Has a somewhat matte finish to it, slightly sticky but good for trying to style my short hair. Seems to hold all day with a light dusting of hairspray. The fragrance is terrible! It reminds me of an old, weathered woman who douses herself in perfume to mask the lingering scent of cigarette smoke.

I feel like I've tried every variation of volumizer on the market, including using multiple products to achieve the goal of full hair that doesn't lay flat against my head, but the Kristin Ess mousse is the one I go back to every time. The mousse is super easy to apply, I put about a golf ball size amount in my palm, finger comb it through the roots of my fine textured hair, and blow dry. This is one of the worst hair mousse's I've ever used. I have very very fragile fine thin hair. I got this as I thought that this brand might be healthy and good for my hair. No matter how little I use and no matter where I place it, it does nothing to help the volume and just makes my hair feel coated (not in a good way) like I need to wash it again. It weighs down the hair and adds nothing. No body. Nothing. I had wanted to just get through the bottle but I think I'm just going to throw it out even tho I've used it maybe 4 times.
