This is not a full review due to lack of time, but rather highlights some of the notebook features of the device. For summary see the title. For the long version, well here we go: I'm in academia and taking lots of notes as part of my daily routine. And for that purpose I use regular letter/A4 size notebooks. After I saw Scribe, I wanted to switch to a digital notebook, which naturally provides endless paper. However, after 1 week of usage I can say that the product features (both hardware and software-wise) are limited. One issue is you can't set the paper size. It's already set by the writing area and you can't extend it. That means you're running out space pretty quickly and should continue on the new page, which would be okay if you could have easily browsed your pages. However, it's not. Let's say you are on page 14, and want to go back and see what you've written on page 3 few days ago. Then, you have to slide (using your fingers - not tapping, which works when reading) through all the pages between 14 and 3, and then you should do the same activity for going back to page 14 again. Assume doing this when you are at page 140 and want to go back between your notes and check something at page 20. Browsing across your notes is soo annoying, inconvenient, and slow (hardware issue I think, sometimes the response time for going back and forth between two consequent pages can be more than 3 seconds). Will update other issues, if I continue using it.

I have had a 2nd gen Kindle for years that I loved. This new Scribe blows it out of the water. The ability to scribble a note so easily is positively amazing - so much better than writing in a tiny little margin. The set up was easy. Of course the ability to enlarge to whatever size is easy on these old eyes is very welcomed. The ability to drill down on ideas, names, words, elevates reading comprehension in a big way. I loved it so much I bought a second one for my husband who has quickly become a huge fan of his Scribe, too. (This from someone who thought it wouldn’t feel the same as reading an actual book). He is absolutely loving his quick and easy ability to dig deeper into a particular topic through the easy link to Wikipedia - just a simple tap of a finger on a word or phrase. We are both enjoying this snowy winter in our cozy chairs in our sunny reading room with our AMAZING Kindle Scribes. P.S. Get two - you are not going to want to share! 😁

It is high quality and long lasting battery. Nice screen with high resolution. Only defects is it is a bit heavy if you want to read by holding it.

Being able to jot notes on documents or even write up new stories with the stylus makes reading and writing easy. And it’s simple to email documents from my phone and laptop. As a writer, I’m really liking this latest edition to the Kindle family.

The Kindle Scribe has the potential to be amazing! With the leading display hardware, backlight, and Kindle library, it brings together key pillars for a great experience. In a world where distractions are frequent, as an executive I'm looking for a distraction-free, purpose-built note taking product. When considering competitive products, there are glaring functionality gaps. The absence of handwriting to text conversion, search and a seamless method for getting notes back to my computer for review are major issues. I also find the methods for navigation of the UI non-intuitive. Disappointing purchase.
