My wife and I purchased this for our 3 y/o daughter for Christmas. There are certainly a lot of parts to assemble, but the instructions are clear and easy to read. Be sure to set aside at least a couple hours if you intend to assemble this yourself. While the parts are all packed tightly together in the box, everything survived shipment without any signs of damage. The materials used to make this kitchen are solid and durable with a good paint job. When assembled, the kitchen is the perfect size for our daughter, allowing her to reach everything without any issue. This play kitchen has plenty of pretend appliances to keep our daughter interested in it. She likes to bake cookies and cupcakes in her oven, heat up play food in the microwave, cook on the stove, organize her various food items in the fridge/freezer and clean dishes in her sink. Sometimes I even find her grabbing clothes out of our hamper so she can pretend to wash them in the washing machine. Hopefully she will still be interested in doing the laundry when she is old enough to use the real washing machine! If you are a bit of a tinkerer it is also fun to apply your own tweaks and modifications to the play kitchen. We added some motion-activated LED lights to the microwave and oven so that it lights up when she opens the doors. We also applied some peel and stick wall tiles to the backsplash to help make her play kitchen match our kitchen better. Our daughter loves this play kitchen and we love to see how much she enjoys playing with it.

This kitchen is really great quality. I was actually surprised by how sturdy it is. Stability is A+. The instructions could be a bit clearer in some spots but overall, not bad. It definitely is a project though to set aside 4-5 hours for. I like the extra thought like the screws matching the color of the material they’re going into so it blends nicely. (There’s multiple screws I think item J that are pink white and tan, it doesn’t say in the instructions when to use which, but if you match them to the color material you’re going into you’ll have no issues. Same with the bolts, there was white and tan, but I can’t remember the item letter.) I didn’t use the Allen wrench that came with it, if you have a screwdriver with that style tip you’ll have a much easier time since the Allen wrench wouldn’t be able to fit and turn well in a couple places. I did make sure before fully tightening the clasps that the doors use to close that they lined up correctly, I had to make a couple tiny adjustments once I had the door on to that area but within the drilled holes still, no modifications necessary. That’s more of a tip - not an issue on the manufacturer at all. The accessories are adorable and I love the different pieces’ functionality. Great kitchen toy that seems like it will hold up for a long time!

Okay...I’m glad I’m writing this AFTER seeing my kid play with it because I would’ve been one of those angry reviewers who had nothing good to say if I wrote this after 6 hours of assembly. I was interrupted by my toddler really often, am a sleep deprived mom, and couldn’t spread everything out on the floor because my toddler thought I wanted her to hide stuff (I realized this AFTER playing hide and seek with multiple doors. Not fun for me, but my toddler had a blast). The instructions aren’t bad, but there are soooo many steps. Like really, they couldn’t attach the handles/knobs themselves? EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE PUT TOGETHER. It’s not hard but it is super time consuming. Oh, and make sure you’re not putting the shelves on backwards or you’ll have to redo it. My thumbs hate me. Some of the pictures do not show you how things should align so you might have to go back and turn stuff. Just look ahead and align the holes correctly to save yourself some frustration. One last tip, put on the stupid but awfully cute curtain rod BEEEEFORE attaching the pink board in front of it unless you have the ability to shrink your hands. They made this one of the last steps and after hours of fighting this kitchen, having to battle it to get it on there was not a fun way to end my night. Oh, and I still can’t get the faucet into the wooden board so my toddler has to play without it until dad can do it. The holes are too small and dad strength is required to get the screws in there. Screw it. Have fun, good luck.

I purchased this kitchen for my 18 month old daughter and she loves it. It is tall enough that she will gets years of play out if it (she is off the growth charts in height). Assembly was straight forward and instruction are clear and accurate. Plan on taking your time and spending at least two hours assembling it. I used my own tools to speed the process but there is a lot to put together and there is no rushing through it. Once assembled the kitchen is very sturdy and looks great. There were a few issues. The ladle was broken at one of the welds and the oven shelf had a crack in it. Included in the kitchen was letter from the vice president of Kid Kraft letting you know if you have any issues they want to take care it. Included on the letter is all the information about your model so they can help you. So I went to the Kid Kraft website and found the replacement parts order form. The process was incredibly easy and within 5 min I had ordered replacement parts. I never judge a product by whether everything is perfect because stuff happens period. But I do judge a product by how the company handles those issues. It is clear that Kid Kraft is committed to service after the sale. The amount of work put into the online ordering of replacement parts alone shows their commitment. I would highly recommend this kitchen. I prefer the wood construction over plastic kitchens. My daughter uses all the different parts of the kitchen: oven, frig, washing machine, etc. There is plenty if counter space which is very nice. Overall very happy.

Putting It Together: I had read other reviewers before purchasing this kitchen and did not believe reviewers claiming a long assembly time. My husband and I do this sort of thing on a regular basis and I assumed together we could knock it out on 2 hours. I was wrong! It took over 5 hours before it was complete, with 2 adults working on it (and with a toddler climbing over the pieces during assembly). Here are tips to make your assembly go smoother then ours did (The instructions are not detailed enough to make it easy or fast): 1. The ends of screws/bolts are color coded: yellow for wood pieces, pink for microwave door and to attach pegs to pink valance, silver for oven door, curtain rod, and metal pieces, and white for the majority of it (which is white). This is fairly logical, but since the instructions do not state this, you find it out half way through and waste time correcting the mistakes. 2. The screws/bolts are neatly identified by number (example: J) in separated compartments, however there are multiple compartments for each number (example: J)) containing the exact number of screws/bolts needed for each job (example: attaching oven door handle). Again, the instructions do not make this clear, so it is easy to think you ran out of screws/bolts or worry you don't have enough if you don't know that you have to look for them in multiple places/sections. 3. The instructions have you start off attaching hardware (handles, knobs, etc) to separate pieces in a haphazard fashion, which waste time because you have to find and handle each piece more then once. It is completely not logical the way it is laid out. If you are good with visualizing the final work from the various pieces then, skip ahead in the instructions to where the pieces are formed together into the final structure and attach the stove pieces/sink/valences before attaching the counter, attach oven shelf grooves to interior of oven and attach the knob/handle to the oven door before attaching it to the rest of the structure and do the same with refrigerator/freezer/ washing machine doors so you don't have to handle them multiple times. 4. Keep plastic snack bags/masking tape/pen available to label and use them to separate extra screws you don't use (you will need them later on and they easily become lost) if you are assembling this while your child is awake. The best option is to do it while the kids are in bed, but do it on a weekend because you will be up late and fairly comatose the next day. Playing With The Toy: The kitchen seems sturdy, is made of medium density fiberboard/particleboard (MDF) with real wood poles (soft not hardwood) and wood veneer counter-top, plastic clicking knobs and accessories, fabric curtain and oven mitt, 2 small metal pot/pan, 1 thin metal spatula, and 1 metal ladle. The metal cooking utensils are a little flimsy and will probably need to be replaced by others if your child is hard on their toys. I purchased this kitchen because it was the cheapest one I could find with a refrigerator and enough counter space to place the 'Melissa and Doug Wash and Dry Dish Set' next to the sink. It does fit the dish-washing set, however the counter top is much smaller then I expected. This kitchen is a fine size for one child, but I do not think it is large enough for two to play comfortably. The space is very cramped. For example: The oven and microwave doors hit each other while being opened which will potentially shorten the life of the doors (damage), but your child may like the banging noise the collision produces :) My daughter loves playing with this kitchen while I make dinner and I am glad I bought it, however there are a few things a perspective buyer should be aware of: Even though the kitchen is a corner kitchen, the back of both sides are not very pretty if you don't want to use it in a corner. The backing for the cabinets is white, but has 2 unsightly circular holes in each piece. I used this kitchen to divide the room and had to cover the backside with art board to give it a smooth look. You could also attach a chalkboard or farmers market stand to the front if you wanted to cover the holes and add play options for your child. The circular door for the washing machine is pretty small and it can be hard for a guy with big hands to empty out all the things their child throws into the opening. The interior of the washing machine is larger then the opening, so it can get really jammed and crowded with toys. A child under 3 years old will need to be constantly observed during play because the kitchen provides many unstable climbing surfaces. My daughter is two years old and almost flipped the entire kitchen on top of herself while climbing when my back was turned. She also can not get the oven shelf back into its grooves and complains every time she takes it out. Save yourself a headache by removing it/hiding the oven shelf until your child is coordinated enough to play with it properly. I prefer unisex colors for all the kids toys, but this was $100 less then the unisex kitchens... so if your child has a sibling on the way (might be a boy!) you can prevent future embarrassing photos for your little man, by using red/blue/yellow contact paper on most of the girly pink parts. You will need basic sewing skills to change the curtain/potholder fabric color. The pink plastic oven knobs/handle can be sandpapered/spray painted or replaced with wooden ones. I would replace the chalk board completely with a good quality slate chalkboard. The pink part is plastic. The chalkboard surface is porous and will not hold up to years of chalk use without becoming disgusting. I did get this on sale for around $150 and think it is a good value for what I paid, however there are better options out their if you are paying more. Honestly, if I lived in a house and had some work space (instead of a small apartment without a yard), I would have built my little girl a real sturdy hardwood kitchen from scratch... the kind of heirloom piece that would last generations. It would be sturdier, safer, last longer, might be cheaper to build, and I think I could even assemble it in half the time! :) It's all just boxes put together with doors on them, so it isn't hard to design your own if you have some creativity and ingenuity. If you do decide to build your own instead of buy: For safety reasons make sure your doors open from the side (not top down oven doors), or your child will use them like a ladder and the door will come off/kid will fall. Just one word for this kitchen.. CUTE! I wanted a KidKraft kitchen b/c of the brand name and the fact it is wood. I love the white and pink.. talk about girly.. this is definitely a girly kitchen just perfect for my 3 year old! We bought it.. and set it up for Christmas morning. Be prepared for a very long assembly! Took my husband 2.5 hours to assemble it (although its possible it could be done in a little over 2 hours if you have some help.. I didnt help my husband much with the assembly b/c I was setting up other things!) - So just be prepared for that.. give yourself some time! The doors are neat - they do not slam shut.. they have latches that take a little bit of pressure to open / close. I like this fact. The freezer / refrigerator has a lot of room too.. perfect for food! There is one shelf that fits in the refrigerator to. And, the oven is pretty roomy. We have the Melissa & Doug cookie set, and that whole cookie pan with all 12 cookies fits in this oven just fine! So, was very happy when I saw how big the oven was! The washer is a decent size too - bigger than some other kitchens I have seen - my daughter had one of her outfits, 2 hand towels, and some play oven mits in there.. and it still had some room! Excellent kitchen - Highly recommend this kitchen!

I would buy this again in a heart beat. It is worth every penny you will spend on it and more! My children (son age 3 and daughter age 5) play with this daily. I have it set up in the corner of the playroom so that they can go to either side of the window and this allows for hours of play. The kitchen has counter space to add additional items such as toasters and play food sets. The fridge has lots of room as does the freezer. It has both a microwave and an oven with two shelves (which fit the Melissa and Doug Slice and Bake Cookies Perfectly - see my other review on those) There is additional storage under the microwave. Here, we keep several play food sets. The kitchen has a 2 burner stock and pegs above to hang pots and pans. It also comes with a cloths washer (or dryer?) which I found a little odd; however, odd as it may be, my kids love it and keep baby doll bibs and dish cloths inside. There is additional storage under the cloths washer/dryer. This is an excellent that has much play value (think puppet show through the window). Now, putting it together. I did it myself and I am not very handy but, can follow directions. The directions are clear and it is simple enough. If you have 2 people available it will make things go smoother. Oh, and don't order it at the last minute and try to put it together on Christmas Eve after you put the kids to bed (not that I did that or anything... hmmm...) as it could lead to much frustration.

My 4 yr old LOVES this item. It was very easy to put together. I did it all by my lonesome. Husband was proud and relieved. There were many pieces to assemble, I expected it to be a lot harder. It took me maybe an hour. Directions are VERY clear and easy to read. It is on the heavy side, but it is manageable. I am able to move it about by myself. The dish sink does come out so it can be washed. (yes, your child will likely put water in it very quickly). There is some water damage to the paint only, the checkered back-splash. I should have more diligent in showing toddler how to dry her kitchen off. We have had this a year and it is still in great condition. No cracks, even after being moved all over the bedroom, the cabinet and fridge doors still in tact and working. Pots and pans have no rust. Aside from the barley noticeable water damage its perfect. Packed well, and delivery was excellent, pays to be a member of Amazon Prime, especially during the holidays,
