I purchased the Laifug Orthopedic Memory Foam Bed in Slate Grey, size “Jumbo.” Gummy Bear is a 10-year old Great Dane and Bull Mastiff mix with a splash of black lab. She weighs in between 110-120 pounds, depending on the season. Chief musculoskeletal complaints include generalized joint pain with episodic inflammation of her right shoulder. She also suffers from urinary incontinence due to a condition called ‘Urethral Sphincter Hypotonus.’ This basically causes her bladder to act like a constantly leaky faucet that occasionally implodes. Rationale for Buying | I choose this bed because of the size, price, removable/washable cover (+ the ability to purchase additional covers in the future*), waterproof inner liner and positive reviews that highlight the features that are relevant to Gummy’s needs. Waterproof & Cleaning| As Gummy gets older, there are certain considerations. To manage the urinary incontinence issue, we use reusable cloth diapers to help contain the mess and she’s prescribed a medication called Proin ER. Even so, there are times when the meds and diapers fail her. I’m very grateful that I chose this bed because the cover the has withstood frequent (sometimes daily) washing on the Hot or Sanitize cycle. The inner liner is truly waterproof and endures regular disinfection while the foam core has remained pristine. Comfort | Everyone agrees this bed is incredibly comfortable! It gives Gummy’s joints an orthopedic friendly retreat. When it was brand new, I used to lie on it, just to prove a point to demonstrate how comfortable it is. I’ve since discontinued sampling her bed, on account of the urine, but it’s maintained it’s shape well. I believe this bed is a major factor in maintaining Gummy’s optimal mobility. Size | As far as sizing goes, I really had no idea what size would be best. I had to rely upon the companies’ “reference charts” for guidance. Now that she’s used it for awhile, I think we could have went one size down. This bed is truly massive, even for a huge 120 pound dog. We don’t need the entire 50 inches. Conclusion | Prior to making this investment, I conducted a lot of ‘dog bed related research.’ I found this one to be an excellent value for the quality and features. *I plan on buying a spare cover in the future, but last time I checked they only had a strange (and honestly very ugly) Christmas pattern in stock. It was $20, which isn’t bad.

I am so happy with this dog bed, it’s exactly what I was looking for! I looked at another Big name bed (yes that one) that was about 3x the price and am SO happy I got this one instead. It’s just as good, if not better than the Big name. It is huge, but that’s what I wanted as my dog loves to spread out and curl up and on this she has plenty of space to lay however she wants. She always loves resting her head on pillows and things and is loving the headrests on the bed. The waterproof cover (that is included, the other bed I was considering is excellent - it’s not thin and doesn’t seem like it would rip (my dog does paw at her bed a little to “rearrange” it but does not dig). The microsuede cover camouflages her hair well and doesn’t seem to hold the hair too much, though the black part on the bottom did grab fuzz from a blanket it was washed with but that’s not a concern for me. While the microsuede is “sleek” it’s not overly cozy, so I toss a blanket on the bed which my dog appreciates. The throw blanket is easier to wash than removing the dog bed cover so it works for me too. That being said - the cover is SO easy to put on and take off. We have 5 or so dog beds and this is hands down the easiest to put on/ take off. The foam isn’t quite as dense as I was expecting (it compacts when I sit on it but I still don’t touch the floor). That being said, it’s perfect for the dog. It doesn’t compress at all under her weight (60lbs) and is thick as advertised. I can lay on it and it will compress a few inches but I don’t touch the floor, so I think it would still work really well for even Giant breeds.

At almost 10 months old he’s about 125 lbs and this is the best bed I’ve found for him thus far. I find it to be the perfect height and firmness and I like that it has “ledges” to form “head rests.” I also like that is still compact enough to situate in most available spaces in my house. It can hold up to his weight and even my stepping and walking on it. It was also easy to assemble (putting the slipcover on) once aired out. My only complaint is the stink it left in a spare bedroom (for approximately 2 weeks) when I first opened the package to fluff up the mattress and air it out — this is the fire retardant chemical and it smells AWFUL. Luckily that smell has finally dissipated (several weeks later). (The package says it takes 6-10 hours or something like that - but just a warning: it could take much longer!)

You really can't beat this bed for the price. The foam is thick and supportive, and appears to be of good quality, and it comes with a waterproof cover in addition to the outer cover. It was a little hard to put the covers on, and a little of the velcro that is part of the inner (waterproof) cover started to separate, but all in all, it went together OK. Our dog seems to like it, and we like that we can lie next to her without feeling the floor below.

We received this bed in mid-August 2023 and my January 2024, the waterproof lining had split right down the middle. Let me say, however, that the bed and outside cover is VERY nice. Very thick, great size, cover washes well. This bed is a 10 / 10....just expect to have to buy a replacement waterproof lining cover. They do sell them on Amazon and they are around $30 for the jumbo dog bed size. All in all - I would buy the bed again and happily.
