I bought these after trying to rewire a trailer- replacing all of the lights. I started and got about halfway through and got sick of soldering and then using heat shrink tubes etc to join wires. I saw this product as my brother had a kit of these and it literally takes 20 seconds to not only connect wires but also watertight seal them. So far so good and my trailer is working like a charm. The first half of the trailer took me 1.5 hours, and then second half took around 15 minutes- it makes it so simple. I also installed a new car stereo in my daughter's vehicle and these were versatile enough that I could find connectors that were much smaller than what I used on the trailer wiring. I was able to join many different wires in minutes, and I am confident that it will stay joined better than the twist connectors I always used previously. You can either use these with a heatgun or a targeted lighted- but basically you have to get it hot enough to melt the solder in the middle of the connector- when that melts it creates a seal, and then the outer plastic tub shrinks to create a nice seal (also cosmetically pleasing- much more than the twist connectors.) I have seriouslly loved having these around and plan to use them consistently on my audio projects or low voltage projects in the future! ... show more

I had a live scope cable get cut on my bass boat with very small delicate wires that could not be soldered because they're stainless but I was able to use these connectors and get a great connection a good seal the thing sends out a good signal so I would highly recommend this and makes it much easier to join wires together. ... show more

This made making connections very easy. I used my Ryobi heat gun with the deflector shield and I did not scorch a single one and all had the solder melted. I kept moving the heat back and forth and about about 45-55 seconds, boom, all done. Great product for someone that can't solder, like me.

I can't solder. I just can't. I'd like to learn, but not on a critical job. Having said that, these are an excellent way to get a soldered connection if you're an inept solderer like myself. These came out pretty good. It did take a bit longer to melt the solder than I had expected. I was using a DeWalt cordless head gun with the proper wrap around tip set to High. I was concerned the plastic would fail before the solder melted but it didn't. The connection could have been a little straighter, but when you're lying on the floor and propping wires on whatever you can grab so you don't have to stand back up, you take what you get. ... show more

These things are so cool. Best consistent butt connection I've ever been able to make. I use a heat gun with the narrow tip. You can burn through them if you're not careful. There is a fine line between hot enough to melt the solder ring and not melt the heat shrink. Once you get the hang of it you can do it every time. I lost his the little colored ring grips the wire too. You can kinda hit that part first to help hold the wire then hold it on the solder ring. I always do another layer of heat shrink just in case I burn through the one it's made of. I will definitely buy more of these. I hope they have different types of connectors in this same style. I do a lot of diy vehicle electrical work, these are my favorite now ... show more

I didn't want to have to spend $$$ on a soldering iron kit just to fix a few wires on my motorcycle. These were a godsend! for $5 I fixed a few broken wires on the bike and extended the turn signal wires. All I used was a pocket knife, this kit and a lighter. Cant solder even if my life depended on it, needed something idiot proof and this is the perfect product. Used to install a double din radio on my 2010 dodge charger, made installation a breeze. You can use a light but I highly suggest you use a heat gun.
