It's a decent tool when you can't use a drill press. It lines up well enough for 2 holes drilled on either side of a 4x4 will meet in the middle. It isn't the most stable and to best use it I would recommend clamping it to what you are drilling if possible. I found the dust collection shroud to be unnecessary. My main complaint would be max depth. With the chuck extending past the support frame, there isn't a lot of room between the chuck and the baseplate for a longer drill bit. It's a pretty niche tool that fills a role for those of us who can't drill straight. I'll probably use it once every 6 months or so, and that's worth the price to me.

This is the first time I felt that Kreg completely failed the assignment. The main issue is there is no locking mechanism for the angle, so you are setting it visually and trusting light tension to keep it in place. There is nothing forcing both sides to align with the exact angle, any amount of firm pressure can easily shift the bridge off the set angle. Secondly, you'd think that this would be capable of drilling deep holes, but despite the long travel of the bridge, the chuck barely extends beyond the baseplate, so most smaller / thinner drill bits will be useless. Lastly, setting the depth gauge realistically requires three hands as you need to grasp the baseplate, push the bridge down, and then turn a knob while it's still compressed. With all of this taken into consideration, this tool does not meet the design or build quality that I've come to expect from Kreg. Returned it without even using it.

I purchased this tool for drilling bookshelf holes. It did the job, but I was expecting a little more precision for setting angles. Like others have mentioned, there are no detents or stops for common angles. I have a number of Kreg tools, so maybe I was expecting better. The assembly instructions are hard to read and rather poor, but after trial and error I got it figured out. Both of the vertical bars move independent of each other which makes it harder to set the angle. It would be better if they were joined to move together. If you need precision, you might want to look elsewhere, but for small projects where "close enough" is okay, it's not a bad tool. A few improvements would make this a better tool.

While unpacking, the parts seemed sturdy and well made. During assembly, I noticed the instructions weren’t clearly written and the parts list drawings were really small and hard to ID, but I figured it out. When I tested the guide on a scrap, I found that the guide immediately slipped out of 90 degrees. The tool lacks indents to keep it vertical, or any other angle, with no good way to tighten it enough to keep from slipping. So in other words, the guide doesn’t do the one thing that it’s supposed to do. I returned it and do not recommend this product.

Tried to use handle but could not keep angle where I needed. Then, bolted down and it worked great. Very pleased with outcome.
