  • Quality package deal

This came with everything needed to flush a tankless heater (I bought the version with a quart of Flow Aide). Bucket is big enough to easily hold a gallon or 2 of water when flushing the water heater without being larger than it need to be. It's also a good size to hold everything for storage between uses. When it's time to flush next year, I'll have it all in one place. Hoses are color coded braided lines that are plenty long. No leaks. The pump is a nice heavy unit that moves a lot of water. My valves were tight so I might drop a cheap crescent wrench in the kit to aid in opening and closing the main valves in the future. All in all - highly recommend. Time will tell how reliable it is over the years, but I have no reason to think it won't hold up. And, as a bonus, I now have a submersible pump for other uses when needed. ... show more

  • VG kit, but instructions need a little help
Style: Stainless Steel Hoses
This may be slightly overpriced for what you get, but you get everything you need and a bucket to store it in. I modified the steps slightly based on reading them and my experience. - Use distilled water for that gallon you mix with the quart solution. Distilled water will have a slight edge in helping to grab the calcium/mineral build up. - Ensure to turn off power AND gas if it's a gas heater. - After the main 45 minute run, dump the water, refill with another 1.5 gal of fresh water. Run again for 5 minutes into the bucket circulating. I was surprised at how much darker this batch was then the main. Repeat again for 3 go round. - If tankless water heater then -> Disconnect the sump pump from the cold hose and slightly turn the top of the cold hose to allow air in and water to go down the hot line into the bucket. This is your chance to clean the intake water filter. - Remove cold water hose and sump, secure cold water side caps and prep to turn the cold side back on. Turn off hot water service valve, and cold water service valve, disconnect the hot water short line and hook up a garden hose to it. Open the hot water service valve and turn on the cold water. Flush the system by running the intake cold water through the system and out the hot water service line. Run for at least two minutes until clear. - At this point you could run up to five minutes out of the garden hose. But even with this you will have an odor in the water line. - Turn off the cold water valve to stop the flush, close service valves and replace caps. - If you have an inlet air filter this would be a good time to open the service door and clean it before you forget. - Now, and this is important, go to the first faucet in the hose where the hot water line is going to feed and remove the aerator. The initial water coming into the unit may contain some specs or minor sediment and you don't want them to foul your aerator which could mean replacing it. - Recheck all valves a final time. - Turn on the cold water inlet. You will hear water entering the unit. - Plug the tankless water heater back into power, if gas powered turn on the gas. - Turn on the tap/faucet inside the house sans aerator and run some hot water. - Reset the control pad clock/etc if/as required. For my experience, I could still smell the chemical in the water maybe up to 10 gallons later. As we had a recirculating pump that came on before I completed the flush, we had some of the water recirculate through the cold lines. To flush those I flushed the toilets in the house and ran some faucets until I could not small the chemicals. In the evening there was still a faint odor in the line so we ran a dishwasher load overnight to help clear that out. I would consider doing this process every 6-9 months if it extended the life the the water heater. Still looking for information on that. This process is seems simple overall, just flush the tank. But because of the number of valves, filters, and steps involved, it is good to read through the directions at least 2x and to think about the process as you go along. You can probably think of other optimizations to it. And if Amazon let people post comments like they used to years ago, we could help each other out more directly. I can recommend this product. The price beats the $150-200 for a plumber to do it and the $250-300 your gas company may charge. Finally, realize that even Rinnai recommends flushing with distilled white vinegar. ... show more

  • Excellent Instructions!
Style: Stainless Steel Hoses
...I needed to descale my tankless water-heater, so bought this complete kit. All the parts look like top quality, and the instructions made it fairly easy to install and operate for a first-timer, although it's important to make sure the pump is actually pumping when running, as it seems trapped air when first turned on can fool ya...so ya gotta double-check it is sucking the cleaning fluid when on. Once i figured that out, it ran perfectly and got the job done well...and it all packs up nicely in the enclosed bucket!... ... show more

  • Easy to use
Style: Stainless Steel Hoses
Used this to flush my Rinnai tankless water heater. Worked great. Only negative I would have is that it included only enough cleaner for one flush. Would be nice if it came with a full gallon of cleaner instead of a quart.

  • Easy to use, better than calling a plumber
Style: Stainless Steel Hoses
It is easy to use, the whole kit is less than what a plumber will charge you to do it. The only challenge I faced was that some of the valves where too tight in the heater.
