  • Powers through 6 cups of bread dough like nothing and looks great!
Color: Cast Iron Black Style: Mixer
My old 325watt 5 quart Kitchenaid has been struggling with kneading bread dough. I've rebuilt it once but it still sometimes would stop and hum. It's still fine for everything else, though loud. We have had it, for, I believe, over 25 years. For Thanksgiving, I made fresh bread (delicious) but had to do all the kneading by hand--this is why old-time bakers all had big muscular arms--it's a workout! The old machine will go to one of our offspring because it still does everything else better than a hand mixer, and probably any other mixer. This machine is 500 watts, and 7 quarts, and comes with the regular beater, squeegee beater for things like cake mixes, a wire whisk, improved pouring shield, and a pig-tail dough hook, a huge improvement on the old flat hook. First time making bread (NEVER go over the #2 speed!) it powered through the dough quietly and only after many, many minutes got a little warm, where the old one couldn't be run for more than 2 minutes at a time (when kneading dough) with a minute or two to cool each time. I didn't even have to do a final hand knead! Despite being bigger and stronger it actually doesn't take up much more real estate than the old one and feels a bit lighter surprisingly, although still very heavy. Lots of little improvements: A nice knob on the lifting jack handle, a better-looking brushed nickel knob on the speed control over the old black plastic one, and 11 speeds rather than ten. The pouring shield is now one piece rather than two and enclosed on top rather than open, and works very well. They even upgraded the power-takeoff locking screw and cover. Finally, they added a cord wrap when not using it. So far, the only drawback is the handsome textured matte black finish: flour gets stuck on it much more easily than on the smooth finish. I do not know if the other colors are the same or smooth, but this was the right color for our kitchen. ... show more

  • I love my new mixer!
Color: Contour Silver Style: Mixer
The media could not be loaded. I researched many mixers before purchasing this one. About a year ago, we purchased a bread maker. But, it only made one loaf at a time. Because we make a lot of bread, I wanted to find something that would allow me to make more than one loaf at a time. I am so happy with this mixer. It has a dough hook that helps make bread dough in a jiffy. I can make 4 loaves of bread at once instead of the one loaf in the bread maker. It also has other attachments that come with it. One that I like is the beater that works great for stiff cookie dough. Also, what makes it unique is that the bowl lowers instead of having to raise the top like other mixers. It is made with quality parts and no plastic! In the future, I plan to purchase some of the attachments that grind meat, make juice and so much more. ... show more

  • Beautiful
Color: Matte Dried Rose Style: Mixer
I have always loved my kitchenaid mixer so I decided to add this larger one to my collection. She is beautiful and I named her Betty White...lol. I love she is the first pink item in my kitchen. It is a great machine.

  • Worth every penny
Color: Cast Iron Black Style: Mixer
This is a great machine. I got the black cast iron color, which is really a black matte, in case you're wondering. I've yet to encounter a mixing task it can't handle. The new 1/2 speed is great and works well for folding. Couldn't be happier with my purchase.

  • Best KitchenAid product!
Color: White Style: Mixer
I make bread twice a week for our family. This mixer is powerful and easily kneads a 1000 gram dough. Great bread structure is easily achieved with this amazing mixer doing the work of kneading! Best appliance in the kitchen!

  • I hope we got a lemon!
Color: Mineral Water Blue Style: Mixer
We had a small 3.5qt, tilt top KitchenAid mixer that we've used for 10 years to make bread and other simple things. Since the tilt top head of the old one would bounce with the bread and we wanted to double the batch, we upgraded to this beast. First run did ok. Power was disappointing but it worked. 2nd batch the unit stopped working half way through kneeding and the third it just failed to run at all! We are a few days past our 30-day return window so now I need to talk to KitchenAid to get this resolved. We have family that use the 5qt version of this mixer and their mixer has zero issues with the same dough (they even run it at a faster speed then what's recommended for a dough hook!). This is extremely disappointing as this was not a small purchase and we expected much more from a new KitchenAid mixer. Time too see if their support will make things right for us. ... show more
