I’ve been using the Keychron V6 Max for about 5 days so far at my office, more than 8 hours per day. I bought it because I needed an affordable keyboard with Bluetooth, and it has exceeded my expectations. The biggest benefit is convenience: it supports three connection methods (2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth, and wired), so it’s easy to use with different devices. It also includes two receivers (USB-C and USB-A), and there’s a built-in storage slot on the keyboard for the receiver(s), which helps prevent losing them. Typing feel is excellent. The Banana switches provide a very satisfying tactile feedback, and for me they feel even better than typical brown switches. The typing sound is enjoyable and not distracting in an office setting. The keyboard also looks clean and solid on the desk, has RGB lighting, and offers a high level of customization. Battery life has been strong so far: using Bluetooth with RGB off, I’m getting around a week of use. Cons: The case is mostly plastic, which is not necessarily bad—just personal preference (I like metal frames more). Also, the connection to the manufacturer’s customization software can be inconsistent (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t). Bottom line: Excellent value for the price with great typing feel, a comfortable sound, and very flexible connectivity. Background: This is only my second keyboard since I started gaming. My first was a Razer Black Widow, which lasted over eight years. When it finally needed to retire, I decided to try something new. Keychron came highly recommended by my friends, and I chose the V6 Max because I’m a sucker for a numpad and extra keys—especially useful when gaming. I picked the V6 Max specifically for its full-size layout. I love having the numpad and extra keys for added functionality. The color scheme is basic but clean, giving it a nice minimalist look. I prefer using a wired connection over Bluetooth, so I haven’t tested the wireless feature yet—but I’ll update this review if I do. I went with the Banana switches, and the feel is very different from the Razer Green switches I was used to. They’re lightly tactile and produce a somewhat hollow sound when pressed. I'm not entirely used to the feel or sound yet, but that’s likely just because this is only my second mechanical keyboard. Still, the typing experience is smooth and satisfying. If you like a lighter actuation force, Banana switches are a solid choice. If you want more versatility for both typing and gaming, the Brown switches might be a better option. The keys have a nice texture—smooth but with just enough friction to prevent accidental slips. Even though I’m still adjusting to the feel, my typing remains accurate and fairly fast. I usually type at 120 WPM, and with this keyboard, I average around 105–110 WPM. As for gaming, the keyboard performs well. I’ve had no issues with responsiveness or functionality. I do prefer a more clicky switch for gaming, but that’s just a personal preference—the Banana switches still hold up well. If you like a softer, hollow-sounding switch that’s not too loud or too quiet, I’d recommend giving these a try. The RGB backlighting is fully customizable via the web or through QMK/VIA. It’s a cool aesthetic feature, though the lighting doesn’t shine through the keycaps, so it doesn’t help much with visibility in low light. There are also plenty of other customization options, including keybinding, firmware updates, key testing, snap action, key bouncing, etc. TLDR: Overall I give it a solid 5 stars as it's a good bang for your bucks. You are given a nice minimalist design with fully customizable RGB and key mapping. The Banana Switches offer a smooth tactile feeling to it with a hollow a sound, which makes it satisfying to hear, but not too loud. I have not tested out it's Bluetooth functionality because I prefer wired over it, but I will update my review if I ever use it. ... show more

I highly do not recommend this product. At first, it was a great keyboard; it had a great feel, I like the option for customizability with hot-swap, and overall is a decent keyboard. However, there is a consistent issue, that you will see many others mention, with regards to key chatter, double clicking, or similar. Within the first few weeks of purchasing the keyboard, I already began to have severe issues with many keys repeating mulitple presses one after another. I contacted support, and after a bit, they graciously provided me with a new keyboard. However; this new keyboard, perhaps a month after receiving it, also began to have the exact same issues, and continues to get worse. It doesn't seem to be a case of a few faulty keyboards in the bunch; it is a consistent issue with the manufacturing of the keyboard. I have no idea how this isn't a bigger issue, and much less how it has not yet been resolved. I highly do not recommend buying this keyboard for that reason, until it is clear the problem has been solved, which at this point, I do not have the confidence in Keychron to fix this, given that the second keyboard I received, had the exact same issue as my first. ... show more

I love this keyboard and I haven't even played with all of its features. It feels high quality when typing on it, I like that you can hook it up to multiple systems and switching on the fly is quick and easy. Not really a fan of the color scheme on this one and it would be nice to be given a sampler selection of other switch types to test out. No bloatware is needed either, as all good hardware should be. I'll likely be buying another and pack the rest of my keyboards away. Shame the Q5 version doesn't have the numpad, else I would give that one a whirl. The price of these might scare some away but I certainly do not regret my purchase as of now. ... show more

I really wanted to like this keyboard, but I can't. Physically, nothing is wrong with it, they keys feel good when you type, it is sturdy and the design looks good. But I am having constant issues with key mapping. At first, for no reason, keys would be registering twice, an issue I have only been able to solve recently when they updated their firmware. Then, when this issue got solved, a few weeks after that, some keys would stop registering, for example the CTRL key that I sometimes have to press twice for it to register. They also have a browser based launcher that used to not work on Ubuntu, and has only been recently fixed. The problem is that I find myself starting my work day wondering what is the next issue I am going to have to face with this keyboard, and if I cannot have peace of mind when I use it, then I obviously cannot recommend it. I would suggest you consider purchasing another keyboard if you are on Ubuntu. I know I have started looking for something better. ... show more

After doing tons of research and going back and forth on options, I landed on the V6 as my first mechanical keyboard. I absolutely love the custom key mapping. It makes repeat tasks a breeze when you can create a custom key combo. As a Mac user, I use a lot of custom shortcuts. I’m able to trigger these shortcuts with a single button combo. Overall, the quality, sound, and feel have been great. Coming from the Apple keyboard, the height difference took a little getting used to, but a wrist rest really helped. I think this is a good keyboard overall and easier to move around compared to other aluminum case models. Typing feels great with both tactile and linear switches. I love the Jupiter Banana switches and they work great on this board...pure, crisp thock. The frame and internal gaskets are solid enough to provide a real stable base for keys to react to, so it's relatively free of extra noise from the board and frame (pure, crisp, independent thock). The Keychron Launcher UI is real easy to work with. It's certainly well made and high quality for this price point. It's as "full size" as it gets and feels durable enough to get beat on and used heavily for many years. Overall it would be a 4-star keyboard IMO (Their Q's are a 5). I subtracted another star because the bluetooth connection seems to have issues registering certain keystrokes on occasion, which can be real frustrating with the randomness of occurrence. As I write this review there are no issues, yet this morning n,m, k, and p keys would not register unless I pushed really hard on the key a few times. Yesterday it was the same issue with different keys. it's maybe happened 8-10 times since purchasing about a month ago and maybe 20-25 hours of use. I have a K-10 that is about 2-3 years old and never had this happen on it. The Q-Series (Q3 and Q6) have been issue-free for me as well, and get my vote as the best typing/productivity keyboards out there. ... show more

Overall, this is what I want in a keyboard I use on a daily basis. I work a remote customer service job; to say I type a lot would be an understatement. So far, this keyboard has exceeded my expectations. The ease of use and responsiveness provided by the banana switches is top tier. It feels like I only have to use a medium to low amount of pressure to press the keys and the click feeling is sensational. The sound is in between thocky and clickity, if that makes sense, but more so a click noise. The feeling of typing combined with the sound scratches that itch just right. Stock keycaps are fine, they work well with the switches, wish they were side profile to show off the RGB lights a little more. RGB lights and settings are fine, nothing super crazy. Wish they had a different colorway, but now I'm just nitpicking. Regardless of the cons I listed, at this point I'm deeming this keyboard well worth the money and it will be my main moving forward. The main reason I'm not giving this a five star is due to the fact that I've only been using it for about a week and a half at the time of leaving this review, so I'm not sure of its longevity. 10/10 would recommend. ... show more
