The only reason I docked a star is that I feel like this isn't long enough to tie in the back. For a cheap alternative to the Heatless Hair curling ribbon, this is pretty good! I have shoulder length hair and I wasn't sure if it would work or not because I hardly see any reviews on these with people with short hair. Especially people with layers like me! I highly recommend watching the YouTube video by Milabu called "foolproof heatless curls". She will show you how to do this do you get a more textured look. If you want a more wavy look, you can curl all your hair the same direction, but her method makes it pretty (in my opinion) and textured. The thing is, her hair is long and pretty and mine is short. So I ran into the problem of having prices of hair in the back that just didn't curl. What's super important to do, I have come to find out if you have the same kind of haircut as me, make sure you change how the curling ribbon is sitting on your head. Milabu (I don't know her real name, sorry) had the ribbon going from her front hair line to the nape of her neck. It works for her because she has long hair so it doesn't really matter where the curls start for her. But if I just do what she did, I would have non-curled pieces with curly ends, because the hair would be stretched over to the ribbon and would barely be able to wrap around if that makes sense. So instead of going down right towards the nape of my neck, I make sure the ribbon goes a bit more straight back. Now this takes practice. You need the pieces to sit nice and flat and tight onto the ribbon and not bunch up or you won't get as good of results. So as you wrap, make sure the ribbon is held so that it goes a bit more straight back so that it's more parallel to the floor. It won't be perfect and might still slant down, but it's better than putting it on like youd wear a headband. This will help you actually have curliness in the back. Also it will help you have curls at the top instead of having a flat area and then curls. Now I sometimes like to keep the center part like Milabu, but I often like to part it on the side after I take the curls out. I personally feel like that's so pretty and really showcases the curls with beautiful volume on the side. It also helps disguise your part. Also I like to tease it a bit on both sides b cause I swear my head is a triangle. Play around with it! Don't give up on the first try. If you want curls the way I had them, do it the way I suggested. And make sure you do use some sort of anti frizz to help tame it, especially if you have coarser hair like me. Overall I give this specific ribbon an 8/10. I wish it was longer and I wish the wire inside was more impressionable to my head. ... show more

I am giving it a 4 just because I ordered it to see if it would be less time and help me with less repetitive motion due to my issues with my arm and neck. It took me a less time than curling but longer due to having to keep my arms up. It definitely worked though. I have thin, natural wavy hair I figured it would work anyway. I washed my hair, air dried with my normal leave in conditioner, waited to do this when my hair was dried, dampened my hair, left it in for 3 hours and this was the result. Again I have thin hair so my hair doesn’t take long to dry, but I just need to get the technique down so my hair doesn’t come out so frizzy, and ends kinked. But definitely something to have and worth the money for a quick hairstyle for a day you know you won’t have time in the morning especially if you’re a momma. ... show more

Ok I didn't think this would work. My hair is thin-ish and doesn't hold curl that well. I burn myself non-stop with the curling wand just to have my hair lose most of the curl. So I tried this. First I did it with damp hair and slept in it. Looked nice but the back didn't fully dry and looked frizzy and barely curled. So then I tried the suggestions in the reviews and a few youtube videos and they said DRY HAIR. So I put it back in and OMG MY HAIR WAS GORGEOUS the next day. A beautiful wave, my hair was silky and shiny AND it lasted THREE DAYS!!! I brushed them out each day so they loosened a bit but stil VERY pretty. I may never use my curling wand again being I read you can put this in your hair for 2 hours and it will work. The tighter you wrap your hair the tighter the curl so you CAN get different looks. ONLY con is that you don't get volume at the crown so I just use my Voloom and that problem is solved. ... show more

I have waist-length, relatively thick but fine hair, with a slight wave around my shoulders and down. It has thinned out in the past couple of years, but there's still a lot of hair. It has never held curls for more than an hour, unless I used those spiky little rollers, which are not only super uncomfortable to sleep in, but also ripped out more hair than they curled. This is super easy to use, actually worked on dry hair, and gave me some nice long curls. I got these on prime day sale they definitely work after a couple of tries if you have thick hair that takes forever to dry, I would wait until your hair is *mostly* dry throughout, and then TIGHTLY curl your hair around the rods. also add spray for texturing i would recommend purchasing off-brand because you really need a hair clamp on top to make it work which doesn't come with the kit (wheras ther off brands have one for cheaper) ... show more

Love this! My hair never stays in curls without a trillion pounds of hair spray, but somehow the curls stay from this! I leave it on overnight with damp hair. I haven’t yet been able to get the same perfect curls as the pics (hence 4 stars) but for everyday hair, this product is absolutely perfect.
