I have owned this particular model (B70 Platinum)for about 7 months now with no major issues. I could go with 4 stars, but I put 5 because I do love my Keurig and the over all concept!! I drink coffee and tea regularly,(and use it to make my oatmeal and cup of noodles too :)) and I have always ran into the problem of wasting more coffee by brewing a pot on my old coffee maker. I would make about 4 to 8 cups with the intention on drinking it, but never happened that way, or it would taste stale after sitting a few hours. Yes, the K-cups can be a bit on the pricey side, but in my case it is far more cheaper to go this route (I drink anywhere between 2-6 cups a day). I haven't tried the filter to add my own coffee yet. So here we go based on my few months of use and other reviews: -Yes the machine makes some noise, but to say it is loud may be a little extreme in my opinion (unless it's about to blow up). It has to heat and pump the water. It may be a tad bit louder than a traditional coffee maker brewing a pot of coffee if thats even considered loud. -K-cups: There may have been about 4 or 5 times where I ended up with coffee grind in my cup and from what I observed, it seems that some companies are packing too much coffee into the K-cup. I had this problem only when I had purchased a 24 ct box of The Original Donut Shop by Coffee People and the Green Mountain variety pack. (not all of the cups did this though, so I would say that some K-cups that make it off the line can be faulty, but thats not very common) -There were 2 times where the coffee was short changed and didn't brew completly. I figured I might have done something wrong, but I really couldn't tell you. Haven't had the problem since. -The temp. is great. It brews hot everytime. I do use a lot of liquid creamer so it does cool it down to the perfect drinking temp. If you prefer it mouth burning hot, you can always heat up your milk or creamer prior to adding it to your coffee. But, I have yet to do that because it comes out fine. -can purchase K-cups from Amazon, grocery store, and some other well known stores as well. Which makes it great when you don't want to pay for the shipping from the Keurig site or you don't want to wait. Plus, there are so many types of coffee,tea, hot chocolate, lattes, etc to choose from. If your not sure, buy a 5 K-cup sample pack from Keurig until you find your favorite. -Brews a fresh cup of coffee/tea/hot water everytime in 3 minutes or less. No more wasting a pot of coffee or stale/burnt coffee from sitting too long. No more filters or messy coffee grind (use to hate measuring, spilling, and cleaning with my traditional coffee maker which half the time lead me to go buy a cup from somewhere) -this model comes with 4 brewing options. I keep mine set to the standard cup. I have used the brew over ice option, and am not too big of a fan of that because it melts the ice and waters down the K-cup ice tea (which isn't strong or sweet enough, but that has to do with the Celestial Sweet Tea K-cup); I may need to lower the temp. When I make hot tea w/ the K-cups I use the smallest cup (sorry don't know the exact size) because it gives it a better/stronger flavor as I tend to add a lot of milk to it. -Flavor is great. I have sampled many flavors and brands of coffee and tea, and figured out the ones I really liked best. I've learned that for a good flavor coffee, stick with the standard size brewing option because it seems that is how they package the K-cups. This is also the perfect option for you fellow Cup of Noodle eaters:) If I use my 16oz travel mug, I just brew 2 K-cups (thats where the price can get you) because the coffee isn't as strong as I like it, but still drinkable. -Once again, I haven't tried it, but you can purchase a filter to use your own coffee with. I also purchased the water filter to put in the water resevoir because I have pretty hard water. I did use bottled water for the first month, but became lazy shortly there after! All in all, I could have went with a cheaper model with less brewing options because I don't really use the others as much as I use the standard size cup option. But, I just bought this after my friend told me about Keurig, so I just bought the one I thought was fancy!! haha (stupid ol' me)So, if you don't think your going to use all the features, you may consider going for a cheaper model that has one or two brewing options. I do like Keurig because of the design and ease of use. I do love my Keurig and everyone has their own opinion and experiance with it, but I would recommend this to a friend as I plan on purchasing one for my father-in-law and parents for Christmas. If I could do it all over again I would still purchase this because I am truely satisfied with it and I am sure you will be too.

I'm not a coffee snob, but I do take the time for a good cup of morning coffee. Before the Keurig, I was brewing my coffee in a stovetop espresso pot/maker, using fresh ground beans. Other times, I'd use the French press. A few friends had bought a Keurig and I would sort of wonder how anyone would want to spend that much money on a coffee machine for potentially mediocre results. Until... I visited my friend and stayed with her for a few days. She only had a Keurig, and so it was the sole choice at home. The first morning, I brewed a cup, and lo and behold, "This coffee is GOOD!" Not only is the coffee actually good, strong, and full-flavored, it is also so easy, quick, and there's nothing to clean up afterward. I fell in love with that thing and upon returning home, I placed an order for my own machine! I like this model because it has the water reservoir, making it simple to just touch the "Brew" button and have a cup of hot coffee in less than one minute. It also gives you the option for five cup sizes - which varies the strength accordingly as well. You can also adjust the water temperature! At this time, I left mine at the default 192F. You can set the time for your machine to heat the water and be ready to brew when you are ready to have your coffee, and also the off time so that it automatically turns off/stops keeping the water hot and ready for use. If you choose to turn it on while it has been off, it doesn't take longer than a minute for the water to reheat. Impressive! In the mornings before going to work, I really appreciate the ease and quickness of this Keurig! I don't have to spend time measuring water, filling the pot, measuring grounds, waiting 5 minutes for it to brew, etc., and then cleaning the pot. This may all sound petty, but if you have some money to spend on your coffee habit, it sure does make it convenient. :) I just invested in a custom K-cup to use in lieu of the ones that come pre-filled. This way, you can buy your own beans, grind them fresh, and fill the custom K-cup with your own type of coffee. It will also save money, as one package of coffee beans runs between $6-12 and can last well over a month, where as 18 pre-filled K-cups come in a package of 18 or so, and they cost nearly $12-15. Nonetheless, it's nice to have the option to brew any type of coffee you want, pre-filled or your own. Also, for those tea drinkers, there are tea K-cups that you can use as well. I just bought Earl Gray tea K-cups! This has become my favorite kitchen "gadget". :) Very fast shipping.

I was almost put off by the price of this unit, but I took the plunge and bought it and I'm glad I did. It makes perfect coffe every time, and has the flexibility to produce exactly the cup of coffee you want at any given time. Those who say the coffee is too weak don't understand how to use the machine [see my recommendations below] and those who say it's too noisy haven't placed it properly. The pump does make a bit of sound but if you isolate the unit from hard surfaces, with underpadding for example, the noise is tamed considerably. About the strength of the coffee: It helps to understand that the K-cups themselves are portioned for a standard 6-oz coffee cup. Most people do not actually use 6-oz cups and have never made a standard measure cup of coffee. I hadn't either until I got this machine. Now I understand. If you use a 12-oz cup, you need 2 K-cups and two shots of water at 6 ounces each. Not cheap, but sure is good. You can adjust strength for taste by adjusting the amount of water. One of my sisters likes it a little weaker than standard, so she uses a single 10-oz shot of water. Comes out perfect for her. My son likes it strong, so he uses bold K-cups, one with a 6-oz shot and one with an 8-oz shot of water to make his morning coffee. I like mine kind of medium, so I use two regular K-cups (not bold), one full-caf with 6 oz and one decaf with 6 oz and I'm all set. Great coffee. You can make it any way you want from standard coffee cup to travel mug. Don't try to make a full travel mug with one K-cup unless you like it weak. One friend of mine likes it that way, though, so there really is a recipe for everyone. Let's face it, K-cups are not cheap coffee for home brew, though it is more than competitive with barista-served boutique coffee and every bit as good. But for those who can't get past the price of the K-cups, there's is a very clever little contraption, easy to use, that lets you use whatever coffee in whatever portion you like! What could be more flexible? Even with the little contraption, making coffee with this machine is much easier and tidier than using any kind of coffee pot, and the results are fantastic. I agree with the spring water recommendation unless you are lucky to live in a place where the water is additive free with no taste of its own. I buy store brand spring water by the case. It's worth it for the quality of the final product. If you care about good coffee, go the extra distance. If you use the little brew contraption that lets you use your own coffee, then the little extra cost for spring water, which you should be using anyway, isn't really a burden. If you pony up for this appliance, you probably don't care all that much about the price of coffee per cup. Besides, if you buy coffee out, this is less expensive even with two K-cups per serving and spring water. All that doesn't come to $1.39, so there's really nothing to complain about. This is not to say the machine is perfect in every way. Probably no machine is perfect in every way. It could be quieter. The reservoir could be larger. The control panel could have more buttons and adjustments, although I don't see how that really would be an improvement. You can adjust the water temp and the shot size, so what else do you really need? Get it, brew up some fine coffee and enjoy. It's quick and easy and very neat and clean. If you love coffee, you won't be sorry you got this machine. Enough said.

This is our second Keurig brewer. We had the smaller model, the B-50, for 2-1/2 years, having received it as a housewarming gift. I believe the electronics gave out, as brewing became intermittent. I received a gift certificate for Amazon, and decided to replace the brewer, as its convenience in our house was manifest. I travel often, and my wife likes one cup or so in the morning. When not traveling, I work from home, and like one cup every couple of hours in the morning. the single-brew system is great for this situation. Features I like: the speed and quality of the brew - it is actually pretty good coffee, and the choices of coffee have got better and better recently. (Though prices have risen slightly in the past year, it still works out to only about $[...] a cup, if you order enough to get free shipping - about $[...] worth each time. This beats coffee shop prices, and I save on gasoline.) The B-70 has two controls I appreciate - the four sizes - we use the first three the most, and the third (10 oz) is our most common choice. We've not experimented much with the "robust" brew, the smallest, and the largest tends to thin out a bit. I also like the temperature control. Generally it's the hotter choice, but i can imagine using the lower one as it gets hotter this summer, and I don't want my coffee as hot. I also like the fact that the B70 has at least (so far discovered) two ways of turning on and off automatically. It can be set to turn on at a particular time, and then off at another time - not exactly world shaking, but convenient. Also, there's a 'turn-off-after-a-set-amount-of-time option, which can be set to turn off the machine so long after it was turned on. These SEEM to be compatible, i.e. they can be operating at the same time. anyway, there are ample energy savings built in to the device So far so good, on this version of the Keurig - we've had this one about a month. I think it says a lot that we came back to this brand after our previous model had hit the wall. Again, quality of the coffee, convenience, and variety of choice were deciding factors. Didn't hurt that Amazon had a great deal, and i had an Amazon coupon!

I recently purchased the new Keurig B-70 Gourmet Single Cup Home Brewing System that was released on October 1st, 2006 and have been very happy with it. The machine is extremely well designed, simple to operate, aesthetically pleasing, and most importantly, brews an excellent cup of coffee. I am very impressed with how quickly it is able to brew a cup of coffee, the selection of brew sizes, and how simple clean up is. There are a variety of single cup brewers on the market now, many utilizing pre-packaged coffee "pods" for brewing. Personally I was not comfortable purchasing a product where I would be locked into the selection and pricing of a specific manufacturer, or one that would only brew coffee and not tea and cocoa. This is just one area where Keurig really shines above their competition. Keurig has gathered support of a variety of gourmet coffee, tea, and cocoa manufacturers and there currently there are over 140 different types sold pre-packaged in K-Cups including Green Mountain, Diedrich, Gloria Jean's, Timothy's, Van Houtte, Tully's, Coffee People, Newman's Own, Celestial Seasonings, Bigelow, Twinings, and Ghirardelli. Not only is there a large selection to choose from, there are a variety of resellers online offering K-Cups, and pricing is extremely competitive. In addition to the pre-packaged offerings, Keurig offers the My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter allows you to use your own gourmet ground coffee in your Keurig home brewer. This option provided the extra level of comfort I personally needed to make the jump into a single cup brewer. Frankly I don't find myself using it very often as I had originally thought, as there are so many options available in pre-packaged K-cups. The pricing of the Keurig brewers are extremely reasonable, and brews gourmet coffee in just a fraction of the cost of purchasing it from a Starbucks, Coffee People, or similar. I expect that my machine will pay for itself in savings in just a couple months of use. The only suggestion I have for Keurig is that the My K-Cup Reusable Coffee Filter be included with the sale of the brewer, and not an optional accessory. It is such an inexpensive accessory that I am surprised it was not included. Overall the Keurig brewers are excellent value and quality and would recommend them to anyone interested in a single cup brewer.

The Keurig B70 has been in use now in our home about a month, used approx. 5 times a day for 2 people. My wife was skeptical at first, now a believer. Although it has an ample water reserve that we fill with reverse osmosis water, we still fill it alot, but I doubt this can be improved on much for the size unit it is. The easy of use, speed, quiet operation is a big improvement; an even bigger one is the savings in being hassled in thoroughly cleaning a typical coffee drip system: gold filter, coffee pot, etc. I'm enjoying the laziness I can exhibit in using this no muss no fuss pod system. I have used the self filling, reusable filter system several times to enable me to drink my prefereed Dunkin Donuts self ground coffee which I purchase in 5 lb bags and after experimenting with various setting of cup size and filter volume used I can reproduce the cup I can make with a drip brewing system... but it requires a full filter and reduced cup size setting which means I have to do it twice to get my full mug size I prefer. The varieties of pods are numerous and quite flavorful and since I like a full mug of coffee, I am sticking with the most bold, strongest pod varieties which produce a strong full mug of coffee. My only criticism of the whole process is temperature, cost of pods, and environmental impact. I like the hottest cup of coffee I can get; the maximum brewing temperature of this unit is 192 degrees and the coffee produced barely hot enough and only is barely adequate because I use the biggest mug size and thoroughly preheat my mug before brewing. I jsut don't understand why they don't make the brewing temp 202-204 degrees as has been proven to be necessary to optimize a coffee drip process..Alot of the 192 degrees gets cooled off in heating the pod contents to get to brewing temperature with the thin concentrate at the end of brewing being the hottest liquid out. Thus if one used a small cup size one gets a limp, tepid, lukewarm brew result...Stick to high volumes and warm your mug in advance!!! Pods aren't cheap even thru Amazon or Keurig club, which I am a member of...I guess that's capitalism at work... The piles of these plastic pods piling up around this country has to be a developing issue and since they seem to be made of plastic a long term issue and waste; A biodegradable system should be developed if it hasn't already...my goal is to get to 50% self filling mode... If anyone know how to jiggle the brew temp to a higher temp let me know... Overall, I'd recommend...

My wife actually came up with the idea of buying one of these machines. We just had our second child and a quick, easy way to brew up a cup of coffee became a necessity. We had a couple of hundred dollars of credit on Amazon and settled on this model. I am not sure why amazon has suspended sales of this product because we received it very quickly, and it was everything that was advertised. So a few key things to note.... This is not a noisy machine. It is very quiet. It has multiple cup sizes, and I am able to easily fill up my einstein brothers travel mug. I am loving saving the $1.50 a day I used to spend, and in getting better coffee. the coffee selection is great. I also bought the Aloha Island Coffee variety pack with K cup adapter. This adapter is great in that it will allow you to use Tassimo coffee pads with your Kcup machine. I really love Kona coffee so this was a must have for me (and I recommend their coffee as well, head and tails above the others). Another great feature that I was unaware of when I purchased this, but use constantly now is the iced coffee feature. McDonalds charges $3.50 for a iced mocha. I have watched their machine make it at the store and you can make your own for pennies (crushed ice, milk, some chocolate syrup, and then a k pod on the iced coffee setting. Stir and enjoy). I mean, it is a nearly identical drink, and I can make one anytime. Honestly, for me it is the best feature of the machine. So far no problems. The machine has auto on off, cool blue backlight, is so easy to use and quiet. The pods are relatively inexpensive (you can pick 18 packs up at Bed, Bath and Beyond for about $10, or buy 50 packs on amazon for $20 - 25). The most work you have to do with this machine is fill the reservoir up with water. I highly recommend this product for purchase. If you are in the market for a k cup machine and can afford to go higher end, this is the one to buy. 02/16/2012 - Quick update. The Keurig still works well. We use it nearly every day. Occasionally it will stick and won't dispense any coffee. All I do is take the cup out, and run a couple of cycles of hot water through into another glass, and then it works just fine. The build has kept up, still looks good. Nothing broken on it. Overall I could not be more pleased that something we spent a considerable amount for has lasted and still works well. Will f/u in future. 03/07/2013 - Still have it and it is still working well. It does occasionally still do what I mentioned above. However once you learn how to reset it, it is pretty easy and only takes about 5 minutes. I would still recommend this machine.

I've wanted to try this machine for a while but the poor reviews, especially when using the refillable Keurig K-Cup, made me hesitate. My coffee maker Capresso MT600 10-Cup Programmable Coffeemaker with Stainless-Steel Thermal Carafe finally gave out and I thought I'd finally take the chance. One of the reasons I wanted to try a single-cup brewer was because of the coffee I wasted. I'd make 6 cups, drink half and toss the rest. I was going through cans of coffee and knew so much was wasted. Another reason was because I have a family member who can't handle caffeine and often passes on coffee when we're together. By making individual cups we can have our caffeine fix and she can have her decaf. But, I also had a concern that making coffee for a larger group would be time consuming, however, after reading how quickly the water heats up and is ready to brew subsequent cups in a matter of seconds, I didn't worry so much. My other concern was the expense of the retail K-Cups. I wanted to continue to use my ground coffee but like I said earlier, read horrible reviews about the refillable Keurig K-Cup. I then read the positive reviews for the Solofill refillable K-Cup Solofill Cup, Refillable K-Cup For Keurig Brewers ,Two Pack and purchased these with the Keurig. I've had it for a little over a week.... Setup couldn't have been easier. Very clear, concise directions walk you through setting up the machine, running an initial cleansing brew, and then making your first cup of coffee. Since my first cup was only the 7.25 ounce size and I didn't want overly strong coffee, I didn't fill the Solofill all the way to the line and it produced a weak cup of coffee, however, I filled it to the line the next time and it was excellent. As with any new coffee maker, whether single-cup or traditional full pots, you'll need to experiment with the amount of coffee to make it to your liking. Positives: * Short initial heating time * Really short subsequent heating times (a matter of seconds) * Will not let you brew if you don't have enough water in the reservoir (message also appears on display) * Multiple cup sizes * No more lukewarm coffee that's been sitting in the carafe for a couple hours...fresh, piping-hot coffee every time * Virtually no clean-up. Toss the used K-Cup or wash the refillable K-Cup * Removable, washable drip tray Negatives (neither of these is reason to not purchase the Keurig): * Drip tray doesn't click into place and moves too easily. * Water reservoir would be easier to handle if it was molded with some sort of grip. It needs to be set into place at a certain angle and smaller hands may have a little difficulty. If you've been thinking of trying the Keurig, go for it.
