I couldn’t wait to try the KOIOS immersion hand blender, so I made 2 smoothies for dinner the day I received it. The blender weighs 2 pounds and has a sleek design I would expect to see at Williams-Sonoma. The detachable blending shaft snaps onto the motor body instantly and securely, and easily releases when you press the 2 release buttons. Everything stays dry except the end of the blending shaft, the whisk attachment and milk frother. Before you start, read the instruction booklet, which includes these important tips: – The blending shaft and attachments are NOT dishwasher-safe. But you can clean them thoroughly in seconds by adding one drop of dishwashing liquid to a mug half-filled with water, “frothing” the soapy water in the mug, then detaching the blending shaft and rinsing the blades under running water or in a mug filled with water. – Do NOT use the blender in nonstick cookware. – Do NOT try to blend ice cubes, bones, coffee beans or other hard materials because they will probably damage the blades. (For this reason, I didn’t use frozen fruit.) – To avoid splashing, put the blender into the ingredients before pressing the power button, and release the power button before pulling the blender out. – Use an up-and-down motion to blend. – I read elsewhere you shouldn't blend for longer than 60 sec. continuously, and I wouldn't do more than 30 sec. I experimented in the kitchen sink in case of splatters: SMOOTHIE #1: fresh strawberries + one pouch of gnubees Tropical Fruit Punch Protein Drink (reviewed separately) in a large bowl; speed control dial set on 11 (max 12); blending time ~15 seconds. The blender was POWERFUL. I initially pressed the Turbo/lower button by mistake, then switched to the regular/upper button. The smoothie tasted great, but I pulverized the strawberries and should have blended for less time to leave fruit chunks. The protective blade guard kept my dishware unscathed. SMOOTHIE #2: 1 tablespoon of Bobica wild blueberry powder (reviewed separately) + 1 carton of Siggi’s blueberry yogurt + fresh blueberries + enough milk to fill a large mug halfway; speed control dial 7; blended ~8 seconds using regular power button. This left a few blueberry chunks but was still amazingly thorough. In the photo, the spot on the mug rim was from dripping off the blending shaft, not splattering, which was minimal for both smoothies. RESULTS 5 stars! This blender’s simple and strong design cruised through the smoothie tests while keeping the preparation area tidy. Try shorter blending times than I used because the motor is powerful. Decided I needed to upgrade my small milk frother and whisk, and this came at the perfect time. First thing I love about this is that it’s an actual plug in ( I know being portable is probably better for most but) I’ve honestly grown tired of going through batteries or trying to remember to charge the devices before use. It’s not too hard to clean and I can easily stow it away in one of my kitchen drawers. It is a bit bulky but it may be that I’m just use to my smaller gadgets. I really like the speed setting dial at the top, I haven’t used it on the highest level or turbo as the other speeds work well for me. ... show more

I use this frother every day to make my morning espresso. I am able to froth my creamer at home, which saves me money on a daily basis. The frother works well at low speeds but when I am running late for work, I need it done faster. That is when I hit the turbo button and cut the overall time for completion in half. Frothing is not the only capability of this product though. I have also blended fruits as a topping for my children's pancakes. Being able to hand blend fruit at the exact speed I want allows me to have control over the consistency that I expect. It really is easy to use and clean, and a very good value for an immersion blender. I haven't really got the hang of whisking with it, though, without making a mess. The whisk would be a more useful accessory if there were speed controls. So I would discount the value of the whisk attachment, but even so it is a good value for what I need it for (making soups, for example). ... show more

    • Powerful and fast
I'm always kind of surprised how much power they can jam into these small devices. This mixer doesn't disappoint in that category. If you turn it on in a small vessel, be prepared to have it try to pull the mixing head down into the vessel very quickly, kind of shocking really. As long as you don't try to mix something that will damage the blades, like ice cubes, I'm pretty sure this will liquefy anything it touches no problem. It has 12 speed settings and a 'turbo' button that works on all 12, so if it bogs at all (unlikely), you can sort of jolt it. Both parts that engage, geared and socketed, are made out of some kind of nylon material, probably to keep the noise down. It is fairly quiet when it's operating. Time will tell if they can stand up to the wear well enough. Depends on how it's used I imagine. At any rate, it's not terribly expensive, so if it breaks, it's not going to cripple you financially. It's a nice lender. It's made of plastic. You can adjust the speed, there's also a turbo button just in case the normal speed isn't strong enough, but they're pretty strong if you ask me. It comes with two attachment, a whisk and a frother.

I am very impressed with this three in one, stainless steel immersion blender. This blender comes with an anti scratch immersion attachment, easy to put on and remove. There are two other attachments, a whisk and a milk frother, they are also easy to use. The blender has two buttons that light up, one of being a turbo boost, which I am really enjoying! The blender has 12 speeds and is much more quiet than my old blender. I like how this immersion blender fits perfect in my hand, the hand grip section keeps my hand from sliding out of place. Also attached to the top of the blender is a rubber hook for hanging if you choose. The blender itself with the immersion attachment secured is about 15 inches tall.
