Just received my Kylebooker 8 weight fly rod combo and looking forward to trying it out. It’s preloaded with fly line, backing and tapered leader all you need is to attach a fly and your ready to fish. The machined reel looks and feels great, with a smooth easy to adjust disk drag. (Tip…always loosen your drag when your done fishing to extend the life of your drag. Again always happy with the products I purchased from Kylebooker…cost effective and value for your money! I will be adding videos of me using this rod soon on U tube, Facebook and Instagram to show you all the quality and effective use of this combo rod and reel. Another tip…always stretch the fly line before use to remove the memory and improve the effectiveness of your cast. Tight line and happy fishing!

I bought this 8wt combo to replace my old Cabela's fly combo for salmon/steelhead fishing in the Midwest. The combo looks great and feels lighter than the old one. First trial today found smooth reel casting and good drag. It's a great product and I will use it for sure in the future.

This is one of the most complete fly fishing kits I have seen. All you need is some flies and you are ready to get out on the water. Even the line and leader was already strung up on the reel. I have purchased a number of different complete fly fishing kits in the past during one of my many attempts to get back into fly fishing over the years. This one beats all of those. This is an important fact to go over. There are many fly fishing kits on Amazon, many priced at $60 or less. You need to avoid those kits like the plague. They are simply awful to use and if you are just starting out and learning how to fly fish, those kits will only make the difficulty compound. This $100 price point for this kit is exactly what you want. The cork on the handle is certainly of the cheap variety but that isn't a huge problem here. This is a rod for learning on. It's not something you want to keep for years and years. Eventually the cork is going to start flaking off. That's just the nature of using cheap cork and to be honest they had to shave up some quality here and there to get to that price point. The yest of the rod is just fine. Nice strong eyes. The flex of the 9' rod felt quite good to me. The reel is your basic fly fishing reel but certainly better that in most all in one kits I have seen. It takes up line just fine. I'll be honest, the reel really isn't vitally important with fly fishing. You are taking the line out by hand most of the time anyway. The value of this reel is about $20 if you bought it separately. I am so impressed with this kit. It's the perfect base line kit for starting out with fly fishing that is good enough quality to not frustrate you more learning what can be a challenging sport.

I ordered this for my husband who used to fly fish with his dad years ago in his home state of Oregon. Since I'm the one writing this review and am not in any way, shape or form a fisher woman, so I cannot add the expert details that other reviewers have. We live in Pennsylvania and at the moment, it's not the best time of year to go fly fishing season here so he has not yet had the opportunity to put this fishing outfit to good use and test out all the features. What I can say based upon the limited comments he's provided to help me write this review is that for the price, this is a well made fly fishing pole with a good amount of accessories included. The case feels sturdy and he's glad it was included. He was very pleased with this when I presented it to him as a gift on Christmas. He hasn't fly fished in many years since moving from Oregon and he's pretty stoked to be able to enjoy the hobby that he shared with his father so many years ago. We both can't wait until the spring where we can both go and enjoy a bit of nature exploring our local streams and river. He can show off the fly fishing skills he's been bragging about for years and maybe I can pick up a few of my own so we can enjoy this hobby together. For the price of this outfit, ordering a second outfit for me is an inexpensive way for us to find shared hobbies, enjoy each others' company and the beauty of the Pennsylvania outdoors.
