This item was listed as new, but it had clearly been used. The construction is of really poor quality. Bolt holes not lining up, mounting bracket was bent, hinges barely welded on, and the rubber handle grips were worn through to the metal like it had been drug on hard pavement.

Rainy season has finally arrived again, and fall has certainly fallen despite what the calendar says, so it’s time to prep our grounds for winter. I assembled this compost spreader today and it’s much, much better than my other one. The handle on this one attaches with a series of bolts and wing nuts, whereas my other one had a single strange specialty bolt that I ended up replacing with my own hardware. This compost spread works really, really well! We loaded it with 5-gallon buckets of peet moss mixed with seasoned sheep manure as well as milky spore granules (to kill Japanese beetle grubs) and winter grass seeds. Although it’s necessary to re-load often, this spreader does an excellent job of laying down a thin even layer of whatever you load it with. It usually takes us a full week to prep our grounds for winter yet this spreader really helps since we can see where we’ve been, and what areas still need coverage. We are very happy with this compost spreader and expect that it will last for many years! ... show more
