I've always wanted to add an insect house to my garden, and I'm glad I chose this one. It's very well made and sturdy, and I imagine this will still look amazing in my garden in ten years. I love the beautiful green color. This is easy to disassemble for an cleaning. It would make an excellent gift for any gardener or outdoorsy person, and would be a wonderful activity for children to set this out somewhere and inspect it for occupants. This is such a well made nesting house for solitary bees. It’s very heavy due to the thick recycled plastic and I foresee this lasting a long time and being very easy to upkeep. I love that it will stay waterproof. For years I’ve used wood nesting houses and it was a yearly battle to fix them up to work another year. I live in Central Texas and the elements of heat and rain causes a lot of damage to the all wooden ones. I plant lots of pollinator plants and I love having our native Mason and leaf cutter bees in the gardens. Tonight I ordered the cardboard tube inserts from Amazon and we’ll install this bee house this weekend. The house weighs about 4lbs, so it has to be installed onto a secure post or object, about 4’ from the ground and if you’re in Texas, out of direct daytime sun, but morning sun is good. Each of the block shelves are removable for cleaning or replacing. ... show more

The box is very nice, sturdy, and well-constructed. The plastic should weather well. The grooved wood inserts should be okay for bee cocoons, maybe just a little more sanding in the grooves. The mounting hardware is plenty strong and will work fine. My only criticisms are that the space between the roof and the box is likely to become a bird nest or wasp nest. Maybe I can fill that space with tubes. Also, the wood inserts aren't secured in any way. there's a flip-up stay for the bottom piece, but, in a heavy wind I worry the layers may work their way out of the box a bit. This is a really well built bee house. I don't know much about bees and was unaware there were species that would even occupy such a structure but my wife wanted this for her garden area so I said, "Yes, Dear" and got it for her. When I took it out of the box I was very surprised at the weight. Nice paint job. She's happy. Hopefully the bees are happy and I don't get stung by whatever bees take up residency in it. So far, I've been very happy with this bee house I have prepped and ready to go for spring! The outer materials are a quality thick plastic material and the removable trays are wood. I love that the trays can slide out for easy cleaning! This even comes with the screw kit to mount this. I have mine set up on a tree trunk and it seems very secure and ready for the bees to move right in! I love the green and brown nature friendly color scheme that blends in with our yard foliage too. Kingsyard makes great stuff out of recycled plastic, and this is no exception. It feels bulletproof, and it's heavy as all get-out. (This is a good thing.) The plastic outside will last forever, and the wooden shelf-hole bits are well made; they slide out for easy cleaning, too. It's got a hook thing on the back for hanging (also solidly made), and you can drill through the plastic if you want to put it up permanently. If you haven't used Kingsyard products, you'll be pleasantly surprised at how well-made this is. If you have other Kingsyard stuff, this is as good as the rest. ... show more
