Could not recommend this fan more. I was looking for a new fan because I wanted something that really blew, one of the most powerful fans. There was this product, and one other one that was $200 but $100 off, so around the same price, just a couple extra dollars. I chose this one because we've been a Lasko household for quite a bit of time and I trusted them to make quality fans and to advertise themselves accurately. Upon receiving it, this fan exceeded expectations, however, I do have one gripe about it and that's the fact that they made it to where the neck of the fan does not screw or twist in, meaning it can fall out if you're not careful. I was worried about that originally, however it hasn't fallen or anything out of its socket. Noise levels are what you expect out of a fan. Level 3 is about the highest you'd hear from most fans, then level 4, the highest, is a bit more than that. For people who don't like noise, or who don't sleep with it like I do, this fan may not be for you, at least not at level 4, but if you are like me, you would absolutely love this. I didn't buy it for quietness, I bought it to blow air very well, very fast and in the biggest area possible, and it does all of that, so this product is perfect. ... show more

I just purchased this 18” model to replace the 18” model that finally stopped spinning (fix below). I found it on Amazon and hit the buy button. Later that day I thought I would disassemble the old fan to see why it had died after 7 years. Man o Man – the housing was full of dirt, cat hair, human hair, dust, dust bunnies, and whatever else was floating around in the air. I cleaned out what I could with a high-pressure air gun and tried running it again. Very slow spin. So, I decided to dismantle the motor (unplug the fan first). Once inside the metal housing I discovered more dirt and hair, so I removed that and then regreased the shaft. Put it back together, plugged it in, and ‘SHAZAM’!! .. works like brand new. To prevent this from happening again I attached a cheap paper filter COVID face mask to the back of the plastic housing with a rubber band (not an N95). That should keep just about everything out of the housing. I plan on checking the filter every few months and replacing as necessary. Prior to attaching the filter I removed the two inner layers of filter material to allow for more airflow to the motor. The blue exterior filter should provide enough protection, after all I’m not trying to filter germs or viruses, just the bigger stuff. You don’t want to choke off the air supply to the motor or it’ll burn up. I remember breathing through those masks was a bit restricting, so removing the two inner layers should open things up for your fan motor. Here’s how to fix your fan. This should work for most of you, however if prior to disassembly you smell burnt anything, chances are your motor is toast. Taking the fan apart is not rocket science. Unplug the fan. Remove the metal front guard. Remove the plastic nut holding the fan blade (clockwise). Pull the one-piece plastic fan blades off the shaft. Remove the plastic nut holding the rear plastic fan guard (counterclockwise). Remove the plastic motor cover by removing the two front screws and the single back screw with a Philips head screwdriver. Now disconnect the plastic oscillating arm by removing the Philips head screw. With your Phillips head screwdriver remove the 4 screws holding the body together. You should be able to pull the housing apart now. Clean it out and regrease (silicone grease) the shaft where it mates to the support bearings at the front and back. DO NOT GREASE THE ENTIRE SHAFT – it’s a dirt magnet. Put the metal housing back together with the 4 screws and try spinning the shaft. It should turn without binding or grinding. Remember how it came apart? Reverse the process to put it back together. I’m keeping the old fan in my office, and the new fan that I just purchased is going into the garage. With the filters they should both run worry free for many years to come. PROS: Assemble in 5 to 10 minutes out of the box – no tools required Made in USA Powerful but listed as using only 71 watts Should last a long time CONS: Very loud on highest setting Mostly plastic construction ... show more

I run my fan 24/7. This new one replaced my old one of the same make. It ran night and day for over a decade. The remote for this new one makes changing speeds (4 of them) super convenient; I use mine from my bed at night. I'm a weird guy that doesn't cover up at night, and sometimes the fan makes it too cold for comfort. The fan size is right, and the height is adjustable. The blade pitch is awesome. allowing it to pump out a lot of air. It looks fine in any room, and is very quiet (even on high speed). I have to say that I wasn't impressed that the price had doubled since I bought my first Lasko fan. But I know this thing is quality, and that's all that matters. And the color (black) makes in functional in most any decor. I highly recommend it. ... show more

This is the second fan I've owned of this model. The first lasted 12 years with moderate to heavy use. The first one had an issue with the fan blades (Caused by me, I didn't tighten the nut properly after cleaning). Rather than fix the old one, I opted for the new one. Remote works great as usual. I purchased this Lasko 4 speed after my Lasko 5 speed went out. My 5 speed stay on 24/7 365 days for 6 years. So, once the motor went out I can to Amazon to look for another one. The highest speed I could find was the 4 speed. This Lasko 4 speed did not disappoint. It runs great. It was easy to put together. It took me about 15 minutes, I didn't even use the instruction. It's just as quiet as my last fan and can be adjusted pretty high. I'm extremely happy with my purchase. Hopefully this one last me another 6 years or more. ... show more
