The CM-300 clip-type contact mic for tuners directly captures the sound of your instrument. The CM-300 is a clip-type contact microphone that attaches directly to your instrument. It uses a piezo element that sends the vibrations of your instrument directly to your tuner. Even when you're in an environment with high ambient sound, such as a large ensemble, this mic allows high-precision tuning. The shape of the cable's strain relief where it joins the unit has been modified for increased durability in comparison to the previous model, and sound transmission performance has been further improved. Redesigned cable that's even more durable and resistant to stress. The cable provides highly efficient sound transmission, and the sheath has been improved for softness, so that it can now curve flexibly. At the junction where the cable joins the clip, the strain-relief slits have been redesigned to reduce stress on the wire, making it more durable and long-lasting. Clip section that allows stable attachment to a variety of instruments. The clip opens to a maximum width of 30 mm. The rubber inside the clip is shaped in a way that allows attachment to any type of instrument.     • It's literally just a piezo disk soldered to a 1/4" cable.

This is a nicely-presented product, it looks nice and it feels nice - but it's not very good. All this product is, is a 12mm diameter Piezo disk soldered to a piece of microphone cable with a 1/4" mono plug at the other end. That's it. If you're familiar with piezo pickups, you already know what's wrong, but if not: Piezo disks are high impedance sources, and require a preamplifier/buffer to lower the impedance to match the destination (recorder, mixer, etc) - this has none of that, and because of that, the disk and the cable form a high pass filter that cuts out all of your bass and sub-bass, so it sounds tinny. There's room inside the shell to add a simple 1 jfet 2 resistor impedance matching buffer, but if you want to use it without modification, and still want to actually have bass in the signal, you'll need to plug it into a DI box or similar device. You can buy a 10-pack of piezo disks and solder on a phone plug for a third of the price this costs. You're paying for the presentation. ... show more

The cable that came with it was thin and noisy. I opened up the cap where it says korg and replaced the cable with 24awg shielded headphone/control cable and an all metal 1/4" plug. It works great and has no more hum now. It's supposed to be ran on thicker cable since the impedance is 1 Mega ohm.
