  • NEW MODEL RP-500SA II. Sounds phenomenal.
Color: Brown
Before I get this review started, I did not purchase it in Amazon. They were out of the mahogany color, so I had to purchase somewhere else, but I wanted to do a review here because most my purchases come from Amazon. Like the title says this is the newer model. It is 75 W a channel, the previous older model only did 70 and smaller drivers. The first generation one did 50 and it's a massive improvement. The driver is massive. Each one is about 8 to 9 pounds in terms of weight. High quality build like Klipsch always does and BIG improvement. I had the first generation one that I sold and it was a bit underpowered. I was going to purchase the previous model till I found out that they released a NEWER version which is this one: RP-500SA II. It's a massive improvement over the first and second generation one. (This one is labeled II but original was their first Atmos speaker that came before 500SA and then 500SA II). The driver is bigger, and the sound is very noticeable. A quick tip: after you set everything up using the built-in microphone of your receiver. If you don't do yours by hand, you may need to crank the speakers up a few notches to make them more noticeable because everybody has a preference for the sound. Sometimes auto set up is slightly off and Klipsch forums and customer support say should increase in a bit to your liking. It does add a layer of sound you don't hear. Obviously, if you buy two more and place them behind you, they're more noticeable, but you definitely hear a new layer of sound you can hang the speakers on the wall aiming down that's another type of set up that you can do on Atmos, receivers. Some like them aiming down (mine work better aiming up) but every house and set is diffrent. There's not much to say about it because they're speakers and they do perform great. (Just remember to use Atmos content). My Denon disabled 'virtual surround' when it 'see's ' Atmos speakers. Virtual, normally imitates heights speakers off 2 channels but not needed when you add Atmos. When the receiver sees Atmos Content like bluerays in 4k etc or Apple TV+ content, HBO MAX etc it will show on the receiver. I will say that the sound is more noticeable when you're actually using the physical 4K disk on a Blu-ray player because it's more high-quality than a compress stream. However, the online compress continent is still great sounding but the best sound? Through a 4K disk. Still noticeable on stream content. (just a heads up). I really love the new design with the gold spin in the center. And decided to purchase them in mahogany so that they can stand out from the other speakers. This model is meant to attach to their other reference line that has 2 plugs right behind the top of the speaker BUT can be used on any speaker that can hold it. (Mine is RF-62II from klipsch) which lacks the plug BUT you can run the wire like normal. The sound quality is excellent, and has more than enough power to run. The speakers them selves are not power-hungry and efficient but as I said before, after you set everything up, you may want to crank the volume of the speakers to your liking. Each house set up is completely different. You'll just have to experiment with yours. What I normally do is use a microphone to see the distance, and simply change the trim of my speakers to my liking in the house. Sometimes set up mics see Klipsch speakers as 'louder' and reduces the sound power in negative (-) which reduces power. Set up everything the way you want it and then increase the trim levels of the Dolby Atmos Klipsch speakers if it sounds too weak. Also, before I forget, the crossover setting have to increase it to 150 that's directly from the manufacturer Klipsch and it's in the instruction manual, so even if the auto set up season is 40 increase it to 150 because they are not bass heavy speaker ,they're mostly mids and highs. I mostly switch all mine to 80 (THX) level and Atmos to 150 and subwoofer (its a 15 inch) to 120 to focus on the lows. ... show more
