I had not purchased a boombox in quite a few years when I saw this one. I decided to purchase it and try it out, because it has numerous functions and should serve me well when I need to play various types of media from the past (or present). The Klim boombox is quite compact, measuring about 8 ½ inches wide and long, and about 5 ½ inches tall. It weighs about 3 pounds 2 ounces. It can be powered through its included AC cord or by six “C” size batteries (not included). It comes with a nicely written and illustrated, detailed instruction manual and a remote control (batteries included). It is equipped with a built-in telescoping antenna for improving the reception of its radio. It has built-in stereo speakers as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack. The boombox is quite versatile, having the ability to play CDs, AM/FM radio, tape cassettes, and music transmitted to it through its USB-A port, its 3.5mm stereo AUX input port, or through Bluetooth. It can be played through its speakers as well as through headphones or external speakers connected through the 3.5mm headphone/output jack. It has a basic equalizer built in, activated using the EQ button, which can alter the sound by selecting Flat, Classical, Jazz, Rock, or Pop as the setting for playback. I tested the device’s ability to play CDs, cassette tapes, radio, and Bluetooth input. In all of those cases, it functioned very well, producing clear and adequately loud sound. At first I had a problem getting the cassette function to make any sound. I inserted a cassette and pressed Play, but no sound was produced, even though I could see that the tape was moving. I eventually realized that I had to select the Tape function with the function selector button, which doubles as the power button. Once I made that selection, the tape played with no problems. This boombox turned out to be an excellent solution for playing several types of media. If you have old (or new) cassette tapes to play, this device will do the job, while also handling CDs, AM/FM radio, and the other media mentioned. My only criticism is that the unit does not provide any significant amount of bass sounds in music playback when played through the built-in speakers. That is to be expected in a unit of this small size, though, and you can get considerably better bass sound when playing the device through headphones or external speakers. Overall, this is an excellent, well-functioning boombox for those who want a compact, versatile way to play several types of media.

Growing up the CD/Cassette/Radio boombox was a must have at the turn of the millennium for a middle schooler. While I am no longer in middle school and many of my CDs have been replaced by either MP3s, streaming or vinyl records I still need a way to listen to my remaining CDs. Fortunately this little boombox does it all, with the modern update of bluetooth capabilities. The bluetooth connection from my phone does an excellent job and has a strong connection. Certainly better sound than my phone's built in speakers, but not as good as my dedicated audiophile adjacent bookcase speaker. The sound quality for the CD player is pretty good, but is obviously not going to be comparable to a proper stereo. It is probably similar in quality to the boombox I had growing up, think something for parties or barbecues, not an audiophile piece. The one strike I have against it is that it cannot transmit to my bluetooth headphones, rather it can only receive bluetooth. While I can manually plug headphones into the aux jack it does not allow for me to be as mobile as I would hope. Another feature to be aware of is this requires external, disposable batteries. It was a little bit of a shock, as I have very much gotten used to rechargeable internal batteries, and while this is not a strike against the product it does shift how it can be used. I haven't tested it with batteries, only plugged in.

I bought this player because I wanted something that could handle several different types of media in one place, and so far it has been a really enjoyable addition to my home. I like that it plays CDs and cassette tapes but also includes Bluetooth, which makes it easy to connect my phone. The sound quality has been solid for the size of the unit. It fills the room well and works great for casual listening. I also appreciate that it includes a remote control, which makes it convenient when I am across the room. One of the things I enjoy most is how many options this player gives me. I have been able to listen to some of my older cassette tapes again, which has been fun and nostalgic. The CD player works smoothly and reads my discs without any trouble. Bluetooth pairing was quick and simple, and I had music playing from my phone within minutes. The radio also comes in clearly, and I like having that option when I just want something playing in the background. There are a couple small things I noticed that could be better. The unit is fairly lightweight, which is nice for moving it around but it can make it feel a little less sturdy than I expected. The buttons are also a bit small, so it took me a moment to get used to where everything was located. Even with those minor issues, it has worked well for what I wanted. Overall it has been a great way for me to enjoy both older music formats and modern streaming in one simple device.
