  • Great jig.
It’s a Kreg! I never thought I’d need a drill jig since I have a drill press. But I needed to drill some holes in a plywood benchtop that were near the middle and I couldn’t reach that location with my drill press. This worked great.

  • A great drill jig for the price
This is a great drill jig for the price. It works well and is well built. The only (minor) issue I experienced during initial assembly was that the handle on the side was a bit tough to attach.

  • Not up to Kreg's reputation
I own several Kreg products -- notably, the company's legendary face-drilling jigs for pocket screws. I even have two of Kreg's new cordless tools that I ordered purely because of Kreg's reputation for quality and thoughtful products. This drilling jig does not live up to that reputation Kreg has made for itself. Here's why: For drilling 90-degree holes, there's no "click" or definitely setting to ensure you're actually at 90 degrees. Moreover, the way the jig is built, there's no way to put a square up next to the jig to determine whether you are exactly 90 degrees to the surface. And, since the two vertical bars can move independently, it's possible the jig could be off on two axes without you realizing it. Additionally, if trying to drill at a certain angle, the markings on the device make it nearly impossible to get an accurate angle -- and again, the way the device is designed, it's impossible to use an accurate angle gauge with the tool. So, a tool that's supposed to be all about accuracy and precision, is neither accurate or precise. This is the one thing from Kreg that I own that i'be been disappointed in. ... show more

  • It's a pretty good entry level drill guide, but it does have its flaws.
As a long-time Kreg user and fan, I am always interested in their new products. I frequently have the need for a drill guide on 90 degree holes and sometimes an angle, but the guide I currently have is not perfect. I discovered this one is not either. This drill guide has some great improvements over a similarly priced competitor, so I was eager to give it a shot. I was very happy to see that Kreg's had the following features: * Dual springs on the shafts - This gives even pressure to both sides, helping it to resist binding when moving back and forth. * Precise metal shaft holes - By moving to this design, instead of plastic bushings like others, it provides a very nice, smooth movement when drilling. * Dust extractor - I don't use this feature often, but it is nice to have versus maneuvering a shop vac nozzle nearby. It also has a very nice chuck and the parts are well made. Something I found needed improvement was the fact there were no positive stops for the angles. Although the omission of this feature allows for more angles, I found it to be not as desirable because you can literally have one shaft off from the other because the underside of the locking piece area is smooth. My other one has teeth that allow it to lock into the exact angle. If there were an easy way to measure squareness, that would help. Again, it's not the end of the world, but it would be nice to have that. The gray end caps that you use to tighten the shafts are smooth. Considering you don't have positive locking parts for the angle adjuster, you need to tighten it pretty good. Having a knurled or spline type of end would make this easier. In the end I found it was still a pretty good guide for the price and should work for most basic needs. I was able to drill multiple holes for a recent project and the results were good. ... show more

  • Surprisingly, not as great as expected
We’re normally big fans of Kreg brand products, having used their jigs on various projects around the ranch for years. Last month, I ordered this drill guide thinking it would make angled holes a breeze for some fencing repairs. Especially due to various thicknesses. Unfortunately, it just doesn’t work as anticipated. I remember setting it up on a piece of lumber, adjusting the angle, and realizing theres no way to get other tools close enough to use without awkward maneuvering. The design just doesn’t allow easy use. During another attempt to drill straight into posts, I noticed there’s no set position for 90 degrees, which led to inconsistent results. The two vertical bars can move independently and that threw off a whole batch of holes I needed for brackets. It felt like a step back from the reliable, durable stuff we’re used to from Kreg. ... show more
