At first I wanted to love these but then I looked closely at them and I didn't. Then because I didn't like the way the handles look-plasticy with some flaws-I didn't want to like them at all but when I used them they actually cut pretty well. This is not a 'fine' knife set. They do look kind of cheap. That said, they do cut well. How long they stay sharp I can't say. For a young person getting their first apartment, this is a great starter set of knives. I ordered this set when I saw that it has a small footprint. When I received it, I realized that it is truly small - it fits in such a small space. With no specific sections to hold specific knives, it becomes even more convenient to use. The knives themselves - there are five, from the smallest paring knife to the largest chef's knife - are very comfortable to hold when cutting anything. They fit comfortably into my hand. The blades are very sharp. When making my dog's weekly food prep, I normally dislike chopping carrots and sweet potatoes but this time, using the chef's knife, it was a breeze. it cut through the vegetables effortlessly. There is also a pair of kitchen scissors, with the can opener and bottle opener sections. I only wish the 2 blades of the scissors could be separated so that they could be cleaned more thoroughly. This product is not for sale it rusts with one wash. It says rustproof but I've only owned then for 1 week. Total waste of money have to buy from an alternative supplier
