I'm always working on home automation projects, both indoor and outdoor. I've had plans for adding a driveway sensor, but I needed something to store the electronics in that would keep them safe from the elements. Overall, I'm happy with this box, and I'll probably use it for the intended project. It's sturdy, and (if you couldn't tell from the photos), the lid is actually clear - probably acrylic. There are 4 included cable glands that will let me get power into the box and sensor wires out without compromising weather-tightness. There are just two things I wished were different: - I would prefer that the gasket were a pre-formed ring of material, rather than a long straight piece that you have to trim to fit. I guess as long as you don't trim it too short, and then preferably put the place where the ends meet on the bottom, it shouldn't cause a leak. - I wish it had a handy way of mounting. CAUTION: one of the photos shows a different box with mounting "ears". THIS IS NOT THAT BOX. The other photos are more representative of this particular box, so just make sure you know which one you're getting. Other than that, it's a nice little project box that should do well for my purposes.

This is an excellent waterproof box for many projects. The crystal-clear top is great for viewing anything you put inside the box that you need to view. You do need to be a bit handy with tools to use this box. There are no pre-drilled mounting holes or knock-out plugs for the supplied connectors, so it is up to you to drill holes wherever you need them. As the product pictures indicate, the connectors require a 16mm mounting hole. I didn't have a metric drill bit, so I used a 5/8" wood drill bit instead. The wood bit worked, but the hole it made was slightly oblong. Luckily, I have a drill press that made it easier to put in the connector mounting hole I needed. I wouldn't recommend using a wood bit for this if you don't have a drill press. A power hand drill may be too hard to control using a wood bit. A standard twist drill bit may work better if you have one that large. I used this box to put a hot tub remote temperature sensor in. I have a weather station that receives & displays the hot tub temperature on a weather station display in my house. This works great to make sure that the temperature is ok at all times. If the hot tub malfunctions during the winter, it will warn me long before the hot tub freezes. Although the temperature sensor is supposed to be rain resistant, the display never seems to last very long before it malfunctions due to moisture. This box should do an excellent job of protecting it from moisture. I have a roll of stainless-steel keychain, so I used it to make a chain the right length so I could hang this box on the cover lifter arm of the hot tub (See pictures). This box was great for this project and would be an excellent choice for many other projects.

This outdoor project box is excellent. I used it as a wiring junction for audio. The holes for the cable glands aren't pre-drilled, which was a surprise to me. I expected it to be at least knock outs. This is a good and bad thing. Since there aren't predefined holes, you can make the exactly as you need, in the place needed. But it also takes a little extra time/work to prep the box.

Installed this today to put my chicken coop door's battery in, the installation went find and I was able to complete everything I wanted to relatively quickly. The water tight seal works nicely and the clear plastic door in the front is helpful as I have a LED indicator on the battery so it is very nice to know if the battery has power or not. The box does not have any pre drilled hole at all, it does have some mounting points but you gotta drill through them yourself, thus giving you the choice of how to mount too. There was no instruction on how to do this and this was my first time doing it so I did some research on TY as there were no instructions at all. For example, I didn't know what that while rubbish string was for sealing the lid. Or it will be helpful to know what size drill to use to drill the whole for the grommets. The customization option for this is high but not very friendly for beginners. The build quality is great, only thing I would like is to have a lid that is more easily opened, you need to unscrew 4 screws to access what's inside at the moment which is a lot if you need to do this often.

The size of this box would think that you could run 120v Romex into it, but the waterproof connectors are not designed for that. Round 120v electrical wire would work. I am going to use mine as a terminal box for outdoor speaker wires that are coming from my receiver that will then branch out to four speakers. I didn't need a clear lid, but there is no harm in having one either. There are no preformed knockouts for the waterproof connectors, so you will have to drill them. That can be a good thing. You can customize it to your liking. The lid requires you to insert a gasket around the groove to make the box watertight. That's sort of a pain, but I am sure helps keep the price down. If you have the need to install small electronics into it you have amble room. Overall I think it is a decent box that has limited use.

This is a nice project box, the lid is very clear and it's easy to read small OLED screens through it. it has a gasket all around the outside edge. the screws have metal threaded inserts on the box side so they won't strip out. the only negative is there are no mounting holes or tabs to attach the box to a surface.
