  • This solved the problem. UPDATED.
Except for the color, it works exactly like the original. If that old U-shaped gasket is black, replace it with this blue one or you're going to get a leaking tank because the old black one is too dried up to do its job and you just disturbed it from its original position and compression. UPDATE: About a year after installing this kit, I found a small leak descending from one of the tank bolts. I tightened the wingnut, but, the leak continued and stained the floor with brown minerals. I disassembled the tank from the toilet once again and discovered that the kit's steel washers that were placed inside the tank had both been eaten away leaving behind their chrome husk. I found some thick nylon washers that hug the shafts of the brass bolts from the kit and reassembled the tank to the bowl. The leak is now fixed. I believe the chrome coating on the washers was defective and allowed conductive minerals in the water to conduct electrically between the steel inside and the brass bolts. The heads of both bolts were covered in flakes of iron and other metals. Taking away one star. I still recommend the product. ... show more

  • Gasket was hard and old
Gasket was hard and old. It cracked in several places as soon as the tank was set on the bowl and leaked. Hardware was okay. Horseshoe shaped spacer was okay. I had to take the tank apart again and buy a different gasket for it.

  • Worked great but .... you must pre-fit the hex donut onto the tank first then set onto the base.
OK, this kit worked great on a 40yo American Standard toilet but, the you need to stretch, position and "pre-fit" the hexagon rubber donut onto the original plastic/PVC hexagon flange on the tank FIRST and then slide/fit blue the U-Gasket onto the tank bolts and slightly stretch it around the back of the rubber donut. Then you can pick up the tank and lower down onto the toiler base with the two tank bolts aligned with the holes in the toilet base. I did not use the cheap bolts provided and instead opted to buy new rust and corrosion proof bolts. ... show more

  • Works great
We have 5 of these AS toilets in our house. This is an essential kit. I always keep one on hand. Not sure why the price nearly doubled on this order.

  • Worked with vintage 1998 American Standard Cadet Toilet. No issues
Getting the right gasket was impossible to find. The big box retailers had generic gaskets that didn't work. Save yourself some trouble and get this to begin with. You may or may not need to use the "u" gasket depending on tank design.

  • Saved me from buying a new toilet
My toilet was installed in 1964. These parts stopped the small leak that developed from the tank.

  • It RUSTS!! DO NOT BUY!!!
How can they make screws for a toilet out of a material that RUSTS?! Now because of the slow drip from the corroded screw/nut, the flooring beneath is RUINED!! DO NOT BUY!! This was installed Dec 2019.
