The moment you open the box you will realize you made the right choice. These shears are heavy-duty and well-made. There are three different types of blades including a slim blade, a bone cutting blade and a serrated blade. I am not 100 sure about the serrated blade, I think you have to take the shears apart and turn that piece over, and then put them back together? Literally no idea. Seems like a lot of work to me and as for now, I have been able to do everything that I needed to do with it. You can easily cut through bone with no issues, I am not big on cooking with whole chicken but when I do the thing I hate most is trying to cut through the bone. This is why I don't. These shears made it quick and easy. I was impressed and made to add whole chicken back to our menu. The blades are sharp and cut through meat easily. I have a couple of other pairs of kitchen scissors but they very seldom stay in the kitchen because they are the one pair that is easiest to find. It is nice to now have a pair that is dedicated to the kitchen and won't have to be sanitized before every use. The other kitchen shears do not handle bone as easily as these. It is like trying to get apple juice from an orange. I love the one-handed latch, it is very convenient and easy to use. I have larger hands so it might be easier for me than others but I think everyone would find it convenient. You unlock them by squeezing them a bit and then release the latch, the same for closing you close them all the way and then latch it. There is a little play there but it still stays secure. I tried to get it to unlock by quickly squeezing and releasing but it stayed secure. Initially handling the shears felt a bit odd because there was no loop on the top size however after using it a couple of times it has become second nature. You can not beat this price. I had been looking at a similar pair from a big name brand and they are more than 4 times the cost. This is an easy solution to many of your kitchen cutting issues. These shears are almost perfect, although admitting nothing else comes to mind that would make them better right now. I am rating them 10.

This is a heavy pair of shears, which some may not like, but to me, it feels sturdy. Upon first use, I found it to be incredibly well-crafted and of great quality for the price. I often cook whole chickens in my instant pot, and the kitchen scissors that came with the standard knife block weren't sufficient. Pun intended. However, this pair made the process of quartering my chicken painless. Since I'm only cutting a single chicken at a time, I didn't notice any strain on my hands. I'm not sure if these are the best shears for commercial use or for someone who does a lot of meal prepping. I'll continue using them and find out. The weight concerned me because of my carpal tunnel, but I haven't had any issues. However, someone who is a bit older, dislikes weighted items, and struggles with grasping might want to skip this product. It does take some time to get used to these shears if you're accustomed to regular kitchen scissors, but the transition wasn't too painful.

Out of the box, feeling the mass and quality of this pair of shears...I was ready to hand out 5 stars. The stainless was perfect, the blades were sharp and I liked the spring back and lock. I even thought the straight line thumb blade was neat as it didn't discriminate between left and right hands. Cutting up a chicken however revealed the wisdom of the traditional thumb hole as my finger slid down the shaft every time and lost my leverage. Works fine with clean dry hands and is top quality. But if you're using it for kitchen duty...it will be problematic.
