    • Decent knives, knife block could use more quality control
I'm by no means a knife expert, nor am I a professional cook, but these seem like pretty decent knives, in my unprofessional opinion. The cooking knives feel lighter than you would expect. I think the handle is hollowed out, but in a way that balances with the blade, so they still feel good in the hand without a whole lot of heft. The steak knives are solid and do a decent job cutting through steaks. I think a smooth edge would probably cut better than a serrated edge, but the trade off there is that a smooth edge would require sharpening a lot more often. I've only had a chance to try out the carving knife, so far, out of the cooking knives, and it effortlessly sliced through a large steak. I've been running the knives through the dishwasher and haven't seen any problems with rust or corrosion. While these are considered dishwasher safe, the instructions still recommend hand washing, but... ain't nobody got time for that! The one part I found disappointing was the knife block.. When I got it, there was some kind of fuzz in the slots.. not sure if it was mold or dust or maybe just rough bits of wood and paint left over from manufacturing, but it did not look like a sanitary place to store freshly dishwashed knives. I scrubbed each slot out with a brush meant for cleaning metal straws, and that seemed to take care of it. Towards the end of cleaning the knife block, a small, sandy pebble popped out of one of the steak knife slots... So yeah.. I'm not sure if it's how the knife blocks are stored prior to shipping, or a problem with the manufacturing process, but a little more quality control would be a big improvement. I was able to trust the knife block after a good scrubbing, so I'll only knock off one star, overall. In conclusion, decent knives, but would have preferred a cleaner knife block out of the box. ... show more

    • Fantastic set of Knives!
For anyone not familiar with the, "Imarku," brand, I checked them out a little bit. By basically just seeing if there were any other sets of knives made by them sold out here. And I found quite a few of them. All of which had an average of like, 4.5 stars, from thousands of reviews. So considering that, along with experiencing using a set of knives made by them, I could definitely recommend this set of knives to anyone who is thinking about getting them. I especially like how this set comes with a sharpening rod. If money isn't an objective for you then it's hard to say what to choose. I mean, there just seems to be endless choices out there, all with high ratings. All I really can say is that I don't think anyone who gets these will be disappointed. And if someone who is getting this set of knives IS disappointed? Well then, you need to try living like our destroyed middle-class, who can't even entertain the idea of getting a set of knives that are as nice as these, because they can't even afford the good food that these knives would be used on... ... show more

This is a nice starter set of knives. Add a cutting board to the shopping list and give someone the gift of spending time in the kitchen. Factory edge is razor shape - and I love the fact it comes with a honing steel. I was always taught to hone every time you touch your knife. Keeps that edge shape for a long time. There is nice light weight to the knifes and they look very well crafted. At this price point - don’t expect greatness, but they are better than you would get at a department store for the same price. First, I like the modern look, no wood or plastic. I like that there are no grooves or cuts for any build up. I never put my knives in the dishwasher, but if someone wanted that option these would be the way to go. I like the weight of the block, no concerns for lifting or tipping, I even like the look of the embedded copper/gold looking logo. Black block, shiny solid silver finish knives. Very classy looking overall set. Then, I like the weight and balance of these in my hand. They are incredibly sharp, like cautious until you get used to them sharp. I do a lot of cooking, so I am not sure how well these will feel after 10 minutes of chopping. I think if I have a long project will probably grab one of my wooden handled favorites. The kitchen shears and steel a bonus. These would make for an impressive looking gift. Especially for someone's first set. Look pretty on the countertop. ... show more

This stainless steel knife set is awesome! Attractive looking, practical and useful - this is an absolute great buy! The knives are sharp - and it includes a knife sharpening rod which is easy to use. The handles are easy to grip and hold. Each piece has a good weight to it - not too heavy but enough to feel sturdy and easy to maneuver. The set is easy to clean and maintain - the knife block is well constructed and isn't large in size so it can be stored in a way that it won't take up much space on your counter. The set is dishwasher safe but I would just hand wash them to be sae. I like this set a lot - it is expensive but I feel as though it is worth the price since this set is extremely durable! I would give this set of knives six stars if I could. I really appreciate good quality tools of all kinds and these are great tools for the kitchen. They are heavy, but well-balanced, look great and are extremely sharp. They are not quite sharp enough to shave with, but pretty close. I already own a set of reasonable quality knives from a reputable maker and this set makes them look like a bunch of dull spoons, even when freshly sharpened. These are by no means the most expensive knives you can purchase however, in this price range they are a fantastic deal. The one downside to this set is that when you touch them you leave fingerprints. Obviously this is not a significant issue since if you use one it will be washed. I highly recommend these knives to anyone who is looking for quality that will last at a good price. ... show more
