  • L'Oreal Oil in Serum
I have fine, low density wavy hair that is prone to breakage and frizz. This product is amazing to use on mids to ends to keep hair moisturized without greasiness. I have a bob cut and 1 pump is enough for me. I use it at night before bed. The fragrance is strong but does not bother me. My hair feels soft and I have experienced less breakage and shedding. This is a winner for me and I will repurchase. ... show more

  • Love the smell (surprisingly), but not a fan of how it weighs down and dulls the hair.
I surprisingly like the scent of this, and I am sensitive to scents. Most will give me scent induced headaches but thankfully this is not too strong, overpowering or chemically smelling. It's floral (the rose scent is primary) but also softly woodsy with maybe vanilla/musk tones. Sweet, floral but surprisingly attractive. It reminds me of a perfume I own, one of the few that I enjoy that don't end up with me having to take ibuprofen. The pump leaked out excess product upon first use. I had pushed down the pump once to distribute a small amount, and when I went to take it to my bathroom I noticed it had leaked over the bottle and table. This hasn't happened since then so maybe it was the release of pressure? This does effectively add shine and even though I prefer to air dry my hair, I like that it has heat protection from sizzling my hair in the rare occurrence I dry or straighten it. As for it being softer, it's hard to tell. I use a good Japanese conditioner that makes my hair feel as soft as a kitten. Truly amazing stuff, and it makes it hard to know if a product does indeed add extra softness or defrizzing. One thing I didn't like is that it felt like it weighed down my hair. It looks and feels oily, but it isn't once applied. Yet it definitely loses the natural bounce after using it. I tried this on my son's hair which is a lot finer than mine, and it was even worse. Plus it seemed lackluster compared to how it usually looks. His hair is like gold strands that shimmer effortlessly in the light (I'm honestly envious!) but it lost it's vibrancy once this was applied. Everyone is different so while I honestly wouldn't order this again, it could be the holy Grail of hair serum for others. ... show more

  • It worked, I think?
I was a little wary when I saw the consistency as I'm used to use straight oil or watery hairspray as a protectant. Once it warms up in your hands, it does get a bit more oily. It covered my upper-back length afro hair with about 32 pumps (16 per side, divided down the middle.) I expect to get around 5 or 6 uses out of it. I only used the flat iron on my hair (no pre-blow drying) and it performed adequately. Not sure what would be a bad performance, but my hair didn't burn. However, it is pretty expensive for the bottle size. ... show more

  • Lightweight Heat Protectant
You don't need much of this product for it to be effective, which is great because it's not a large bottle. Lightweight oil that makes hair really soft and smooth once it is applied. Definitely don't overapply or you may find yourself with greasy looking hair. My daughter has hair that tends to get frizzy during the day and has used this when straightening her hair and it keeps it smooth and shiny all day long. I like that it's also a heat protectant because products that do dual jobs makes our lives easier. If you're not a fan of fragranced hair products this probably won't be for you. The fragrance is strong and tends to linger on the hair. Definitely floral, but not a terrible smell. I do wish it was toned down just a bit though. ... show more

  • Revitalizes my dry hair
I wasn't sure what to expect with this hair serum, but I am pleasantly surprised at how well it works. I have very dry hair due to my age and being outdoors a lot. I use a very small amount of this bond repair serum (a little goes a long way) on the ends of my hair. I've used it on my dry hair and damp hair, and both work great. This serum makes my hair feel silky and soft. It also has a very pleasant scent that is not too strong. I highly recommend this product! ... show more

  • Over-perfumed and comes with some cautions, but works well
My hair is very dry and brittle, and sometimes frizzy. It splits easily, so I like to apply come kind of hair oil on it regularly. I wanted to try this product to see if it could help. It’s a bonus that it is also a heat protectant. The bottle is small and seems to be made of a very hard plastic. It has a pump cap that has a top which you can turn to open or close. On the back of the bottle is a caution, sunburn alert, and ingredients list, along with company information. This label peels open to reveal more information, including the products purpose results, info on the formula, a description of the fragrance, and directions. The directions say to “apply a small amount to damp or dry hair, style as desired.” SCENT: The bottle describes the fragrance as “a floral scent that blooms with notes of rose and sandalwood,” but the product page describes it as “a citrus, flirty & floral fragrance with notes of mandarin, rose & amber”. I did not detect any citrus or mandarin. I would say it’s mostly rose and sandalwood scented, although it did smell like it had some artificial components. I would describe the scent as being pretty strong. CONSISTENCY: The product is a fairly thick consistency. After applying a small amount to my hands and rubbing them together, it felt smooth and felt a bit like silicone. It’s pretty slippery. It spreads across my hands well and didn’t feel sticky. THE GOOD: This “oil-in-serum” made my hair feel soft and manageable, with a bit of shine. The bottle is clear so you can see how much product is left. The pump is easy to press and it can be turned to an off position, so the pump can’t accidentally be pushed. You only need a small amount - a little goes a long way. There are no sulfates, parabens or phthalates in this product. THE BAD (or not so bad): This product does have a strong smell. I have a sensitive nose and it bothers me. Even using a small amount on my hair yielded a strong scent. The scent is perfumed, but also smells a lot like chemicals to me. I could still smell it on my hands even after washing them. Be aware that there is a sunburn alert on the bottle, which states that it contains a chemical that could increase your skin’s sensitivity to the sun, and that you should limit sun exposure while using the product. This product does not come sealed in any way, so there’s no way to tell if it has been tampered with. This product is flammable. It states on the bottle, “Flammable until dry. Avoid fire, flame & heat (except for hair styling appliances) during application & until hair is fully dry.” FINAL THOUGHTS: Personally, I don’t care much for this product. It seems like it works well, but the warnings concern me and it’s over-perfumed in with a scent that I am not fond of. I mean I like the smell of roses, but this mixed scent is a bit overbearing, and I don’t like sandalwood at all. I didn’t realize the scent would be so strong. This product does seem to work well on both dry and damp hair. I’m not sure about long term results. If it didn’t have such a strong scent, I might use it on a regular basis to find out. ... show more
