Features

  • LANACare's soothingly soft nursing pads in organic merino wool were specially designed by a Danish nurse. Each pad is interwoven with wool fibers, making it light-weight and absorptive. Many find them more comfortable than disposables or cotton - wool absorbs the milk, keeping skin dry, and breathes, to maintain comfortable temperature in warmth or cold. These are new mom essentials!
  • XS, 5 inch diameter, fits cup size A-B. Sold as set of 2 pads - one pair, the perfect addition to your postpartum care! *Take note - these are larger than most women expect! Cup size is a guideline - please choose size based on measurements.* If uncertain, choose XS or Small. Larger than disposable pads, the edge falls further back to make pads less noticeable through clothing.
  • Style SOFTLINE - made with interwoven wool fibers, bypassing steps of spinning and knitting wool, making these the most affordable style. Sufficient for most women's needs. Available in 6 sizes. Style Original is recommended for women with open sores, style Ekstra for heavier leaking.
  • Women find these helpful with any soreness associated with breastfeeding, plugged ducts, vasospasms. Designed for women by women. Imported by a lactation consultant.
  • These reusable pads are so efficient that most women only need 2-3 pairs for their entire nursing period. Wool's natural lanolin content provides self-cleansing properties, allowing for extended use without washing. Wash, on average (depending on amount of leaking), every 2 weeks with lanolin-replenishing woolwash to maintain hygienic effects. LANACare's lanolin-replenishing soap contains 7.5% lanolin, higher than most other woolwashes.

Description

Soothingly soft washable pads made with organic merino wool. Designed by a Danish nurse, these organic breast pads were made to be newborn necessities. Style Original is made with 2 layers of knitted KbT-certified organic merino wool. Style Ekstra has 3rd inner layer of interwoven wool, for extra absorption. Style Softline is made with interwoven wool fibers. Untreated wool can absorb up to 40% of its weight in moisture, without feeling wet. Once wet, pads feel warm, rather than cold and clammy, as with cotton or disposable breast pads. Scandinavian midwives have traditionally advised breastfeeding mothers to keep their breasts warm to prevent plugged ducts. Larger sizes provide gentle, soothing warmth for this purpose, and are actually less noticeable through clothing, as edge falls further back over covered area. Wool breathes, to maintain comfortable temperature in warmth or cold. Wool's natural oil, lanolin, provides self-cleansing properties for easy care. Wash occasionally, on average every couple weeks, with lanolin-replenishing soap, to optimize wool's unique properties. The wool pads can be used together with lanolin and other ointments, commonly used in breastfeeding. Even women who feel they are allergic to wool can often wear these pads - many react to the chemicals used to extract lanolin from the wool; no such chemicals are used on this wool. Sold as set of 2 pads (one pair). Available in a variety of sizes and styles to suit each woman's needs.

  • The only nursing pads I use
Style: XS SOFTLINE
I absolutely love these. They are SO soft and their size prevents them from moving around too much inside my nursing bras. I actually now can't stand the ones I was given secondhand and only use these. Just be careful not to dry them in the dryer. It did shrink them quite a bit and now I have to figure out how to stretch them back out. But, highly recommend these for any new moms! ... show more

  • Absolutely worth the cost - bought another pair!
Style: XS ORIGINAL
I bought 2 pairs - one a bigger size to use at night, and a smaller size to use during the day. I was using Kindred Bravely Organic Washable Breast Pads 10 Pack before and kept running out of pads because I wore 1 pair a day. These nursing pads are completely worth the cost. They are so absorbent that I can't even tell they're wet. The fact that I can wait until 2 weeks to wash is another reasons I recommend. This does suggest using a lanolin soap to wash these. I'm not sure if it's necessary, but I bought a bar of lanolin soap on another website just in case our regular detergent would ruin it's effectiveness. ... show more

  • Great BUT ITCHY!
Style: Small ORIGINAL
This works great, but makes my boob very itchy…

  • Great, soft and warm!
Style: Mini SOFTLINE
These are great! Purchased the 3in size just to keep warm, they have helped greatly with blanching and pain from nursing. Probably super absorbent but I don't leak so can't comment on that. Can't tell they're there (not at all abrasive, even if you're sore) when wearing, very nice product.

  • Saved my sanity!!
Style: Small SOFTLINE
I was recommended wool nursing pads due to some issues I was having as a result of breastfeeding. I suffered from vasospasm/Reynaud’s Syndrome and it was painful for me to sleep or even be near our refrigerator. These pads did wonders in keeping me warm enough that the pain subsided. I wore these practically 24/7. The large shape is also great because it won’t show through clothes, unlike the typical nursing pads. My only complaint is that cleaning requires a special soap and it’s a hand washing/drying process. As a new mom, it’s not exactly preferable to add on additional tasks but for the relief it provided me, it was a no brainer. ... show more

  • Worth every penny!
Style: Small ORIGINAL
I was dubious about paying $30 for nursing pads, but they are so worth it! They keep you dry & warm, and you really only need 2 pairs. Very helpful transitioning into breastfeeding.

  • Amazing customer service!
Style: Small EKSTRA
I purchased a pair of the Ekstra in the small size. For reference, I am a large B, small C (when engorged). I have a strong let down and after reading the reviews decided the Ekstra was the obvious way to go. When I received the pads, I was shocked at how big they were! I thought for sure I would have to exchange them for the XS, but once I put them on, they fit perfect, to my surprise. While I was nursing my son, I had a strong let down and the pad on my other breast was soaked and I leaked through (not the entire pad, just the bottom). I was so bummed because these pads feel amazing!!!! And I really love the fact that they are all natural wool, instead of something synthetic or bleached. The Lansinoh disposable pads I had been using were making me itchy, which is also another reason I wanted to switch to these wool pads. So, I called Danish Wool directly and spoke to the husband and owner of the company. He was super knowledgeable and after explaining my situation, he recommended that I layer the pad with a mini (which is 3 1/2 inches in diameter) until the baby is a little older. Apparently the let down is stronger in the beginning. He was so kind and just awesome to talk to. I am super excited to receive the mini. Once I have a chance to use it with that, I will update my review. As of now, still giving this product 5 stars because even when wet, you can hardly feel that it's even there. Very cool! And I think I need to use it a few times anyways to really break the product in and have it be at its most absorbent. On a side note, the same exact thing happened with the Aiden and Anais 100% cotton bibs I purchased for my first son. Apparently they needed a few washes/uses before they were fully absorbent, and this appears to be the same issue with the wool pads. Natural fibers work differently from synthetic and unfortunately a lot of us aren't acustomed to using 100% natural products in today's day and age. ... show more

  • LOVE THESE - Do not settle for cheaper ones!
Style: Medium EKSTRA
Though these seem expensive I opted to try them when I was struggling with vasospasms. Rumor had it that the warmth these provided would help - it did - but then I fell in love with them for other reasons. 1) they are super soft -you don't think wool will be - but they are 2) they actually conceal better under clothes - this is counter intuitive because these things are HUGE - but because they are huge they lay better - warning - they will also make you look bigger as they are a little thicker then regular nursing pads (some are thicker then others - these are about as thick as bamboonies overnights). 3) they are sooo easy. I had mine 3-5 weeks before I washed them (and I'm not sure I needed to - but I wanted to wash my other pair - more on that later). You do have to re lanolize (which scared me) - but I googled it and found that I could just mix some water, lanolin (great use for my Lanisnoh lanilon that I didn't like to use on my breasts), and a few drops of baby wash. You then just mix it with water and massage it into the pads and then air dry. I wear these EVERY day. I was at a boutique in town and found a different brand (now I can't remember the brand) - of wool breast pads - and I wanted a second pair - so I got them. They were about half the price - and now I know why. They are not nearly as soft - they are actually a little rigid. I haven't decided if I hate them enough to get a second pair of These ones or not - They recommend you let the pair air at least once a day so I wear one pair at night and one pair during the day. I have been doing this now for 5 weeks and I love it.. I'm not sure I'll ever go back to regular disposables or cloth... ... show more
