For 20 years I've been wanting to replace a ceiling fixture that was cheap (like something a landlord would use in a rental) and was semi-flush, so it was perpetually collecting small bugs & dust. This Kudos LED fixture fits with my modern furnishings much better than the old one did, and it looks good in my living room, despite my worries that it may have been a bit too small for the room's size (13 inch diameter, whereas my old one was 15 inches). My electrician had no problem installing with the installation. There IS a ground wire. I'm using the middle warmth setting (4500), but I might bump it down a notch. The warmth setting switch worked perfectly, and was clearly marked for the 5 different warmths available (on a different fixture I recently replaced I had to guess and use trial & error to figure it out). This fixture having 5 different warmth options is a big plus (many others have only three) I didn't think I'd need a dimmer switch, but I've slowly come to realize that I might need to add one, since at 1100 lumen this fixture is pretty bright. Until that gets done I will not be able to comment on the how well the LEDs handle dimming. I rated this down from excellent for two reasons: (1) I generally object to any fixture where you have no choice but to replace the entire thing once the light starts going bad; I am ethically bound to reserve "excellent" for fixtures where you can just change-out the LED bulb itself, and not have to throw all the parts and the glass shade into a landfill. (2) My other reason is quality control (QC). There was a chip on the inside of the frosted glass shade. The inside is the frosted part, so that chipped area is see-through; luckily that chip is adjacent to the center hole, and it gets covered-up by the knob that you screw-on to secure the shade, so aesthetically the chip is not visible once the shade is mounted. However, that chip is a potential weak spot for breakage, or where a crack could start forming in the glass (similar to how a crack line starts slowly extending out from a rock chip in your windshield). For a shade that must be removed & then re-mounted whenever you want to adjust the warmth setting, having a flaw in the glass right from the get-go is less than ideal. The chipped area was large enough for the actual piece to have been found inside the box and perhaps glued back on, but I could not find it anywhere, so the injury almost certainly happened prior the boxing & shipping of this product. QC should have been easily able to spot something like that (I saw it right away). ... show more

A nice, low profile light fixture. It was very easy to install. There is a selector switch to choose your level of brightness. The LEDs provide a nice, crisp clear light. In my opinion, it is much brighter than a typical light fixture.
