  • Works great for $30.
I knew nothing about Arduino programming before I purchased this. I have a project that needs to control two stepper motors. This kit works well for my project. I downloaded the instruction in pdf and followed the instructions. I watched a few youtube to understand how CNC shield works. I have my stepper motors up and running in 2 days. A few improvements on the instruction manual will be perfect. Need instructions on how to use the endstop RAMPs. For $30, it's a good deal. ... show more

  • Works like a charm
This is great. Used this as the core backbone for converting my spare 3D printer into a CNC machine. Using grbl for the gcode files and only needed to do a few tweaks and boom goes the dynamite. Recommend

  • Damaged driver
One of the A4998 stepper motor drivers were damaged/dead out of the box. Was planning on upgrading them either way.

  • Not GRBL V0.9 + compatible and pins/headers were bent
I chose this set because the description claims to be GRBL V0.9+ compatible. It is not. There was a hardware change with GRBL V0.9+ and when I run the current GRBL with this board, the Z limit switch doesn't work. This board should work with V0.8 and below but that is not what I need. This is one of the only listings that claimed V0.9+ support so I bought it even though I'm using different drivers. When it arrived, the pins and headers were all bent. Since I really needed this set thinking it was GRBL 0.9 compatible, I decided to bend the pins/headers back into place and attempted to use it. I was able to run the motors but the Z limit switch didn't work. I've had trouble with other Amazon CNC shields and have since learned about the hardware change with v0.9. I'm very disappointed that the claim was incorrect. I am returning this set since it was damaged and doesn't work as it claimed. If you're looking for GRBL V0.9+ compatibility, look for CNC Shield V3.51. ... show more

  • Not great
Lasted all of about 1 hour total runtime. Bench testing unit, motors quit moving. Tried different motors, different drivers, different power supply. Motors will not move anymore. Period. No idea what I did or didn't do, was working just fine on the bench with grbl 1.1 installed onto Arduino and open builds control and UGS for the interface. Weird. ... show more
