The media could not be loaded. I’ve used a LOT of ball winders over the years (mostly the plastic ones), and this one is just… wildly helpful. It took me maybe 10 seconds to assemble - seriously, it was so easy - and once I started winding, it was smooth as butter. No wobbling, no jumping across the table, no “please don’t fall apart on me” moments. Compared to other winders I’ve owned, this one just feels solid. With the plastic brands, if I wind too fast (which… let’s be honest, I always do because I want to start knitting), the shaft pops off the base and sends my cake rolling across the floor. It's funny the first time, and then it’s just annoying. This aluminum winder doesn’t do that. It stays put, feels stable, and I don’t have to baby it. The cakes themselves come out super even, too. Some winders make those loose, floppy cakes that fall apart the second you take them off - not this one. Every cake I’ve wound has held together perfectly. And I have to say: the packaging surprised me. The box has a magnetic top and foam inserts, and it honestly feels like unboxing a gift. It made me want to actually take care of this tool instead of tossing it in a drawer. If you’re looking for a gift for a yarn lover, this is a really good one. For me, knitting is as much about the process as the final project, and this ball winder made that process feel a little more special. Five stars, no question. I’m proud to have this thing in my house - it really is the Porsche of ball winders.
