  • Finally 3200mhz with a JEDEC profile. Works in new ASUS TUF 506IU
Size: 16GB Style: 3200MHz
I have a new Asus TUF 506IU with Ryzen 7 4800H and it came with 16gb of Samsung ram at 3200mhz. Anyhow I need 32gb as I do a lot of photo editing with large files and 16gb runs out fast. So I found Crucial Ballastix 3200mhz and cl16 and their site said it would work. Well it did work but only at 2666mhz...Why? Well I though it was because Crucial needed 1.35v to run at 3200. So next I found G.Skillz that showed 3200 at 1.2v. Nope that would only run at 2400mhz. So I installed the old ram and took a good look at it with CPU-Z. Here is what I found. I know now that Asus TUF laptops doesn't do XMP profiles. So how did they get 3200mhz? The stock Samsung ram had only JEDEC profiles (normally no OC). So now I searched everywhere and ended up on Kingston's website where they showed the JEDEC profiles for 2x16gb 3200mhz ram. So I returned all the others and to my surprise this HyperX ram worked perfect. 3200mhz at 1.2v and cl20 and will run faster if you have a board or laptop that supports XMP profiles. Sorry for the long review. But If I had found a post like what I just typed out, I wouldn't have had to do all that research and order three different ram sticks. Well hopefully this helps out some others. ... show more

  • Almost got ripped off. Make sure to match the serial!
Size: 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) Style: 3200MHz
I purchased the 32GB 3200MHz and shipping was super quick. I get my laptop all disassembled and ready to go for the new RAM, when low and behold, I discover that the memory I received was the 2400MHz model. Further, it is almost impossible to detect until you've already put everything back together. There is no distinction on the actual card other than the warranty sticker with the serial number. It should begin with "HX4##", the pound being the MHz. If you purchased the 32GB, the serial will begin with HX432 and the 24 will read HX424. I issued an exchange and am curious to see if they make the same mistake when I receive the correct product on Saturday. Edit: No problems with the replacement so far, updated the rating to reflect. Will install and test it and come back if needed. ... show more

  • 3200Mhz 2x16gb (32gb) does not work in Alienware 17R4 with K i7 cpu
Size: 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) Style: 3200MHz
Kingston Technology HyperX Impact 32GB 3200MHz DDR4 CL20 SODIMM - didn't work in my top of the range Alienware 17R4, even with the HK cpu. All recognised in BIOS but had no end of windows errors and could not get into windows at all. Tried to reinstall windows 10, but could not get past all the BSOD errors... Such a shame. I guess the Alienware does not support 3200MHz ram. Supports 2666MHz though as thats what mine came with... ... show more

  • 2017 iMac user be careful.
Size: 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) Style: 2400MHz
For people who are going to buy these RAMs to upgrade 2017 5k iMac, don't mix Kingston RAMs with Apple original RAMs, Apple original RAMs are cl17, but Kingston RAMs are cl14. It will make all memory speed down to 2133MHz. Original RAMs are 2 x 4GB, Kingston RAMs are 2 x 16GB, not sure about other cases. Also original RAMs were in dimm0 slots, I added Kingston RAMs in dimm 1 slots, iMac couldn't boot. Then swapped original RAMs to dimm1 slots, Kingston RAMs to dimm0 slots, iMac could boot successfully. Hope this review helps. ... show more

  • Undiscovered *WIN*
Size: 8GB Style: 2400MHz
I bought my PC over a year ago, it came with 16 gigs of RAM. That should be enough, right. I've used the memory scans from some manufacturers websites and the results say 16 gigs is the limit. Though I could move up to 2666Mhz. Just for kicks and giggles I used the computer manufacturers site to do a complete system scan to check for any potential issues. The results said that my motherboard was good up to 32-gigs. Many tests said 16 max, HP said 32 max, so I took a gamble and decided to order a 16 strip for a total of 24-gigs. Normally I'm a Corsair reliant, this time, I went with HyperX. The moment of truth came when I went to the Amazon Locker, got my package and went home. The worst thing that can happen is I go through the trouble of removing the bottom cover of my laptop, install, reassemble and it doesn't work. Good thing Amazon has a good return policy. After easily, and painstakingly removing the bottom, then replacing one of the 8-gig strips with the new 16-gig, I snapped the bottom on just to do a startup and hope for the best. The first thirty seconds or so, I didn't see anything but the power light come on. Then the screen lit up and the normal cold boot proceeded. I let everything boot up, drivers load, and went into my system profile. What do you know, the HP scan was right. It saw 24-gigs, and 24 of that was usable. But it doesn't stop there. Since the upgraded RAM was a success, I can't have Hyper-X on one side working alongside the Value Ram that came with the machine. Onto Amazon I go and immediately ordered the same thing in an 8-gig. I know it's more proper to have two of the same size working together. But 24 is sufficient enough for me to notice a lot more *pep* in my performance. One day, I'll get another 16-gig to even it out. Maybe even go for the 2666. But for now, I'm happy with the improvements it's done on my once-thought non-upgradeable PC. I would deduct one star, not because of the memory itself, but for the ease of installation. Memory is a snap to install these days. But cracking open an HP by removing the bottom is a delicate task if you don't have the right tools (which I do) and don't want to leave any markings on the outside of the machine. It's not Kingston's fault I have a "pressed together" machine, so I'll leave it at 5. The short: I took a gamble, and hit a small jackpot with the results. Bonus: It comes with a nice quality sticker. I'm a dude, and dude's WILL apply a free sticker somewhere. Whether it be on the lid of their laptop, or under the lid to our toolboxes. Mine looked good on the lid to my machine with the black-on-red mods I've done to it's aesthetics. ... show more
