My 10 year old Wine Enthusiast 78 bottle wine cooler finally gave up the ghost and to replace it thru their website would have cost THOUSANDS of dollars vs. $700 (if my mind serves me correctly!) back in 2013! I found this cooler and met and actually capacity-wise exceeded my needs. So far so good since delivery. It has been online for over a month and no hiccups (fingers crossed as I typed that!) Negatives? (1) It is much noiser than my Peltier cooled Wine Enthusiast. And it is noisy most of the day even though it is not in direct sunlight. It is in my kitchen so I have to accept it may be warmer in there than possible other locations within my home. (2) Yes, as it is with ALL of the free-standing wine collers I have had or seen their capacity is never as high as advertised. I had to re-arrange the shelves in order to fit my larger bottles and although easy to do I was surprised that the metal rails are not very substancial and I have had issues with the shelves coming out of their side runners when I go to pull a fully loaded rack out!* That is obviously a big 'no bueno'! *I've added small washers to shelf attachment points which moved rails inward and that appears to have solved the problem. ... show more

    • Overstated capacity, inflexible layout
Size: 162 Bottles
Cooler was delivered by Amazon logistics partner - XPO. Packaging was still in flawless condition. The guys removed it from the packaging and pallet and positioned it where it was going. Great service. The unit itself is a lot lighter that expected. It's also pretty quiet. It turned on and is cooling down. It appears that doors can be adjusted for either right hand or left hand swing. The shelves are supposed to hold 11 wine bottles each, but that is highly dependent on the size of the bottle. Most bottles I have I can only fit 10 on a shelf as the shelves are not quite wide enough for many common wines. The height between shelves is also not enough to allow room for anything other then an 11 bottle per shelf bottle size to fit. When I pull out a shelf which is limited to 10 bottles because of the diameter of the bottle, the bottles bind on the shelf above and the bottles on the shelf below. The shelves height in this unit are not adjustable. It's therefore not easy to access the bottles on the back half of the rack. This is an issue if planning on storing chardonnay in the top cooler. Most chardonnay bottles are larger in diameter. They will only fit on the very top shelf of the top unit and the very bottom shelf on the bottom unit. Because of that, there really isn't a reason to buy this two zone unit if you plan on storing more than a handful of larger bottle whites because you'll probably end up setting both units to the lower chardonnay storage temperature. These are all 750ml sized bottles - not larger capacity bottles. All this means that the stated capacity is optimistic. The standard bottle from Jordon wines fits fine. Anything even a smidgen larger does not. If you have more than a dozen and a half slightly larger diameter bottles, you won't be able to get them all in this product. If I get a second cooler, I'll look for one with a more flexible layout. Maybe my wine buying criteria going forward with this cooler will have to be based on bottle diameter ! Also of concern - the door seal is the standard magnetic strip seal and isn't very strong. You have to be careful to check that the seal has fully engaged after you close the door or you won't have a seal and the unit won't fully cool. My first cooler arrived damaged (see picture) and the delivery company (PILOT) refused to bring it in the house (before the damage was discovered). I refused delivery as it was not usable due to damage and reordered another one after verifying with Amazon that delivery should have included indoor delivery.. The replacement cooler arrived in good condition shipped via NDS shipping and was placed in the house. This dual zone cooler has upper and lower LCD temperature readouts but the lower readout is hidden behind hardware and not visible unless you bend down so your head is lower than your waist?? The view does not improve with the door open. Seems like a design flaw. The dual temp zones do cool to the requested temperatures verified with separate thermometers. Lastly, the cooler bottle capacity is vastly overstated, which seems common in most wine coolers. There is no way this cooler will hold anywhere close to 162 bottles, however it does keep the two zones in the proper temperature ranges and looks good while doing it. ... show more
