  • Great small 4 watt laser but does not use a std m9 -.5 thread Great small 4 watt laser but does not use a std m9 -.5 thread
This is a great little laser, 35X35 mm, but it delivers every bit of 4 watts of optical power. Hard to beat for this price. It can easily burn pine at 500 mm/ min with 35% power. It can cut thourgh chip board (like a cereal box) at 100 mm/ min. I have not tried to cut plywood, but it should be able to handle 1/8 inch at 100 m,/min full power. It is defintately not strong enough to engrave on any raw metel. I have tried aluminum and ss. no impact even at 20mm/min and 100% power. One negative is that the lens barrel is 10 mm instead of the standard M9 .5pitch. Even though you can change the focal length (by turning the lens), I could not get it to focus under 24 mm. The lense can be removed, but it is an odd size. It appears to be an m10 .5 pitch threads. ... show more

  • Very good performance
This little powerhouse gives you that extra kick needed, with a pwm module it is very tunable, has an awesomely tight focal point, and even at 100% power stays relatively cool and the forward air flow through the heatsink/body pushes smoke away quite easily, for less than $60 I doubt you're going to find better, at least in a DPSS laser module. I've wandered between 5mw up to 50000mw over 40 years of laser experience, and an important thing to know is that the laser, although I have not officially tested it, is kicking out the 4, 000mw it claims, and might even be a little closer to 5 or 6,000mw, it's power output from my experience tells me you're getting exactly what they advertise, and perhaps a bit more. I consider it an excellent purchase, but with one caveat, this needs to be run with a pwm module, if not, you can wire it directly to your power supply, (Whether that be a 12 volt plug in adapter or a regulated power supply) no harm will come to the laser from this type of hookup. This is perfect for the laser enthusiast who does not intend to engrave with it and wants to hook it up directly to a 12 volt DC power source, I suggest using one that is rated at 3 amps or better. One final thought, if you wish to connect it directly to a DC power supply you must also connect the pwm module lead, (yellow) to the positive, (red) lead to get it to function, just remember if you do this it runs at 100% power all the time, but won't hurt the module. To simplify, you will have to cut off the connector of your power supply, and one end of the three lead red-black-yellow connector cable and solder those two together cables together, so basically you have a black to black connection, a red to Red connection, with the yellow lead also connected to the red to red connection. Simply plug in the connector to the laser module, then plug in the adapter, I suggest using shrink tubing on all solder connections. Watch out though, at 100% power even if highly unfocused at 3 to 5 ft will cause painful burning on your skin within seconds. ... show more

  • perfect laser for my needs.
Make sure it works with your system which it does with mine. Works better than the original. I would order it again should I need another one.

  • Not quite a drop in
Slightly larger than the one piece clamp on my CNC. I carefully filed the clamp to allow for the larger housing. Requires a PWM (pulse width modulation) port on the CNC controller. You'll need a separate board if your controller doesn't support PWM The laser is stronger than expected. As example, 20% is sufficient for wet leather (wet to minimize burning) while 40-50% produces a decent image on plywood. The laser did not come with glasses so make sure to get a decent pair of laser safety glasses. ... show more

  • Just Like the Other Reviews, Disappoining Performance and then DEAD
Big promises very little performance, I di not get a chance to try it until just a few days ago so the return widow is now closed which is unfortunate because this unit is weak and controllable it is terrible no wonder the price was so low! VERY disappointed again from another hyped up but poor delivering product from Amazon and the chinese sellers. Why don't you try a little honesty? if your product is JUNK tell it like it is instead of inflating your own egos and the true specifications of the product and stealing from hard working people trying to use your products that never seem to work and if they do work at all, not very well and if the do work a described, for how long? Try making a better product that can actually be used... ... show more

  • Reliable and Easy to Adapt
This performs exceptionally well! The four tapped holes on the back make mounting super convenient. My Genmitsu CNC mount wouldn't fit the laser, so I just drilled two diagonal holes in the carriage of my machine to meet the holes on the laser module. While the wiring wasn’t arranged correctly for my machine, it was an easy fix using tweezers to adjust the JST connection. After approximately 20 hours of use, I haven’t encountered a single issue. This is a reliable and well-designed laser module for engraving and cutting projects! ... show more

  • Drop in replacement for Ortur LM2 laser modules
Works as a drop in replacement for my Ortur Laser Master 2 (12v power) diode (4w) that failed. Installation was easy and this unit is much cheaper than replacements that are sold by Ortur.

  • Great... While it lasted
I had this sitting around for a few months and finally got around to hooking it up a few weeks ago. Initially it worked great, no issues with engraving at all, was very impressed with it. But after using it intermittently for about 2 weeks, the laser no longer fires. I can hear the fan running so the unit is getting power, but cannot get any output from the laser any longer UPDATE: LASERTREE contacted me shortly after this review and sent a new control board, which sadly did not solve the problem. However I notified them of this and they happily sent a new module, which does indeed work great again. Bumping the review back up for the excellent customer service ... show more
