My husband ordered this, and we were very happy with it. It's large and will hold a dozen small bass. We like that it folds and stores easily. Unfortunately, we stored it in our boat in our shed, and a mouse family used it for their buffet. My husband took fishing line and "sewed" it back together. It held nicely for our next fishing excursion, but the mice held another banquet. Sadly, it's a goner. This keeps shrimp alive, at least where I'm using it in a canal off the Gulf of America. I have been using this to hold bait shrimp and they live for weeks using this pen dropped into water deep enough that the pen never sits on the bottom. Given that shrimp rarely lasted more than a couple days in a traditional shrimp bucket that floats on surface, this pen will pay for itself within a few fishing trips. ... show more

Over all awesome little fish basket. Held all the fish and survived being hauled up a spillway. The opening/cordage to keep closed could be done better. You may be in trouble if you can't tie knots and you let it untie.

I was kinda surprised by the quality of this. I live on a lagoon, my neighbor runs a bait shop, and has all kinds of commercial traps, and bait pens. Even he was surprised by the quality and price of this. It’s not that cheapo feeling mesh that easily rips on anything. The materials and craftsmanship are surprisingly good for the price. Except for the nylon line to tether the bait pen, just expect to throw that out and use your own rope or old dock line. I tried to keep a few menhaden over night on my boat and they were dead by the AM. Not enough room in the pen, I suspect. But this pen will likely work well with smaller baitfish. Besides the unworkable yellow tether line, the only downside is how hard it is to get the risidual fish scales out of the rubber mesh. I had to power wash them out, even after a week of sitting and baking in the sun. That said, good value for the price and it folds up nice and compact. ... show more
