This is a good selection of knives. I prefer the slicing and bread knives to be a little longer. The block is good and the ability to remove the steak knives is nice. The handles look nice, but feel a bit plasticky. I prefer triple rivet. I mostly used the 8" chef as that is my go to. It was OK, but nothing to write home about. X50CrMoV15 is a commonly used steel in German knives. it is NOT high carbon, but has good stainless properties, adequate edge retention and is easy to sharpen. I think if you like the aesthetics and handle, this is an OK set. ... show more

This knife set by imarku, is a very nice set of knives that should impress you. This is one set that not only has beautiful looks, but also comes with razor sharp performance. Here are some of the things I’ve learned while owning it and things to consider before buying. I. Quality – There is no doubt that this is a high end set that comes with quality to match. Everything feels top end from the beautiful high-density pakkawood handles, razor sharp blades, and of course the storage block. II. Performance – These knives come extremely shape. They’re easy to sharpen and seem to hold an edge well for Japanese steel. Although, they will have to be sharpened more often than some others. III. Use – The shape of the handle is very pleasant to hold in your hand and easy to clean without being too soft. Overall – I really like this set of knives with the beauty and performance they offer, being a pleasure to use every time. I highly recommend this set, if you like the look on the screen, you’ll love them when they make their grand entrance. So far everything has held up very well with this set, but if I ever start to have problems with it, I’ll be sure to update this review. If you’d find it helpful to see a visual inspection of this product, I recommend you watch my included video in full screen. They say a picture is worth a 1000 words, well it’s a video! This knife set is sharp in looks and cuts. Preparing this steak I needed to cut away some of the fat, knife went through it like butter. No drag while using the Steak knife. I’m impressed with the clean cuts. I’m giving 4 stars only because of the price

I'll start by saying that these knives exceeded my expectations, especially at this price point. They arrived extremely well packaged with multiple layers of protection for the knife blades. With the exception of the serrated blades, every knife in the set is razor sharp. By that I mean sharp enough to shave the hair off of my forearm. They are well balanced and the handles are beautiful. Blade thickness is excellent - no flexing at all, even with the boning knife. The block is robust, though there is a little bit of play with the removable block housing the steak knives. I'm usually not a fan of serrated steak knives, but these are really nice. They are sharp and feel great in my hands, as do all of the knives in this set. In my opinion, if this set had a German name they would sell for double the price. They are that good. This is an outstanding value at $329, especially since this is most likely the last set of knives you'll ever need to purchase. Easiest 5 stars I've ever given. If you need a good set of knives at a great price point, you can't go wrong here. Highly recommended. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. How many knives is too many for the family kitchen? Be ready to add a few more with this knife set. What sets this knife set apart from others is the Japanese style and wooden grip. Japanese style knives are usually smaller and lighter than traditional western knives. Maybe due to being designed mostly for fish, poultry, and vegetable use. These knives performed well with all manner of chopping, slicing, filleting, etc. I especially like the chef's knife with it's lighter weight and slimmer profile. Japanese knives perform well for precision cutting. It is the handle that really sets this knife set apart from the competition. The wood is beautiful with black and dark brown swirls. It is fine grain and almost ceramic like in appearance. Very beautiful. One concern I had was with the shallow distance between the handle and the bottom of the blade. I was concerned that I would hit my knuckles on the cutting board. However, i automatically adjusted my cutting stroke to be more angled and the knife performed perfectly. Japanese knife cutting technique uses a rolling and twisting motion and these knives excel at this. Pros: - beautiful design with exotic wooden handles - very sharp and perfect for delicate cutting - wooden block holds knives and can separate to keep steak knives elsewhere - comes with high quality scissors and knife sharpener Cons: - wooden block is not the same high quality as the knives. Stain looks cheap - scissors handle is thin and can causes pain to fingers on heavy cutting jobs Summary: - if you want a beautiful knife set for your kitchen, this is it! ... show more

Love this knife set so far. The set of knives is very sharp, and the wood the handles are made of is gorgeous. The 6 steak knife block in the front pulls away from the main block if you want it displayed separately. I would recommend for anybody who needs a good looking set of knives and is looking for an upgrade. Very nice set! Word to the wise though, use extreme caution with these knives! They are so unimaginably sharp that even the slightest scrape over your skin, be it cutting or washing dishes with them, will result in a deep painful albeit clean slice right through your skin!
