This set is so cute! My son had been asking for his own kinetic sand so we finally caved despite dreading the mess. The mess actually hasn’t been bad at all!! I set up a tray with the sand and some shells and the pieces this set comes with and he played with it all for HOURS the first day!! He kept going back to the tray throughout the day! He was so entertained and excited about it. It’s even fun and relaxing for me to sit and play some with the sand with him. He really loves it! He has since requested sand everyday since we got it and he hasn’t been bored yet. It’s not messy and I love that it doesn’t really stick to your hands. It’s a really fun texture! Okay, so I'm an adult and my grandchildren introduced me to Kinetic sand. It is the best ever! This product feels like beach sand, which is kinda cool and the molds are fun for the kids to play with. However, I sit at the table and kneed the sand the entire time they are playing with it. if I'm having a really bad day, I can REALLY KNEED it, I can name it BOB! I love to feel it slip through my fingers and it costs me less than a therapy session!!! The greatest part is, I get to spend time with my grandkids and they don't know if I'm having a good or bad day! Everyone should KNEED it!! ;) ... show more

Same amount & same brand of sand was under $10 at Walmart. The cardboard box and little plastic forms and shovels etc. ,do add to the presentation and let the kids get into it immediately. Still in the original box. Pretty heavy duty cardboard . If I had it to do over again I would buy the $10 bag and a decent quality small tote with a lid, put the bag in the tote with a few seashells , bottle caps or whatever would make a cool shape. That’s just me though. It isn’t oily & doesn’t cause stains( speaking of which, there’s a special place in hell for whoever came up with slime. Just kidding the kids love it. I don’t know about other parents but I’ve always since day one planned on replacing your carpet and anything upolstured As soon as The bulk of vomiting, coloring with markers and crayons, etc. etc. is over. kids will be kids. )or any problems like some I’ve seen and it is easy to clean up Of course a little bit gets spilled each time it gets played with. The Easter bunny brought 2 sets of these for my 4 and 6 year olds. And I got them on sale! Less than $12 a piece. I would easily pay full price for these. Pros The box turns into the play space. Less mess!! There is plenty of sand to make great castles. The castles are sturdy and great quality. Easy to clean up!! Keeps my little ones busy for a while. Did I mention it's easy to clean this up?? Have you ever had playdoh smushed into your carpets and bits everywhere? Have you ever had slime on a brand new couch? (vinegar solves the problem btw) Because I have. I practically cry when they want to play playdoh because it gets everywhere. But kinetic sand is so different and easy to clean.
