I had ordered a pair of the black and yellow Nautilus 1925's in a 9.5 EE size and they were too narrow. They were cheaper price wise, around $70 but the quality compared to the Keen's is poor. I ordered the Keen 9.5 EE and they fit well but could be a tiny larger but it's not a big deal for me. The Keen's were $50 more than the Nautilus but they have a real insole with arch support and they don't feel like "Earth Shoes" like the Nautilus 1925's do when you first walk in them. For those unfamiliar with the "Earth Shoe" they were a goofy trend shoe in the 1970's and early 1980's that had soles thicker under the ball of the foot than the heel and it felt like you were walking up hill - like the Nautilus 1925's. The build quality of the Keen's is where you see where the extra $50 went versus the Nautilus shoes. The Keen's are double stitched all the was around, heavy duty lacing loops and a sole that looks like you could jump onto a bed of nails and be safe. The characteristic "Keen Toe" is a little odd looking but these aren't Jimmy Choo shoes. I bought them for weight lifting in the gym to protect my toes and for riding my Harley. I found out the hard way that "composite toes" in motorcycle boots don't do much when you slide on asphalt. I ground right through the toes of my composite cycle boots so it's steel toes for me on my cycle. The "Made In America" tag was the finishing touch for me. I'm sick of buying cheap import junk and I decided to do my best to try to buy American products whenever the opportunity presents itself. I'd recommend buying a 1/2 a size larger because a steel toe boot will not "break in" very much. Other reviewers have reported that the uppers are "stiff" which is accurate but these are weigh lifting and cycle boots for me, not running shoes. One week later - 10 hours of wear at the gym lifting and using cardio machines. The fit remains perfect. I didn't think these would be usable for cardio but they work well on both a recumbent bike and an elliptical. I can do wall sits with these shoes in total comfort. My old Converse composite toe shoes were super painful for that exercise. Another reviewer commented that the uppers were too stiff. These Keen's are stiff but for me that was a hidden benefit because I found that I can slip these on without untying the laces. Overall, these Keen's are surprisingly comfortable with a high build quality, made in the USA and are rapidly becoming more than just a safety shoe for the gym.

Just bought the same boots after getting 3 good years out of the old ones. 50 hours on the jobsite every week and they held up great. Still had a few months left on the old ones, but I tore the lining (my fault, too lazy to grab a shoehorn) and it's sort of a pain putting them on now. I spend a lot on boots that iend up not wearing due to fit. At 52, foot pain can be a real issue. I've never had any problems with comfort doing 10 plus hours a day on my feet. Highly recommend.

These boots are fantastic they fit me really well and look and feel great. I wish they had a side zip but that's not a major draw back for me. The stock nylon laces seem a bit low quality and kind of flimsy (though they're not falling apart now, time will tell). I'm very happy with the boots. I'm fairly sure I received a previous customers second hand returned pair which were still in a new condition but out of the box had slight though noticeable scratches, crease marks and light visible wear on the top front of the boots consistent with having been worn for a day or two and someone squatting down whilst wearing them which was mildly disappointing because I bought and paid for a brand new pair of boots. The Boots are excellent.

I bought these shoes because most people at my job have the steel showing or popping out of their shoes. The comfort is good not great, the durability is outstanding. I'm one of the few people who doesn't have steel popping out of my safety shoes. For the best fit I would try them on before you buy because the sizes are different from regular safety shoes. I would recommend these shoes at any job that requires safty shoes except for harsh weather conditions because these keen safety shoes ARE NOT WATERPROOF.

These have held up for a couple months through dust and gravel. I have washed them a couple times and the stitching is coming out of the toe. Better to hand wash these.

Almost Total and complete disappointment. The boots were comfortable enough and very waterproof as expected. The real problem is the absolute garbage "leather" and mediocre workmanship. I hadn't worn them for 3 whole work days before one of the eyelets had torn clean off. I was shocked as I've had nothing but high quality footwear from Keen for well over a decade. I chalked it up to bad luck and stitched the eyelet back together... over the next week or so one by one every eyelet tore off aside from the top 2 speed lace plastic ones on the left boot and I stitched them back together. A month later the right boot began to follow suit. Don't waste your hard earned money on this cr@p.

I've tried numerous brands and styles of safety toe in my adult life. This is my first experience with Keen. I bought these as a replacement for my combat boots that I wore during the later part of my military career. I now work in a machine shop and I am on my feet, on oily concrete, for about 10 hours a day. Some days I'm walking nonstop, some days I'm standing in the same spot the entire time, some days I'm crouched, hunched, or on the trapeze 40 feet in the air on a beam. I needed a shoe that could handle all of that without killing my feet/legs/back. The two biggest reasons for buying these are my back/leg pain from my old ones, and with winter approaching, the slippery heel of the combat boots. Those things might as well be ice skates. I've had these for several weeks now. Out of the box, I could tell they are going to last a while. It had nice thick, sturdy leather, a scuff resistant material covering the toe and lower arch, and a good tread. The insole seemed okay at the time. Upon trying them on, they fit well but didn't feel much different than my old boots in the comfort category. I figured they just needed to be broken in. On the first day at work with them, I noticed several things. I used a hiker's lacing to keep my heel as far back as possible because they were a little snugger around the toe than anticipated.. bad idea. The "padding" at the top of the shoe put a nice sized indent into my achilles that was almost too painful to bear after 10 hours of wear. I also noticed the heaviness and bulk of the shoe, most likely a product of it's sturdy construction. There is so much padding around the ankle that wearing normal slacks can be annoying when they ride up on top of the shoe after kneeling or getting out of the car. Day two was somewhat better. I used a modified hiker's lace to give me a little more room. Unfortunately that made the bunching of the pant leg a little worse. After several days of adjusting, as well as them breaking in a little (very stiff leather at first), they are actually nice to wear. However, even after several weeks, I still suffered from back and foot pain at the end of the day. I turned my attention to the insole. After pulling the removable one out a few days ago, I noticed it was very worn and now hard as a rock. I immediately hopped online and ordered a pair of gels. I got them today so stay tuned on an update on that. After a short test drive this afternoon, the gels seem, by far, way more comfortable than the original inserts. I'll keep you posted. Pros: - Well built and sturdy - Great slip resistance - Excellent foot protection (saved mine a few times already) and scuff resistance - Look cool (I've gotten several positive comments) Cons: - Heavy and bulky - Horrible "foot bed" (insole) - Very long break in time - Price (I payed $147) Bottom line: So far, overall, these are just okay. If you want a shoe that will protect your tootsies and still look nice in a hostile environment, these might be a good option, but if you are looking for out-of-the-box comfort, I say look elsewhere.
