  • Great for this price

I'm an audiophile and very picky when it comes to sound quality. However, for this price, this is a no-brainer. This was a subwoofer which I started my bass journey from. It's pretty good for its price. I used it both in my Home Theater and in my music room. I highly recommend calibrating it if you're going to listen to music on it. Not because this particular model needs calibration, but because every subwoofer needs calibration. I personally use a UMIK-1 calibration microphone and free REW software. The microphone measures the response and software generates filters (equalizer) to improve that frequency response, usually make it move flat, more even. Many advanced audio-video receivers support similar calibration, only instead of a software on your PC, the software/hardware in the receiver will do it. The result is amazing, as if you've upgraded your sound system to something much better and much more expensive. I also recommend getting 2 subwoofers if you have space and can afford it. There are 2-3 main reasons for this: 1) There's a myth that we don't hear/feel where the bass is coming from. It's a myth. With one subwoofer on your right side, for example, you will hear and feel the bass and sound pressure coming from the right. 2 subwoofers make the bass come from both sides. 2) If a subwoofer is located not in an ideal position, it may have nulls at some frequencies, where a reflected wave weakens a new wave coming out of the subwoofer. On a frequency response graph, it will look like a V-dip at some frequency(ies). However, if you put a 2nd subwoofer in a better location (usually a corner of the room) it will compensate for those nulls and improve the total frequency response, make it flatter. You can also fix nulls with an equalizer (so again, I highly recommend doing proper calibration). 3) This was not important for me, but some people enjoy the increased sound pressure from 2 subwoofers. Usually it adds 3 - 6 db. ... show more

  • Sound quality.

Outstanding. Just watched the first episode of the Falcon and the winter soldier. I got blown out of my seat. This sub rumbles like nothing I have heard before. By this and let juice your home theater system.

  • Awesome Klipsch Subwoofer!
Style: Single
Personally, I have always liked the great sound, quality, unique "copper" look, and relatively low cost of Klipsch speakers. This great R-120SW subwoofer is no exception. This subwoofer was delivered well packed, and in perfect condition. This subwoofer also works perfectly with absolutely no 60hz ground-loop hum, distortion, cone snaps, crackles or pops, or chuffing out of the rear port. This subwoofer also runs cool even when pushed to higher volumes for extended periods. Overall, I am very impressed with this subwoofer. I am sure it will last many years, just like all of the rest of Klipsch's great products. I purchased this subwoofer to replace a (still working great after 12 years) Pioneer Andrew Jones Designed SW-8 subwoofer. I was just looking for a little more low-end frequency for movies and music, and boy does this Klipsch subwoofer deliver. The 100 watt, 8" Pioneer subwoofer only produced frequencies down to 36hz, while this much larger and higher powered Klipsch subwoofer goes down to 29hz. I now hear and feel bass I had previously been missing with the Pioneer subwoofer. My main home theater system now consists of 5 (also 12 years old) original Pioneer Andrew Jones Designed speakers (2 floor, 2 rear surround, and 1 center channel), this Klipsch subwoofer, a Denon AV receiver, and a Samsung 4K 65 inch OLED television, and they all work seamlessly together. I recently upgraded the stock, weak tweeters in the otherwise great Pioneer speakers, with Goldwood GT-520 silk dome horn loaded tweeters, and that made a huge difference in balancing all of the frequencies from high to low. The tweeter upgrade, along with The addition of this subwoofer, really completed the sound I was looking for, as the Pioneer speakers sound great, but tend to be a bit midrange focused, out-of-the-box. This Klipsch subwoofer is really easy to setup. Unpack it, place it in a corner, plug in a good quality shielded subwoofer coax cable from the sub-out RCA jack on the back of the AV receiver to the white LFE RCA jack on the back of the subwoofer. Then plug in the power cable, turn on the AV receiver and subwoofer, and wallah, there is bass. I have the gain set to just past half way (after using the AV receiver speaker calibration), the crossover set to LFE, the phase at zero, and the power to auto. I initially ran the auto speaker calibration setup in the Denon AV receiver to match the sound to all 6 speakers, and it did a great job. I have the subwoofer and all of the speaker crossovers set to 80hz, per THX standards. The subwoofer is also set to "LFE+Main" in the AV receiver, so it works equally well with movies, TV, and music. It's hard to describe how amazing this home theater setup looks and sounds now with this new Klipsch subwoofer. The only "drawback" I would say this subwoofer may have is that there are no high-level in/out speaker connections for connecting it to an older amp, or a small portable amp, using standard speaker wires. However, that omission won't really affect most users. I highly recommend this excellent Klipsch subwoofer for anyone looking to build or upgrade a home theater and/or music stereo system. The retail price of this subwoofer (and all Klipsch speakers in general) may be a bit steep for some individuals' budgets, but Klipsch speakers are ALWAYS on sale, and steeply discounted everywhere. However, In my humble opinion, you really can't go wrong with Klipsch products at any price. Buy this great subwoofer now! No, wait, buy 2 when you find them at a great low price! ... show more

clean, house shaking low frequency Bass. It works well with my speaker system. I am sure that a person can spend more and get a little bit better. I am happy with mine, it easily filled the need for a touch more clean bass in my system!

  • THE BEST DEAL

ONCE YOU GET IT TUNED IN, IT BLENDS IN BEAUTIFULLY WITH THE REST OF THE SYSTEM. IF YOU WANT IT LOUD IT CAN DO IT, BUT I LIKE IT AS AN ADDITION TO THE SYSTEM NOT TO OVER POWER EVERYTHING ELSE. I WOULD BUY THIS AGAIN, I JUST DONT KNOW IF I WANT TO ADD A SCEOND SUB. IT MIGHT BE JUST TO MUCH.

I was not expecting much from this subwoofer because of the cost. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. I am no audiophile just wanted more base from my receiver bookshelf speaker set up. This speaker lets you dial your sound with phase, gain. This thing is so powerful that it vibrates my walls and I had to dial the gain way back to not over power my book shelf set up. I am buying some Klipsh floor standing speakers to keep up with this subwoofer. I’m ... show more

  • Good Value

I bought the Klipsch core 300 sound bar and found it odd that they wanted $600 for a 12" sub that's "compatible". I get it, this sub is not wireless but that didn't matter to me. Plus, I liked the copper cone versus fabric. My kitty cat would have just trashed the $600 version's fabric. I have another higher-end 12" sub bought a few years ago for 4x this price. The Klipsch bumps just fine in comparison thank you very much. ... show more
