Beats all the other clip-ons I've used

When I first discovered clip on tuners, I was hooked. As I am lazy about any piece of gear which has to be plugged in, the clip on tuner solved all that for almost any situation. When I say "almost", I mean that although clip on tuners can be used for intonation, I wouldn't use one of them personally. Although these tuners are becoming more accurate at an almost exponential rate ( as with all other digital effects and similar devices ), the same can be said of more expensive higher end tuners as well. I have a ton of older tuners in some boxes somewhere, and I mainly use clip-ons, but for any type of "benchwork intonatiion" I have two much more accurate units for that job. The first is a Sabine rack tuner ( nearly twenty years old ) which is still very accurate, but the most accurate is my TC electronic polytune. This is the absolutely best tuner for the money made by anyone anywhere. A digital strobe tuner within one cent accuracy in a pedal which costs under a hundred bucks and can hang with any Peterson. Back to the UberTuner. I've been using Snarks for quite awhile because they're cheap enough to buy one for every guitar and acoustic instrument you own, including electric and bass guitars. The UberTuner ( sounds like the rank of a Nazi SS band conductor ) is superior in several ways. With the Snark, you can hit the note but the "needle" seem to always go back and forth from flat to sharp forever. With the UberTuner, you just hit the note, wait for the solid blue circle, and you're in there almost instantly. One of the best features is the huge display which is very bright along with a 3 second automatic shutoff when you're not tuning. The clip is very strong and sturdy along with the rest of the tuner. I use clip-on tuners for jamming alone at home, jamming with other guitarists, and live gigs ( electric and acoustic ). The only place I won't use one is in the studio or doing a setup. I've heard some complaints here about the on button needing to be a different color besides black. Well, the one I just got has a silver power button with the other two black ones for adjusting settings. I've also seen some people comment about the display having a slight delay in powering up and the tuner taking some time finding the correct tuning. Maybe mine is an updated version, but it powers on instantly and locks on to the correct tuning within a couple of seconds. I have no complaints about this tuner whatsoever and would highly recommend it to anyone over other clip-on tuners out there.

The real deal!

I recently bought the Kliq Ubertuner after it was recommended to my by another musician friend of mine. As a professional singer/songwriter/guitarist, I need equipment that is not only high quality, but will also be durable enough to withstand the wear and tear of constant gigging. All I can say about the Kliq Ubertuner is that it truly meets my standards. Design: The first thing that caught my eye when I opened the box is how well this tuner is designed and built. The clip is large and sturdy, which makes it easier to use for those of us with big hands and stays clipped on the instrument incredibly well. The 3 joint swivel arm that the display is mounted on is easy to turn/adjust, but feels incredibly sturdy as well. And the LED display (which I is my favorite part of the tuner) is simply gorgeous. It’s probably the largest display on any clip on tuner that I’ve ever owned, but is in no way bulky. The colorful display is bright and clear, which makes it super easy to read in any lighting situation (bright or dark). Oh, and it’s also worth mentioning that the black matte finish on the tuner was an AWESOME and attractive choice by Kliq. Well done! Performance: Aside from the great design, the TUNER itself is wonderful. After hours of using it both on stage and at home, I must say that it is incredibly accurate (as advertised). It will cover any tuning configuration you need (standard and alternate tunings), and will do it incredibly well. The accuracy of the tuner is only complimented by the gorgeous LED display, which is super responsive. Also as advertised, ambient/outside noises and tones do not affect the performance of the tuner, which is great in noisy live situations. Performance wise, this thing is the real deal! In closing, I’ll say that even though there are ton’s of clip on instrument tuners on the market today, the new Kliq Ubertuner has quickly become my new favorite. Not only is it built like a tank, it’s both incredibly functional as well as sexy, all at the same time. I can’t wait to see what Kliq comes out with next!

I sort of don't trust this tuner because I'm seeing the exact same one being sold under different brand names. I know that may not affect the quality of the product but it doesn't inspire trust either. Otherwise this does seem to tune accurately and quickly. I first used this to tune a Martin that I was changing strings on and it knew which string I was trying to tune and accurately identified the note fast. It's easy to turn on, has a nifty power saving mode where it'll shut off automatically after 2 minutes if you're not using it, and it has a bright screen that's easy to read. The screen tilts and moves in every direction you need and the whole thing feels real solid so I'm not afraid it'll fall apart or break. I've always relied on pedal tuners or my iPhone for tuning and I was just sick of having to plug in my acoustic-electrics that didn't have a built in tuner or pulling out my phone and trying to balance it on my leg while tuning. This makes this really quick and painless. I should have gotten one a long time ago.

Easy, Fast, and Accurate

I am not at all musically inclined, but I sent this as a gift to a guitar virtuoso relative who was kind enough to provide his initial impressions. His comments follow; From the packaging it’s immediately evident that the Kliq Ubertuner All Instrument Clip-on Tuner is a superior version of the ubiquitous clip-on tuners you see on so many instruments at so many gigs. This is a very refined technical version of the concept of a Piezo sensor-based tuning technology. In essence, the tuner does not “hear” the note it is asked to legitimize, it “feels” it through the vibration generated by the string and transmitted through the guitar body up through the neck. The KLIQ specifies its Tuning Precision as +/- 1%. In practical terms, you achieve a perfectly-tuned guitar by following the simple directions, keeping in mind that the nuance of bringing a string “up to” pitch from a flat rather than “down” from a sharp is a rule that predates any kind of tuning technology. The KLIQ sets up in two or three minutes.The battery compartment snaps open, the included 2032 "button" battery is inserted PLUS side up, and battery drawer is snapped back into the body. An easy-to-find Power On/Off button wakes up the sensor, and away you go. As a guitar player, I set the Tuning Mode to “G” (Guitar) and I hit the low E (6th) string. It’s sharp as the red bars tell me. I tune down past where the E should be, and slowly twist the tuning knob (the one that tightens the string) until the yellow indicator lights go to the top of the readout, and the center circle turns solid green. The readout in the center of the screen confirms that I am working on the E6 string. I follow the procedure for the remaining five strings, being sure to tune “up" each time. When I overdo it, and the red sharp indicators flash on, I make sure to turn back down past the note I’m trying to nail, and then slowly creep up to it. If you ever get the sense that the tuner isn’t “working,” it may be because you tune down to a note, which always leaves a little bit of slack in the string, which then causes it to drift out of tune pretty quickly. You may also have some looseness in your tuning pegs, or slop in the way the string is wound around the peg. Bridge pins have to be solidly in place, too. If your E6 string registers perfect pitch, and you're out of tune as you play notes going up the neck, you may have set-up issues like overly high action which requires too much stretch when you play a note, which of course, changes (sharps) the pitch. If everything else on the instrument (I can only talk about guitars) is where it should be, the KLIQ Ubertuner can be relied on to do its job precisely. It is user-friendly. You can swivel it to keep the screen in virtually any position you prefer. You can tune, shut off the power to save the battery, and start the KLIQ up again with the touch of a button. Other features include a choice of tuning modes… Chromatic, Guitar, Bass, Violin, and Ukulele. There are calibration possibilities, and transposition settings. The unit weighs 1.4 Ounces, so there’s no risk of neck strain if you leave the tuner clipped to the headstock. It is a professional, all-black little gem that I affix to vintage guitars with no fear of damage. All in all, this is the pick of the litter, and a slick way to improve your sound and get things back to where they should be quickly and smoothly after a lot of string bending or vigorous playing. A lot of students give up because their playing never gets beyond that beginners’ sound. In my experience, it’s a tuning issue 9 out of 10 times. The KLIQ may mean the difference between giving up, and going on to play Carnegie Hall.

great tuner

i never read the intructions to start. i clipped it on my guitar. i pressed the on button and it didn't come on so i pressed it and held it longer and it came on. i waited till all the lights came on before i released the on button. something that u might consider doing if u let go too early it might not stay on. then adjusting the little screen so i can see it while i have the guitar on playing position. now the other button below the power button has the modes. pressed it once to get it to guitar mode G for guitar. the other letters were B for bass, V for violin, C for chromatic and U for ukelele for a total of 5 instruments. anyway, i've been playing my guitar with this tuner attached to the head stock and its on there firmly. not once did it come off so the clip is great so far. as far as battery life i don't know how long these 3V batteries will last. also when you're outside on a bright sun u will have to go to a shaded area otherwise you won't be able to see the display screen. i don't know though if u can keep this on if you put your guitar on a hard case but i can keep it on a soft gig bag. like i said i play my guitar almost every day so i just keep it on cause i don't like taking it on and off and one day i might misplace it and waste time looking for it for example going to the park, friends house, etc. so i just keep it on my guitar. it doesn't affect the playability nor adds weight and don't have to look for it when i need to tune my guitar. overall i'm very happy with this tuner. it's very accurate and i highly recommend it. i didn't go for the rechargeable one since we all know rechargeable internal batteries don't last long and when it won't charge anymore its done. so far its been almost a month and using it every 2-3 days batteries that came with it still ok.

Fantastic tuner! One of my favorite purchases of all time bar none!

This is quite possibly the greatest thing I have ever spent money on. You will never desire to use a handheld tuner, tuning fork, pitch pipe, rack mounted tuner, stomp box tuner, plug and play tuner, built in amp tuner, tuner app, DAW interface tuner, or any thing else once you use this. You can tune to any cent you want and it's fully chromatic. That means you can get any tuning you want out of it - open tunings and microtonal tunings alike! And it works so well too! I recently switched string gauges, reset the action and reintonated one of my seven strings. It was so easy I actually looked forward to setting up my eight string! It also automatically shuts off if you haven't plucked a string for a while, conserving battery power while providing you ample time to fine tune your instrument It's stylish too! I promise it'll turn heads in the practice studio. The only single knock I can think of is that it has issues picking up the low F# string on my eight string guitar when trying to downtune it to drop E (that would be an E1 {EBEADGBE}). It can read F# and F and I even think D#, but it just has a little trouble finding the sweet spot for E on that string. I haven't tried it with a bass guitar and I mention that since the low E on a standard bass matches the note I'm trying to tune to. I doubt that it wouldn't pick up the note on a bass since the gauge and scale are so much larger and provide better resonance through the headstock. That said, the tuner does still read the note, it just doesn't pick it up as quick. I think overtones from the other 7 strings (even when muted) might interfere at that frequency. I am still giving it five start because it's hard for me to fault it for that when that particular string is so difficult to tune, even by ear! So to sum it up, this tuner works better than any I've ever used before. The only minor issue I have is on a regular guitar trying to tune to E1. I'm sure it would be able to tune to that note on a real bass. I'm now convinced that everything should come in clip-on form. Do yourself a favor and buy this tuner now!

Easy to see, easy to use, I LOVE this tuner

KLIQ, without having to be asked, e-mailed me a readable copy of the minutely printed instruction sheet that comes in the tuner carton. This made all the difference to a quick start with the new tuner. The separately packaged battery (similar shape and near the size of a quarter) must be fit into a little drawer which is then inserted into the tuner. Being able to read and follow KLIQ's good directions produced success on the first try. Installing the battery was not at all difficult once I had read the directions. Did I mention you NEED TO READ THE DIRECTIONS before attempting to install the battery? Good! Just wanted to make sure everyone notices that installing the battery by guess and by golly will likely end badly. There are three buttons on the side. It is important to identify the power button and, again, read the directions. Just tapping will not turn on the tuner. You must press and hold the power button for two seconds or so until the face lights up -- a nice safeguard against an accidental bump. This tuner is superbly designed to be clearly visible from a distance even more than arm's length. When the yellow is lit, the note is flat; red means sharp. When only the green circle is lit, the note is right on. The tuning seemed to be fine for playing with my group. I'll leave the fine point of whether the tuner actually tunes to 440-A to the science guys. Sounded fine to me though and I don't have a tin ear. The tuner and clamp are of sturdy plastic construction with some metal parts. If your instrument has a scroll head, this clamp may not have room to fit. I found that the clamp cannot attach to my dulcimer which has a very wide scroll head, but does fit the dulcimer with the flat head, the home made banjo, and the folk harp. Placement on the harp should be on the pillar above the soundbox as pictured. The thick rubber pads on the feet of the clamp give promise of long-lasting protection for the instruments' finish. Since I am vision impaired, it is a delight to finally have a tuner that I can read easily from as far away as arm's length: no need to bend and peer. And this tuner is bright enough to be easily useable in stage light. The viewing angle is adjustable with a nicely designed joint. Once adjusted, the tuner stays put. I would recommend this tuner to anyone playing a fretted instrument with a flat head. It doesn't fit on my dulcimer with the wide scroll head; but will probably fit narrower ones such as violin scrolls. There are some features I have not tried, so I will leave them to others. I have been using tuners of various types for many years and this baby is definitely going to be my favorite. The price is right. The weight is negligible. And the battery required is available at local stores. One point: I didn't check if it turns off automatically. Until I get around to reading that part of the directions, I shall just try to remember to shut it off by holding the power button 'til the screen goes entirely dark after use. If it doesn't shut off automatically, that probably ought to be the next upgrade along with a clamp that accommodates all types of scroll headed instruments. Lovely tuner! Nice design job, whoever invented this is brilliant!!!

Great Price, Beautiful Display

I’m pretty new to this. In fact, I just started to play the guitar a couple of weeks ago. Someone told me that I needed to get a tuner so I looked around at a few. I was contemplating between this one by KLIQ and another one by Yamaha but eventually went for this after reading a bunch of reviews. It seemed easy to use and that’s what mattered to me. The package came quickly and I tried it right away. It comes with a clip so you can just attach it to the guitar. The construction seems solid, I don’t see it breaking any time soon. I must have, the display looks really nice. Everything is very bright and clear no matter what angle you’re looking at it from. I wasn’t sure how to use it exactly at first but I eventually got the hang of it and was able to tune my guitar just fine. During my tuner research I came across these musicians earplugs so I picked some up to help me focus on tuning. They actually work pretty well so I still wear them when I’m playing (especially if there’s a lot of background noise). The only thing is I wish there was some sort of sleep mode. That would prevent me from having to leave it running the entire time, which I’m guessing will eventually take a toll on the battery. Speaking of battery, it uses the flat kind that’s the size of a quarter. It comes with the tuner however so you don’t have to worry about having to buy it separately. To put it in, you have to pull out the drawer first. It’s pretty simple. So yes, I’m happy with my purchase. The price was reasonable and the quality is there. I would gladly recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a tuner for their instrument! I forgot to mention this but the company also offers a good warranty so there’s that too. Considering that, you really can’t go wrong with making the purchase.
