  • Poor Quality Tarp - I Will Not Buy Kotap Again
Style: Ultra Heavy Duty Protection, 16-mil Color: Silver-white Size: 10 ft. X 12 ft.
I have a loaded trailer with a leaking roof and I needed a quick fix. I chose this tarp and wish I hadn 't. Out of the wrapper it had a long-side seam that looked so questionable I taped the seam before I tied the tarp down. And when I tied it down, the fabric split away from (at least) 4 of the grommets. And forget the plastic "reinforcement" on the corners - they are not sewn into the fabric, so all they do is mask it as it splits. The only reason I'm not returning this tarp is that the return process would take more of my time than it's worth. This is a poor quality tarp. I will not be buying Kotap products again. ... show more

  • Very VeryTough material and eyelets.
Style: Heavy Duty Protection, 10-mil Color: Silver Size: 12 ft. X 16 ft.
I bought a new car in the spring of 2017 and was not going to leave it to the weather like the others. I had to take my 3 lawn tractors out of the garage. Where to put them out of the weather? I bought a 12x16 Blue Mountain heavy duty tarp (silver) @ Lowe's and hung it off of the back porch lean to fashion. It worked, but couple of months later back to Lowe's for another because the eyelets had been torn out from wind and the weight of some rain. Same thing with the second and 3rd. The sun summer sun burned the silver color blue mountain material nearly to dust. I've used others tarps to cover fire wood etc. and none of them were any better. Then after the 3rd blue mountain I ordered 2 of these tarps on Amazon. The first has been up since last November (2017). All last winter and all this summer and it is still working fine. I had to use 2 x 4s to prop up the center to help with rain pooling and it didn't puncture theses tarps. These suckers are tough. One full year and still no tares and summer didn't burn it up! The second is sitting in the shed for when I need it. THEY ARE VERY GOOD TARPS and less expensive than others. If you need a good tarp I highly recommend this one! Update 2-26-18: I has now been through it's second winter hanging lean to fashion off the back porch. Holding up very well still. I've put 2 small tears in it (my fault) but they've yet to rip larger with wind or weather. The second is still in the shed waiting. ... show more

  • Was a waste of time and money
Style: Heavy Duty Protection, 10-mil Color: Silver Size: 12 ft. X 12 ft.
Trash - Under one day the tarp corner ripped out - So much for Heavy Duty !! Insult to injury is that the tarp isn't even a true 12x12 !! If having the correct size and looking for "Heavy Duty" counts pass on this one. Was a waste of time and money. Feel like I was duped by the product description.

  • Seems good quality; 19'2", not 19'6" length
Style: Heavy Duty Protection, 8-mil Color: White Size: 8 ft. X 20 ft.
I bought this tarp to cover an18 foot rowing shell plus two sets of oars on a rack. It seems to be good quality. The finished length is supposed to be 19'6" but mine was 3-4" shorter, in case the length is really important to you. The side to side measurement was 7'6" as advertised. It is not easy to find 8' X 20', so I am glad I found this, and thank you fellow reviewers for writing reviews for this tarp. UPDATE: It is 1 1/2 years after I bought this tarp and put it over my boat in Marina del Rey (LA). So the sun can be punishing, however in the marina there is usually cloud cover for much of the year. We do not get freezing cold or snow of course. They few times we had rains this past winter, which are nothing like rain in the rest of the country, more like heavy sprinkle, I had water in my boat. The first winter, no water, but then apparently, tiny holes developed which I cannot see even the sun shining through them. The tarp has also been flaking off what looks like white dust everywhere, on my boat and my black jacket when I handle the tarp. So I suppose I should be happy I got 1 1/2 years out of it in the outdoors 24/7, but I don't enjoy tossing large objects in the trash after a relatively short time, especially plastic. I wish there was a better alternative. ... show more

  • Kept My Move Dry
Style: Ultra Heavy Duty Protection, 16-mil Color: Silver-white Size: 10 ft. X 20 ft.
I bought the 10 x 20 16 mil tarp with the hopes that it would last for my move across the state. I converted my car hauler to a cargo hauler and used this tarp to keep things dry. I am a retired truck driver with lots of flatbed experience so I was sure that this tarp is not transport quality when I received it, but it looked tough enough for my job. I attached the leading edge with lag screws, tucked in the front corners and used lag screws there also. I put 2x2 ribs every four feet across the top to keep it from sagging too much should it rain and to stabilize the sides. I also added padding on the corners to keep stresses to the tarp from sharp edges to minimum. I have pulled the trailer 1500 miles so far with no problems. I had to put the strap across the top to keep it from ballooning at highway speeds at first in the front and then in the rear also. The grommets are reasonably strong, but they can be over stressed with aggressive tightening. I learned quickly that snug is good enough and I've never had a problem with the tarp wanting to blow away, I have hauled it three times over the passes, twice in rain with no leaks, so I am happy. The only negative is that when parked loaded a heavy rain storm went through and dumped about an inch of rain. This resulted in a large pool in the tarp at the back of the trailer that I had to bail out. It stretched the tarp in that section so that it wants to balloon there also, but it did not leak. I one more 200 mile trip and I will be through with this trailer configuration and the tarp will go into storage or to cover hay, I believe that I could have hauled the trailer as pictured to Florida with no problems I had expected to get 2 trips out of the tarp and was prepared to buy another, I am well pleased that one tarp did it all. It was a good value for me. UPDATE 10-20-21: I have finished all of my hauls across the state. The trailer and tarp as pictured have close to 3000 miles on them. The tarp never leaked and all our stuff stayed dry. There were a couple of minor stress points in the tarp where at the corners and the edges. One hole wore into the tarp from a piece of protruding hardware, but nothing on the top, The tarp did stretch a little from heavy rains but I am well pleased over all. ... show more
