  • Espresso Snob Is Shocked!
Color: Jet Black
I'm an owner of several prosumer level espresso machines and appliances level 'espresso' wannabes that make Moka Coffee and call it espresso. This super cutie took me by surprise! PROS: Awesome retro design based on the European Swan Espresso Machine (which has my heart quite frankly). Fast heating! Doesn't take 30 minutes like my beast does! Easy to read gauge with ranges. Water tank with foldable handle. Adequate pressure for true espresso. Adequate pressure for milk frothing. User friendly for beginners. Pressurized baskets that accept (single shot) ESE pods. CONS: Totally plastic except for drip tray grid and steam arm. Panarello Tube. You're better off without it. I took mine off with much better microfoam results. Pressurized baskets with silicone gaskets. I purchased a Breville 51mm double shot basket for $10 bucks here that yielded amazing results. Plastic-y tamper. Get a real VonShef tamper here for minimal cost. Great scoop though. Not very dry steam. Purge the wand first to get water out and wait to reach pressure. I'm guessing this is by design for beginners. My other machines are higher pressure and kinda scary. Hard to seat the portafilter at first, Stiff group gasket. Machine is light and can easily tip over, be careful until the gasket gets a little flexible. Overall: Machine does make espresso with crema even with a non pressurized basket. I think it's a decent little starter machine with a few inexpensive modifications. I hope it lasts. I wish there was a portafilter adapter for Nespresso capsules like another appliance level machine I have. If a beginner follows best barista practices, ie, purge the group and steam wand, use low mineralized water, a grouphead brush and properly clean, it should last unless a mechanical failure. I'm impressed with it's performance for the price range! I'll update after a month of usage. ... show more

  • Great product!
Color: Cream Beige
We love this little espresso machine and use it daily! Had one for a year now and still functions great! Just bought one for my mom and know that she will love it! Only problem so far is that the handle came apart from the cup, but still functional! Great value! Why would anyone spend hundreds or thousands on an espresso machine when this little one works great! ... show more

  • When you want espresso without spending an arm and a leg for a machine and/or pods.
Color: Cream Beige
If you ever were on the fence about getting an espresso and didn't want to spend a huge investment, then this would be in your interest. In this market, you are either buying a very expensive machine for espresso which would require an expensive burr grinder, or a similarly priced machine that will require expensive pods to enjoy your espresso. You are getting value from this machine but you do need some guidance on how to make a proper espresso prior to using this machine. I would dock a point on the poor instructions manual, but youtube and some online espresso guides are more than enough to move past this issue. Keep in mind, this is a pressurized portafilter, so this is a good beginner's machine to appreciate the craft of espresso. Meaning, you don't need an expensive burr grinder and a heavy tamper to get the consistencey. Packaging and stuff: Nothing out of the ordinary but good packaging and presentation. It comes with a single shot or double shot pressurized basket, a portafilter, a plastic scoop/tamper, and the machine itself. The Machine: First to say the obvious, this machine is plastic. You are not getting a SS espresso machine for $150, but that being said for being plastic it does present itself and holds well during usage. The buttons on the machine feel tactile on feedback and do not feel cheaply made. Steam wand- Not the best, but not the worst either. It is slightly wobbly and looks flimsy, but it did do a milk froth well (I just noticed I don't have a photo for that, my apologies). This is a single boiler so you do have to wait and slightly cool down the boiler before doing your espresso. Espresso should be brewed at 190 F +/- 10 degrees (some people will probably be mad at me for saying this), but 190 is fairly assumed by most. This machine has a tendency to dip a little below so it doesn't hurt to bump up the temp by using the steam function. I did do a test run to see water disbursement prior to use. To my satisfaction, the spray was good and even throughout the test. Now putting in the portafilter will always be not my favorite part for a plastic machine but it is as good as it can be so *shurg*. When you press the coffee button, then the water will get up to temp and send the water to the portafilter. The extraction seems well but does contain a lot of air which I believe the machine is compensating due to the pressurized filter. Also the machine uses a lot of water and I would make sure to stop the machine when you achieve the right amount (1 to 2 oz depending on your shot) This was way more than that so I had to manually shut the machine off (pressing the coffee button). I did two attempts as the first one filled up my espresso cup. Conclusions: Needless to say, the espresso looks great and tastes as good as the pods and other entry-level espresso machines. Now if you spend $1500, you are going to get a richer flavor, but you are also spending $1500, so why are you even reading my post. But if you are trying to learn the art, impress your friends or just want a damn espresso without all the hoops or hurdles of entry. Then this is your best option, as it gives you everything you wanted without you spending everything to get it. ... show more

  • Makes great expresso and looks great.
Color: Jet Black
Makes excellent expresso. Pretty easy to use and looks great. I don't mind at all that it is plastic and knew that when I purchased it. I am not a barista but I love coffee and this makes a great cup of expresso. The crema is perfect. Easy to use and heats up very quickly. My only gripe is that it is short and cannot fit large mugs under it even with the tray removed. Also, after you make the expresso and also while steaming, it will drip. Not sure if most operate that way but not a big deal. I clean it immediately anyway as you should. ... show more

  • I gave it a 4 star out of 5
Color: Cream Beige
The only reason I gave it a 4 star out 5 is due to delivery. It said 2 day delivery but it was longer than 2 days. Other then that I’m in LOVE with my espresso machine! I’ve been wanting to get one but didn’t feel like spending an arm and a leg on espresso machine and I wanted one that would match our kitchen and found this! It’s super easy to use and it has that retro/vintage look as well that I’m in love with! It makes really good espresso and the milk frother works well to! I definitely recommend this for beginners and if you’re looking for an espresso machine that’s easy to use! **You can control how much you want in your cup. Press once to start the machine and press again to stop it from over pouring.** ... show more

  • My only issue is the steaming wand
Color: Cream Beige
I do love this machine, it is east to use and is a great value, my only issue is the steaming wand never gets hot enough to heat the whole cup of milk in one go, I always have to wait for it to reheat then keep steaming the milk
