First, I am impressed with the customer service of the manufacturer: My use of the bed is relatively light, so it was a surprise to me, being well below the weight limit, that one day i heard a crack, checked under and sure enough one of the support boards had split lengthwise. After getting in touch with the manufacturer seeing that it was still under warranty and breaking despite relatively light use, they promptly responded, and sent the replacement part at no charge to me. There is another bed of this model in our household that is used daily and is still holding up well. I definitely appreciate the five year warranty, the excellence of the customer service, and the prompt delivery of the replacement part. The product itself is mostly decent, prior to the breakage I would have said it was extremely sturdy, however I still believe it to be a relatively sturdy bed, and that my case was a case of being a defect. I still feel confident that it will live up to my expectations over the coming years. I like how it is made out of unfinished wood that I can customize according to my needs in terms of staining it or painting it. I like the overall design of the bed, it was easy to put together by myself, the tools needed being included. The one thing I dislike about this particular design, is that the headrest does let pillows slip through the gaps of horizontal headboard slats, I'm sure there is a solution to that, but out of the box it is a problem, but not one unique to this bed, but pretty much any bed with horizontal headrest gaps could potentially have this problem. Overall, between the bed's design and the excellence of the customer service from the manufacturer when a problem did occur, I am satisfied with the product.

Solid poplar wood, no finger joints. Unique, sturdy design with no support legs under the bed - allows for storage space or easy cleaning under the bed. This is an unfinished wood bed frame - no chemical smell from any of the pieces. The sanded wood was done with >400 grit and will allow a finish if desired without any further preparation. Assembly instructions are easily understand and executed. The bed frame joints and slats do not squeak, sway, shift, or move in any way. The rails are bolted into a slot, not hung on bed frame brackets / slots. Most of the “slats” fit securely into a milled slot, though a couple of the mid-span slats are also bolted into place. A brief exchange with KD Frames indicated that if any parts were missing or received damaged that they would sent new ones without charge.

This product is consistent with all of the descriptions and photos. The wood appears to be high quality (we just assembled 2 days ago). Assembly took less than 2 hours (and we are not generally handy so were particularly careful). Instructions were clear. All pieces were provided, including installation tools (except at standard philips head screwdriver, which should not be surprising). The design is ideal for a foam mattress but could also handle a box spring and mattress. Sturdy and flexible (in terms of staining and finishing). We would recommend this product.

This is going to sound like a paid review but I swear it's not (promise I'm not that cool). When I say I SCOURED the internet looking for the perfect bed frame. I truly searched high and low. I was obsessed with one from west elm but could not bring myself to drop $800 on a bedframe for such a simplistic look. And man am I glad I didn't because this is a FANTASTIC bedframe. The wood quality is gorgeous, there are varying tones but I like the subtle purples in the wood (I'm sure would be easy to stain if you're into that kind of thing). It was a super heavy box, DEFINIETLY recommend two people carrying it and putting it together. I'm sure I could have on my own but it just went by so much faster having my boyfriend help out. I was worried about the squeaking/moving/overall sturdiness of this bedframe because us adults can be...well....active. The bed frame does not move/squeak or anything! I am honestly SO impressed by it. The mattress does move around a little bit (I have my bed up on one side of the wall) so I'm sure with some Velcro strips or something that would fix that problem. I swear I normally don't write reviews but I looked for so long and read so many on beds that I absolutely had to write one for this bed frame. It is worth every cent (and honestly maybe even underpriced?!) So if you're looking for a very clean, simple mid-modern wood look THIS IS the bed for you! Seriously, buy it you will not regret it. ALSO important to note that the directions say after the first 30 days to go and retighten the bolts, which I did, but they really did not need it the bolts were still super tight. But hey a good thing to note!

Update Feb 2022: Still happy. We’re foster parents and have had toddlers through up to 6 year old sleep on it, as well as my brother and FIL while visiting (both adult males). I’ve taken naps on it too. It has a 12” mattress in the pic. Very sturdy and the storage space underneath is essential since we are in a small condo. Original: I am so happy we bought this bed. The natural wood look is gorgeous. If you want everything uniform and matched, you need to paint it or purchase another bed, but I love that this is real wood (sturdy!) and not covered in chemical crap. Assembly was so easy with my husband. I’ve been buying a lot of furniture and around the house things on Amazon during quarantine and my husband said “How, out of all the things we have bought, is a BED the easiest thing we’ve put together?!” High compliments to the seller, the directions were great and it really was easy. Love the look of the finished product, the slats aren’t all tight on the twin XL but should be fine, and I think when I retighten the bolts in a little while it may get better. 4 stars for now due to easy assembly and gorgeous end product, will upgrade to 5 stars after some kids sleep on it and see if it holds up over time :)
