I was skeptical given all the hype over Rough Rider, but it’s awesome. Great (and soft) hold, matte look, great smell too. A VERY little goes a long way. I find that a small coating of one finger is plenty. (Use too much and your hair can feel tacky.) So it takes some trial and error to find the right amount, but once you do, it’s a strong hold that keeps your hair soft. It also works great as a beard balm!

This product holds up well in the rain (I live in a rainy city), and is moldable in case you want to maneuver your hands through it throughout the day. The worst high end hair product I’ve ever purchased. First off it’s matte, which is good, but it also dries your hair out terribly and leaves it gross. If you wear a beanie or hat you can’t take it off because the product flakes apart and looks like dandruff in your hair. Also forget second day styling even if you refresh it with water, it’s so thick and gummy your hair is stuck together and matted the second day and the aforementioned flaking. I can’t imagine how it got high reviews, maybe I got a bad batch-highly doubtful though. It does smell great but your hair looks awful.

I have never had a product that makes my hair look this way. Gel, hairspray and pomade make it look greasy or wet. Other matte waxes and pastes fall out of shape quickly. With some sea salt spray to keep volume and some rough rider for hold it can last for 2-3 days. If it gets messed up, it's super easy to fix by just running my hands through my hair. This stuff smells amazing. Like some vanilla/sandalwood beachy scent. 10/10 Also you don't need much of the product to get the style. I think this container will last a long time.

The Rough Rider hair clay, which includes diatomaceous earth, provides a thicker texture and body for fine hair. It most accurately recreates the ocean beach hair texture more than any hair product I have tried. It has a strong to medium hold and is matte finish. It really is one of the best products I have tried which includes clays, pomades and waxes etc to work for my hair type and give it more texture and body. The scent is subtle but reminds me of Pi cologne. Highly recommend.

What I liked most was the texture it gives to my hair. And as described on the product, it provides medium hold (medium low for me because I have 11 in. Hair). Since I have an oily skin my hair usually becomes quite oily if leave the product in overnight, but with this particular product it's not the case, as it's a clay. I usually pair it with EVO salty dog spray; and bumble&bumble pre-style spray. Although, don't forget to condition your hair, if you use the product too often. It goes without saying that it takes longer to wash off the product (since it's a clay and absorbs mositure). All-in-all, a good product. Will definitely buy again.
