  • For long straight cuts, this is a real wrist-saver!
I needed to replace the fascia on a manufactured home. Because the dimensions were not the standard 6 or 8 inches, I had to do some 16-foot cuts down the length of the aluminum fascia so it would slip under the drip edge and sit flush with the vinyl soffit. My 64-year-old wrists were not going to enjoy that, so I figured that for the price, this was worth a shot. Boy, am I impressed. The tool fit onto my Porter Cable drill and functioned with no problems, and it literally took less than a minute per piece to cut the entire length. Since this only leaves one flat edge, I kept the scrap side to my right. It cut the aluminum like butter, and the remaining cut edge was perfect. I also used this to cut 12-inch holes in a plenum to add some cold air returns, and it worked great. The jaws do not open very far, so going over corners and bends is not so great. It also takes some effort to cut across a seam. It is not a cure-all, but for the price it is a great tool to have in your arsenal. ... show more

  • Cuts a fairly straight line
Works very good but a second may be needed to hold metal. A must for part time sheet metal workers

  • This thing out performed my expectations.
I had my 24' round pool collapse and i needed to cut the wall up into manageable pieces for the scraper who was going to haul it away. I didn't want to use tin snips. Too long too hard and too tedious so i went looking for some cordless metal shears. The local Home Depot only had Milwaukee for 300 dollar. I only had to make about 12 cut about 4 feet long so that definitely wasn't cost effective. So i saw this item on amazon and it said it would be good for cutting up to 18ga. metal. Pool wall was 18 gauge. I would be maxing out the tools capability but for the price i said, what the heck. Well i always new Dewalt was top of the line in tools but I had my doubts about metal shears operated by a power drill. Well I couldn't be more thrill about the way this tool performed. It had no trouble with the pool wall. Probably took me about 10 minutes of actual cutting to make the 12 cuts. Any tool I buy from now all will be a Dewalt if they make the tool I'm buying. ... show more

  • Good for Steel Mesh, Straps, Aluminum Sheets
If you have an extra drill and battery you can leave this attached to, then for the price, this is a nice solution. It cuts well and is so much quicker than sheet metal sheers. It is decently well balanced for one-handed cutting, and the neck is long enough that your hand stays away from material being cut at a higher angle than when using sheers. The jaws are pretty small, so it does take some finesse and forward pressure to keep it cutting (and in a straight line). It might be quicker to use a 3" cutoff saw with a metal blade if you only need to cut in straight lines. But this tool is versatile and can cut irregular shapes, if you are skilled enough. I wish it had a quicker way of detaching and attaching, since it prevents the drill from being used for anything else with this attached, and the battery cannot even be removed, as it presses down on it (at least when mounted to the Milwaukee). But it's been worth it to dedicate an extra drill motor for smoother, quicker, and easier cutting than using manual sheers. ... show more

  • Cuts Like Butter, Giggles Like a Gremlin ★★★★★
Ever stare at a sheet of metal and think, “How hard could this be?” Then five minutes later you’re holding a pair of mangled snips, muttering words that would make a sailor blush? Yeah — been there. Enter this little yellow miracle: the DeWalt Nibbler Attachment, proof that sometimes, the right tool really does turn a mountain into a molehill. Hook this up to your drill, and it starts happily munching through metal like a squirrel with an espresso problem. Aluminum, steel, roofing tin — it doesn’t care. It just goes nom-nom-nom through it all, leaving behind perfect, smooth-edged cuts that make you look far more skilled than you actually are. Sure, I won’t use it every day — unless I start a sideline business in decorative sheet-metal art — but when a project calls for it, this thing turns frustration into satisfaction faster than you can say “Why didn’t I buy this sooner?” My only gripe? I wish it fit every impact driver out there. That’d make it a universal hero instead of just a DeWalt sidekick. Still, as it stands, this is one of those rare tools that earns its spot in the toolbox just by waiting for the right project to come along — like the quiet kid in class who turns out to be a genius when the test hits. Bottom line: it nibbles like a champ, saves your sanity, and makes you look good doing it. DeWalt, if you’re listening — make a universal adapter, and you’ll sell these faster than coffee on a Monday morning. ... show more

  • Not great on 1/2” hardware cloth
I am constructing a large cage around my garden and I purchased this tool to make quick work of cutting 1/2” hardware cloth. The first problem was that the mounting arm does not fit any of my Ryobi drills or drivers due to the shape of the drill handle and battery. Hence I was forced to tie wrap a custom wood block to my drill to get it to work. The second issue is that the jaws on the device only open a bit more than 1/8”. This makes it difficult to align the cloth with the tool such that the next strand enters the jaws when making a cut. I found that I might cut 5-8 squares like butter, then the opening would miss the next strand. When this happens the tool stops and starts bending the next strand as the moving end of the jaws bangs into it. When this happens, raising or lowering the handle will allow the strand to enter the jaws and be cut. Sometimes, especially when leaning way over to continue a cut in the middle of a long section, I found myself having to adjust the handle up and down for almost every strand, making the cutter no faster than manual tin snips. This problem probably occurs with 1/2” hardware cloth due to the strands being relatively far apart. Cutting chicken wire would probably be worse. Cutting 1/8” or 1/4” should work a lot better. ... show more

  • Fast cuts and easy control, attached OK to Ryobi tools
These worked great to build a supply plenum for my new heat pump. I was using aviation snips but after cutting 3' of 26 ga sheet metal I needed to improve my tools or risk arthritis. These work great, and are cheaper and store smaller than a dedicated cutter. I have a Ryobi drill and driver - both worked fine with this but it doesn't clamp nearly as easy as it would to DeWalt tools. However once attached it got the job done and was very easy to control the cut. ... show more
