  • A special book with the most gorgeous patterns!
This book is full of 24 stylish designs that include boleros, capes, shrugs & crop tops. Annie has created this book so that you can create moderate to small projects that you will be able to use and look good in. They are designed to be a quicker knit than saying knitted a sweater but more substantial than just making a hat. There are however some patterns that include matching accessories such as a hat or gauntlets. The main patterns are in written format but charts are also supplied for repeating patterns. There are also size guides to help you make a correct fitting garment. Where Annie has used a different technique such as triple twist drop stitch, she provides you with instructions and clear pictures to help you complete the stitch. Each of the designs are in multiple sizes and they are also designed so they are easier to re-size to what you require. The patterns are varied and are for different levels of knitter. There are patterns such as the basketweave bolero that are at an easy level and use basic stitches to create the unique look. Different techniques are used in the book to create the designs, such as entrelac. Annie uses different yarns to create different looks to each of the garments as well as the changes in stitches and shapes. There are the most amazing designs that have a real Downton Abbey look like the The Lace Cuff Shrug. Annie's use of colours is fantastic. Her stained glass circular jacket is spectacular and her Strasbourg Cape is beautiful. As a beginner knitter I'm going to stick to the easy patterns but once my confidence is better I am going to work my way through the book. I received this book to review. However all opinions expressed are my own. No monies were exchanged. ... show more

  • Annie Modesitt presents another fantastic batch of patterns
In her latest book, "Knitted Wraps & Cover-Ups", Annie Modesitt presents another fantastic batch of patterns, interesting in their construction and use of techniques to create one-of-a-kind garments. Looking closely, I began to realize that Annie was again doing her thing and making garments that always have an interesting "twist" in them. Not only does my inner knitter want to see just how she does this, but it also wants to wear these pieces. For example, take the Cross-Body Wrap & Scarf. It is one continuous piece of fabric with undulating cables and small honeycombs, twisted to be worn as a wrap or as a cowl. Or, consider the "Fitted Lace Off-Shoulder Top". Knit in Artyarns Ensemble Glitter Light , it is meant to be worn over a camisole or tank dress. Worked in the round from the bottom up, the front lace panel widens to shoulder width. The short sleeves are knit separately and joined with the body just below the shoulders for a lovely neckline. There are a range of skill levels, from beginner to advanced. The advanced patterns, such as the "Stained Glass Circular Jacket" or the "Log Cabin Cardigan", will challenge the experienced knitter, but are accompanied by detailed instructions that will really help the knitter along. Each pattern has both written instructions and charts, including color where applicable. Not only that but the charts are printed large so there is no need to go to the enlarge function on the copier to get a readable version. ... show more

  • Annie's Latest is a Fun, Useful Book!
This is a fabulous book! I love how Annie has used a variety of techniques to make items that will be fun to knit and practical to wear. Every knitter NEEDS to add this to her bookshelf. Personally, I can't wait to cast on the Strasbourg Cape!
