  • Blends like butter, even on rough paper!
The media could not be loaded. I am in LOVE with these gel sticks! 💕 The consistency is like a water soluble oil pastel but even creamier and more transparent. A few of them have a gorgeous shimmer effect! I am totally obsessed with these! They make my mix media projects so fun. You can layer these OVER watercolor or each other. They are very versatile in that you can layer colors easily and then blend with water if desired- this makes it possible to achieve a variety of effects. These are my favorite sketch material- I can get a lot of opaque or semi transparent color down on the page quickly. I then use a brush and a bit of water to blend together and then after it dries add final details. I love how well even light colors layer. The more water you add with the brush- the more transparent the wash will be and blended. It’s very easy to blend- just a light touch is needed. The metallic colors are super opaque and glittery. These are an incredible value for the money!!! The gel fills up the barrel almost completely to the bottom, not like other art sticks that only have an inch or two of the actual medium. I want kingart to come out with even more colors! Especially a LANDSCAPE palette. ... show more

  • Great art crayons!
These crayons are amazing. Soft as butter and easily smooths out into brilliant colors. I love the effect. Can also be used with paintbrush and water for a completely different look. If you paint or draw, try them! You won’t be disappointed.

  • Crazy soft
Amateur artist here who uses primarily waxes and oils . Never used these before though . Boy are this things crazy . They are sooooo smooth and soft . Only thing I can compare them too is lipstick , cause they are even softer than oil pastels. Color lays down extremely evenly with almost no effort. Super vibrant and saturated .They can be blended with fingers , stubs , and alcohol/thinner , but like with all oil products doing so strips the sheen . Their blunt and soft so sharpening or detailed work is a no go . Also differing your pressure with these will NOT result in a lighter shade , the color goes full force even on a light layer . Very strange but cool product , definitely worth playing around with . Also though it seems like they are probably aimed at kids , their softness can make a mess if your not careful with em , again think lipstick consistency ... show more

  • Kingart gel sticks vs. Marabu art crayons
I bought the 48 pack and loved the creaminess and the fun things you can do with working in mixed media great to work with. Then I noticed the Marabu look just like the Kingart So, I tested a few Marabu crayons to the Kingart crayons they are EXACTLY the same (gel sticks/crayon sticks seem to be same). Even the tube that they come in are the same. I tested rust, metallic gold and the ultramarine blue color the blue was only slightly different hue, but the creaminess to both is the same. The wash was the same I tested doing stencils, and water color all the same. I found there are several companies that make the same type of crayon maybe more glitter (might be fun). The Kingart comes out to .73 cents each 48 pack). The Marabu come out to 2.31 for a set of 26 not including the 10 metallics I found 25.00 – 35.00 separate set (same colors) Kingart has 12 metallics and if you get the 48 set you get all of them for 34.99 while the Marabu is 59.99 for 26 and if you add the Metallics for another 25.99 (if you can find that set) that’s 75 for only 36 colors. The Marabu blender works with the other types of crayon/gel sticks (I found at Michael’s). You can purchase the Marabu individually so buy a few try for yourself. I think Kingart is a way better deal. You get way more for your money and a few extra white and black. Maybe I'm wrong and there is a formula difference, but when the colors and texture seem work-ability is the same it makes you wonder. ... show more

  • Love These
I ordered these to use as a base in coloring books for adults. First, I use the gel sticks, blend, then top with colored pencil. They go on smooth and are very easy to blend. The colors are pretty and the bargain price and amount of gel sticks is awesome.
