These work great,simple to set up in KMC SMART app, which has automation settings for date,time,weather,sunrise,sunset. There is a current problem adding them to Alexa as when attempting to add them as a device,selecting type = "plug" and brand = "KMC" Alexa currently attempts to enable the "SMART LIFE" skill,which is the WRONG SKILL! There is a "KMC SMART" skill that it should use. I know this because fortunately I already had the "KMC SMART" skill enabled from purchasing KMC plugs last year. I found out the current problem when I attempted to add 2 replacement plugs KMC's wonderful support sent me after 1 failed defence fly after a year of use. Warranty support was easy,just a couple hoops to do,like AMAZON order and the devices serial(available in the KMC app(which they support gave instructions on where to find the serial in the app and the app even provided a convenient "copy" button for the long serial. They sent me 2 new plugs, in just a couple days, even though mine failed just after the warranty year,and even though only 1 failed. Can't beat support like that. hopefully KMC and Amazon will get together and fix the problem in Alexa for enabling the KMC SMART skill for KMC SMART devices instead of the SMART LIFE skill. BTW, even though I already had the skill enebled , it still took a day for it to sync/add the devices to Alexa. This is something I've found as a problem in many areas of Alexa, being slow to update changes in all areas,like skills,contacts adds and changes,devices,etc. I've found not to get too upset,just give it a day. Alexa is a very slow app,even when starting up it's noticable. ... show more

First off - definitely buy these, because they do what they say they will, and they make life a whole lot easier (and your home more aesthetically pleasing). Note that I am only using them with the KMC Smart app (not Alexa, voice, or other options), so this review speaks solely to functionality on that app (installed on iPhone). The Negative: 1. They are a bit large; if you are installing them on a crowded strip, or even a wall plate with a tight squeeze with a neighboring plug, you may not be able to fit them. 2. Slow to pair initially, and sometimes you have to repeat the process before the app connects. 3. Sometimes the app shows the connection as offline for no reason. Restarting the app helps. Just a little but annoying glitch. 4. You can create a setting that turns ON at a specific time of day (good for Christmas lights), but for some reason, adding a second commend to turn OFF doesn’t work. 5. I read that they lose all functionality after a blackout, so you have to start from scratch in that instance (pain in the you know what when you have several). However I haven’t experienced this personally (very few blackouts in my area). The Positive: 1. Well-priced at around $5 apiece 2. App is easy to use 3. Name each plug whatever you like 4. Eliminate the need to keep unsightly cords and switches accessible/visible in your space ... show more

So I got these for lights and tanks. I set the first one with the light on my moss terrarium and the others for air stones for my tanks. I'm not the techiest and found these easy to set up. First you download their app and then you plug them where wanted, hold button for 5 seconds, and it easy sailing after that.
