We have owned many smaller dogs in the past. Now we have a new medium sized (37lb) dog. This is much more challenging with the bigger size and also younger age (14 months). She chews on everything. I mean absolutely everything. She shreds all chew toys. She shreds all play toys. She is a biting machine. Only a few more years until she grows out of this. I have to say this one thing. Of all of the chew and play toys that we have purchased, all of them have been destroyed within a day or two (EXCEPT these Kong brand ones). We bought the one I'm reviewing, and it works great. We stuff it with some peanut butter and her food. This keeps her busy for about 15 minutes. We have also been told you can push a banana into it and freeze it. We did this too, and it takes her about 30 minutes. We have also purchased a few other Kong chew and play toys that are also still working great. From my experience, I highly recommend this Kong brand for dogs. These Kong people are obviously thinking about the best materials for these types of toys and dogs chewing habits. All of our Kong products are still in play and good. The rest (not all, but most) are in the garbage can. ... show more

My dog has had many chew toys...several from Kong. Every one of them she has destroyed within a couple of weeks or so. This time I decided to order the largest size they carried. This Kong is roughly the same outer size as the two lower models. But, the rubber is a lot thicker. My dog enjoys catching it and chewing on it. But, I don't think she is going to destroy this one for a long time.... ... show more

My boy is a 5-year-old PitBull/German Shepherd mix who typically destroys all toys within a matter of minutes. He loves any type of ball you can throw at him but doesn't seem to understand that they can't be played with anymore once they've been pulverized with sharp teeth, so then he get gets sad and mopes around. He was super excited the moment I threw this to him, and even though it's not a ball, he loves that it still bounces! Be careful, though, because it is a bit on the heavy side so don't throw it near precious valuables or electronics lol! It is just the right size for him to pick up and pack around, and thankfully the perfect size that the whole thing doesn't go into his mouth so I can actually grasp one side of it when he wants to play (he's stingy and never wants to let go, yet he still wants to play fetch.... make it make sense lol!) We've had the toy now for a little over a week and there's not a single tear or chunk missing. I really am starting to think it's indestructible! Time will tell! Sir Duke is happy, so I'm happy. One of best dog treats is peanut butter in a kong. The dogs love it. Keeps them occupied for a reasonably long amount of time. The kongs are tough and indestructible and give the dogs chewing opportunity without being harsh on their teeth.

I am crate training a new foster dog and he has crate anxiety and these kong toys are really helping him slowly get used to his crate. I fill the inside with lightly wetted dog food peanut butter and sometimes whipped cream and I freeze it. I place it in crate and he is distracted and content until the food is gone.
