Features

  • 100% Peruvian wool: Made from 100% Peruvian Highland wool, Knit Picks Wool of the Andes is the perfect yarn for projects that will get used daily, like your favorite sweater, hat, or blanket. Peruvian Highland wool is a strong fiber that has an excellent balance of structure, loft, and drape. As a "sticky" woolmeaning the fibers grip lightly together, Knit Picks Wool of the Andes is an ideal choice for both stranded colorwork and intarsia because stitches "stick" in place, wont shift or loosen as you work.
  • Set of 10: This 10-pack includes ten balls of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes worsted weight 100% Peruvian Highland Wool yarn; 50 grams skeins for 110 yards, 1100 yards total
  • Durable and warm: Wonderfully warm for all weather, Knit Picks Wool of the Andes has excellent stitch definition and heirloom durability. As a worsted weight yarn, its a happy medium weight thats commonly used for everything from garments to home goods.
  • Gauge and Care Instructions: For knitting, 4.5 - 5 sts = 1" on US 6-9 needles; For crochet, 1114 sc = 4'' on I-K hooks. Hand wash in lukewarm water and dry flat; yarn can felt with warm water and agitation
  • Color: Coal is a classic ebony color. Not a true black, but is so close that it can be substituted where black is needed. An essential color to have in your yarn stash.

Description

Color: Coal While careful hand washing will keep your stitches crisp and sweaters long-lived, Wool of the Andes also felts beautifully with warm water and agitation, creating a fabric even more warm and durable than knitting alone. Our classic worsted wool yarn is spun and plied carefully to achieve a wonderfully balanced twist. Spun from Peruvian wool, the strong fiber has an excellent balance of structure, loft, and drape that serves a wide variety of uses. Wonderfully warm for all weather, this sturdy, all-purpose yarn has excellent stitch definition and heirloom durability. It is ideal for cabled sweaters, textured stitch afghans, and every day accessories. Wool of the Andes is plied and spun to take full advantage of the inherent structure, resilience, and memory of wool for making the most fantastic cables you'll ever see. Stitch definition is also excellent for Fair Isle and other colorwork, not just cables, making Wool of the Andes an excellent choice for quick stranded projects. The crisp fiber of Wool of the Andes keeps textured stitches looking and feeling great, bringing visual interest to sweaters, afghans and more, and adding to the natural warmth of wool.

  • Slightly cheaper than knit picks! My go to wool!
Lovee that you can get this on Amazon! It was on sale, and with free shipping, it's a little cheaper than on knit picks! I like to crochet two strand projects with this, and a cotton yarn. The colors are beautiful, and the projects come out stretchy and perfect every time! I don't think I've ever found a factory knot in these either! ... show more

  • Wonderful for Dryer Balls with beautiful colors
Color: Soft
I am so happy with this wool and it is 100% wool. I bought these to make wool dryer balls. I Like color so I wanted these to be pretty beside functional. The skeins are smaller but still seem to be the cheaper way to go. Here's a hint to make a less expensive dryer ball - use that old wool sweater and cut off a chunk and start wrapping your yarn around that. This way I used one skein per ball and ended up with 10 beautiful dryer ball. I love these colors which are in soft heather colors. As for the softness of the yarn, it is wool but one of the more softer wools. This yarn 100% fit my needs and will be purchasing more in the future. ... show more

  • Small skeins and problem with fraying and thinning.
Color: Garnet Heather
These are made of the natural material and are soft. They are Knit Picks brand yarn, 110yards, 50gram balls. Love the color. Hand wash and dry flat. I haven't had the opportunity to knit with them yet. But I know it will be fabulous. UPDATE: I have just started to use the yarn and found many areas of frayed and thinning places all through after knitting 2". Had to stop the sweater for fear of too many knots and breakages. I would give this yarn only1 star now. Color was nice. ... show more

  • Very nice wool yarn!
Color: Cobblestone Heather
This yarn is an excellent value for the price! For crochet, it works up very nicely with almost no splitting or snagging. It's also in that sweet spot of being usable for worsted and DK weight projects by changing hook sizes. The colors were very consistent throughout the pack and the yarn itself has a strong but airy loft. In double crochet, it works up into a medium-weight yarn fabric that folds nicely in all directions, and has a stiff drape. My one downside is that this yarn is not soft. It may soften with washing, but straight out of the pack it is rather scratchy. This does not bother me as the piece I'm making is not going to be worn against skin, just something to note. Also, it is pure wool so hand wash only unless you want it to felt! Definitely would recommend for a fiber crafter looking to explore more natural fiber materials. ... show more

  • Top Notch Yarn
I'm very impressed with this yarn. I've bought many colors over the past two years and it's become my go-to yarn for hats and for fulling knit handbags. The colors are deeply saturated and the staples are very long. Flexible and durable. I love this yarn for so many reasons. Well priced, strong, and flexible. Just make sure not to wash it in the machine unless you want it to felt up and shrink. ... show more

  • Soft And Beautiful Wool Yarn
Color: Cobblestone Heather
This yarn is amazing! My daughter used it to crochet a winter scarf. She didn't have any issues with it. She liked working with it. She said it's soft. This was her first time using wool. No problems at all. Love it! It came over night which was the fastest we ever have gotten anything. The color does match whats offered on Amazon picture. • Great wool, great buy!
Beautiful colors, excellent โ€œhandโ€. Iโ€™ve use this will for several projects: a jacket/sweater, a regular sweater, hat, headband, and they are beautiful. Iโ€™m working now on a sweater that calls for a double strand for a tweed result:
