  • Broke after 3 years
Size: Full
Well, it lasted 3 years as our main bed. Lasted through 2 moves. But we've been trying to conceive the past year and it finally collapsed during basic intimacy! We don't do anything wild haha. The small dowels connecting the frame snapped in half and are now stuck, jammed in the dowel holes. Bummer.

  • probably will need a drill
Size: Queen
The instructions were well illustrated, and I had no problem following them. There are some places, and I think that I can see why, where there are no pre-drilled holes for the second piece of wood. These are in places where it might make the instructions too complicated to follow, but in one case I saw no reason not to have the hole there. So, have a drill ready, unless you really want to try forcing the screws. No warped pieces, and nothing arrived broken. The conversion from sofa to bed is effortless. I do wish that they had an option for pre-stained pieces. I will see how it holds up. ... show more

  • Terrific πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
Size: Full
Just about perfect for me. Arrived on time with UPS. Minimal, functional as a bed if needed, rolls around on two wheels if pivoted (doesn't roll unless you pick up the edge). Comfortable enough as a couch with a cheap futon mattress. Most importantly, made in USA with USA lumber. Honestly shockingly good for the price, it should cost twice as much. ... show more

  • The frame is absolutely great once done, the assembly wasn't as smooth as expected.
Size: Full
Our Futon Frame Assembly Experience Lots of longish screws; I hope you have an automatic screwdriver thingy. We didn't. The metal pegs did not slide in as shown in the video -- we had to pound them in and it took a while, so it might be good if you had a rubber mallet to help with that. We didn't; we were using a slightly domed butt of one of the screwdrivers. Sigh. A number of screw holes were not screw holes, just shallow indentations. When putting together the back and seat, it was very difficult indeed to meet and insert all the wooden pegs into their mate peg holes on both sides because it seemed the holes fell a little short for the task -- it turns out the last two pieces of both side and bottom sections had to be facing the right way when they look like they could up or down. You'll see what I mean. For this reason, it's a two person project at some points, for most people. I'm the Mrs. and it it took my grown daughter and I over 2 hours to put the frame together. That time could've been greatly reduced (!) with predrilled screw holes, all parts labeled (some were, some weren't), cleaner metal peg holes, and better instructions as well as just 2 more illustrative pictures. The video does not show everything. With that video being a little over six minutes, I thought it might take half an hour to put the frame together. Ha! Movie night became bedframe assembly night. But... I've had it for a while now and I love my futon bedframe! And Now, A Few Side Notes On Futon Mattresses, Protective Matress Encasement, And Fitted Sheets Most futon mattresses for sale in the US are made overseas and there are numerous complaints across the array of brands about chemical smells, like some unknown, noxious insecticides were involved. You find these complaints in the dissatisfied comment section from people who lived with their mattresses for a while. I have a feeling that a lot of people make reviews almost immediately instead of after getting them so don't let all the 4.5 star ratings fool you -- always check out the 2 and 1 star ratings too. If you see a pattern regarding certain complaints in those ratings, be concerned. Some people have even opened their foreign-made futon mattresses up, to get to the bottom of things, and found newspaper and cardboard inside, in the middle layers. 25 years ago, I could get a decently made futon mattress pretty much anywhere in the US. Nowadays, it's best to order one from a mom and pop shop in the US, if you're a US customer, after doing your research. This costs several times more plus huge shipping costs but in my opinion it's well worth it if you can do it. I chose the cotton and wool construction for my futon mattress and my full weighs 70 lbs. Quality futon mattresses do pack down to become firmer with time, just so you know. Also, I'm so glad I got the stretchy fitted matress sheets and low-profile mattress encasement. They fit so nicely and the stretchy fitted sheet stays on when changing futon position. Stretchy fitted sheets keep on fitting as the mattress packs down a bit over time. ... show more

  • Surprisingly better than you think
Size: Full
I bought this to replace an old futon. I'm planning to move in a year so I didn't want to spend a lot for something that I might end up getting rid of. When I opened the box I was really surprised. It was SOLID WOOD. It wasn't cheap particle board or thin strips of pine, but thick planks that can take years of use. It makes the whole thing feel very sold and stable. Building it was pretty easy, but they could have done a better job marking out the pieces. They also didn't quite line up, but it's solid wood. It's not going to line up 100%, but it lined up good enough to put it all together. When it was all said and done I realized that the rear legs were on backwards. It was a pain to fix that, but when I did opened and closed perfectly. Recommendations, get a rubber mallet to help knock the pieces in place. Also get either a power screwdriver, or a ratcheting one for the screws. Also there's very little give on the seat and back (that's a plus for me) so get a really soft and thick cushion for it. Highly recommend. ... show more
