I hike with my dog every morning, usually in the woods. I have a few pair of hiking boots but really needed on that wasn't waterproof. Waterproof is good when yo need it but on me they get really warm, too warm. These new Keens solve that problem and have to added bonus of being very light. I'm a longtime keen user, and thought I knew my keen size. I have three pairs of keen work boots in 11.5 right now, and they all fit like a dream. I thought these would make good hot weather work boots, and in general they are great for light duty work and trail use. Unfortunately they are a little smaller across the forefoot than all the other keens I've had. Not a deal breaker depending on your foot, as they are still roomier in the forefoot than many brands, but I don't like when brand doesn't have consistent fit across models. In any case, they are quite light, and after getting them a little broken in I do like them. For an ankle height boot they are breathable, although they aren't running shoe breathable. The sole is relatively thin, without excessive heel height. I'd really like it if keen came out with boots that are more barefoot fit, with no heel height at all, but oh well. Make me some keen Lem's! Take my money! Anyway, try before you buy, every foot is different, etc... Price is reasonable for the quality, and if they last like all my other keens have I'll be quite satisfied. ... show more

So the short version of this, is that these boots have the weight of tennis shoes, but have the ankle support of a hiking boot. They fit well, and are extremely comfortable (and that's coming from someone with Plantar Fasciitis). The slightly longer version of this review, is that I am quite picky when it comes to shoes and boots. Due to the fact I was diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis a few years ago, it's become more apparent to me, that I need to pay more attention with what I buy and wear. I've always been a fan of Keen boots, but could never quite justify the price of buying a pair, brand new. This year, things have been a bit different, since we've gotten our finances a bit more in order, so when I saw these out here, I decided to finally get myself a pair. I was expecting something to be akin to my Merrell's that I normally wear.. comfortable, but very rugged/heavy... so you can imagine my surprise when the box showed up, and it felt VERY lightweight... in fact, it was SOO lightweight, I assumed they sent the wrong item, or at least the wrong size. When I opened the box, I was shocked to see that, no.. they HAD actually sent my size 12s.. But.. how on earth were they so light? They were on par with some of my lightweight running shoes.. but, they were twice the size.. ?? To be fair, I'm STILL not 100% certain HOW these things are so lightweight, and that actually makes me wonder about how well they'll hold up, for extended time, but for right now... I've been wearing them for pretty much everything.. seeing how well they fit and feel. So far, so good. They're comfortable, and seem to offer the right amount of foot support where needed. They LOOK good (one of my co-workers who's a shoe guy, actually asked if these were knockoffs, since he'd not seen this color pattern on Keen's before), and they seem to be holding up rather well. I've officially got about 40 miles on them (thank you fitness trackers for allowing me to count...) and no complaints so far. They've survived a day at the zoo, a hike on a short trail, and daily work use. They are NOT waterproof, however.. so I wouldn't recommend go splashing in any mudpuddles with them, or crossing streams. Overall, I'd say they strike a nice balance between work, hiking, recreational, and sport.. so if you're looking for a sort of jack of all trades type of boot, at least give these a look, they're quite nice. ... show more
